JRSP-012: My Life In-Between with Lori Plager
Episode 12 of Jett Road Studios Presents in the pilot for My Life In-Between, a collection of short stories written and performed by Lori Plager. Lori is an entertainment executive and single mother, who has been living with Stage 4 cancer. She has only told a handful of neighbors on her tight knit block, mainly because of how awkward and sad those interactions can be. She has tried dating, but that has its own set of challenges. Does she tell them on the first date? When writing her profile, should she put "long-term relationship" in quotes?Lori reads three of her stories for the pilot, Oh My God, I'm Dying, Unsaid, and My Non-Sex Life. She has written many more. Her writing is blunt, nuanced, and often funny. Her performance is polished, but at times raw, as she shares her inner thoughts with the listener, thoughts she had been keeping to herself until now.If you would like to contact Lori about My Life In-Between, you can email her at [email protected] Jett Road Studios Presents is hosted by Will Becton & Amber Becton.------------------Jett Road StudiosWebsiteInstagramYouTube------------------

JRSP-011: Audio Time Capsule - Muddy Waters
Episode 11 of Jett Road Studios Presents is the pilot for Audio Time Capsule, hosted by Will Becton. The first episode features an interview with Muddy Waters, recorded by Jeff Parrish in Westmont, Illinois. The year was 1976, and Muddy Waters had recently moved to the suburb of Chicago. Jeff Parrish was a local musician in the Chicago music scene. He was working for a local paper in Westmont when he got the opportunity to sit down with the blues legend. In the interview Muddy Waters tells Jeff about influential figures like Son House, Little Walter, and Robert Johnson. They also discuss his transition from acoustic and electric guitar, after the move from Mississippi to Chicago in the 1940s. The two men also speak candidly about race, bands like The Rolling Stones and The Allman Brothers, and whether white musicians were capable of carrying on the blues tradition when the old guard was no longer around. After writing that newspaper article almost 50 years ago, Jeff kept the recording "in a shoe box" for many years, and has only played the audio from the interview for a handful of people. When visiting LA one summer, Jeff played the recording for Will Becton at Jett Road Studios. Will and Jeff agreed any interview with Muddy Waters is significant, and should be shared, but it needed some context. Recently, Will and Jeff sat down to talk about the circumstances surrounding the interview, in order to tell the full story of that fateful morning in Westmont.------------------Jett Road StudiosWebsiteInstagramYouTube------------------People & Places MentionedWillie DixonHowlin' WolfLittle WalterWillie MabonBaby Face LeroyJimmy RogersMemphis SlimElga EdmondsHound Dog TaylorElmore JamesSkip JamesMississippi Fred McDowellRobert JohnsonSon HouseJohnny BrownMississippi SheiksLonnie JohnsonChess RecordsThe Rolling StonesAllman BrothersThe Trieste LoungeEddy ClearwaterBlind BlakeBlind Willie McTell

JRSP-010: Dwelling with Lauren Weedman
***WINNER - 2025 Signal Award - Best Indie Podcast (individual episode)***Episode 10 of Jett Road Studios Presents is the pilot for Dwelling with Lauren Weedman. Lauren is an actress who has recurring roles on shows like Hacks, Abbott Elementary, and Sirens. She is also an accomplished performer who is a host of The Moth, and has written two books. By almost any measure, Lauren Weedman has "made it," but that is not what this podcast is about. It is about her run-down, rent-controlled apartment building in Santa Monica, CA. Lauren has lived there for over 20 years, and has wanted to get out "since the day she moved in" with her ex-husband, who has since run off with the babysitter. As a single mother, Lauren tries to make her apartment feel like home, and yearns for connection with her neighbors. In the pilot episode, Lauren talks to friend and fellow Moth host Brian Finkelstein, as she embarks on her quest to get to know the people in her building. She also sits down for a revealing conversation with her upstairs neighbor Ella Mové, who is about to embark on a journey of her own.------------------Jett Road StudiosWebsiteInstagramYouTubeLauren WeedmanWebsiteInstagram

JRSP-006: Bad Elizabeth
Episode 6 of Jett Road Studio Presents delves into the True Crime genre with the pilot for the future hit series "Bad Elizabeth." The show features one notorious Elizabeth from History or Pop Culture per episode. Whether they are murderers, scammers, or just shitty people, your hosts Gideon Evans and Kathy Egan-Taylor will guide you through these sordid stories breezily, as if you overheard them at a cocktail party.Gideon Evans and Kathy Egan-Taylor are old friends, but stress that they are definitely NOT old. They met while working on "TV Nation" with Michael Moore, and were office mates on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" (the first go-around). Evans and Egan-Taylor have a shared-love of gallows humor, and are judgmental in a fair way.Our first Bad Elizabeth is the notorious TV writer Elisabeth Finch, who rose to prominence while working on the hit show Grey's Anatomy. The fact that Finch spells her first name with an "S" is bad enough, but the never-ending buffet of misdeeds she unleashed on those close to her is really something to behold. By the end of the episode Gideon and Kathy must decide if Elisabeth with an "s" Finch deserves the title of "Bad Elizabeth."----------------Part one of Vanity Fair article about Elisabeth FinchPart two of Elisabeth Finch article in Vanity FairAnatomy of Lies: Documentary about Elisabeth Finch------------------Recorded at Jett Road StudiosWebsiteInstagramYouTube

JRSP-003: Pilot Lounge with Madeleine Smithberg - Marc Evan Jackson & Lauren Weedman
On Episode 3 of Jett Road Studios Presents, hosts Will & Amber Becton introduce a pilot for the podcast Pilot Lounge, hosted by Daily Show co-creator and original showrunner Madeleine Smithberg. In this podcast Madeleine reunites with past collaborators to revisit failed pilots they made together, in a fun and cathartic way. In the first episode Madeleine talks to Marc Evan Jackson (The Good Place, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Lauren Weedman (Hacks, Abbott Elementary), to talk about pilots they made for None Of Your Business, Little America, and The 5th Hour.Madeleine Smithberg has produced countless pilots. After creating The Daily Show with Lizz Winstead (and hiring people like Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, and Ed Helms), Madeleine spent years of her life creating and selling TV shows -- for example, a topical comedy show based on the internet for Al Gore's CURRENT TV, and a late night series for BET called DON'T SLEEP! -- but oftentimes her projects were never seen by the general public. These pilots would be watched by a few development executives, and then die a slow death as networks changed hands, or other circumstances beyond Madeleine's control conspired to keep these comedic gems hidden from the world. In Pilot Lounge, Madeleine seeks to reclaim the original comedic joy of making these shows with people she loves and admires.None Of Your BusinessMarc Evan JacksonShandi FinnesseyZach WoodsMadeleine Smithberg (Executive Producer)Sarah North (Executive Producer)Janine Ditullio (Head Writer)Eric Drysdale (Writer)Eric Ledgin (Writer)Little AmericaMarc Evan JacksonMadeleine Smithberg (Executive Producer)Sarah North (Executive Producer)Butcher Bird StudiosThe 5th HourLauren WeedmanMolly ErdmanRon LynchPhil MorrisMadeleine Smithberg (Executive Producer)Sarah North (Executive Producer)Butcher Bird Studios------------------Recorded at Jett Road StudiosWebsiteInstagramYouTube------------------Madeleine Smithberg@madInthekitch (Instagram)MadInTheKitchen (Website)MadInTheKitchen (YouTube)
