There ain't nobody humpin' around in this episode (or should I say, there is not a yacht of humpin' around), but what there is a lot of is Michael talking about the documentary Whitney, which he watched in preparation for this episode. So...check it out, I guess?

  21. 31

SNL 412: Robert Downey Jr./Fiona Apple

On this episode of Jive From New York, Heather and Michael review yet another November 16th episode for Michael's birthday, this time recorded ON November 16th, for Michael's birthday! This special episode covers the 1996 Season 22 episode of SNL, with Robert Downey Jr. as host and Fiona Apple as musical guest! It's a much better episode than anticipated, and you should tune in to find out why!

  22. 30

    SNL 197 Chevy Chase/Sheila E

In this episode of Jive From New York. Heather and Michael discuss another November 16th SNL episode, this time from the unusual season 11! This one is hosted by Chevy Chase and the musical guest is Sheila E, who unfortunately only gets to perform one song (if there is a second one, we couldn't find it). But thankfully, that's not the only unfortunate thing about this episode, and if you were worried that maybe this episode would be too good, you can put those fears to rest because it definitely isn't good! Well, sorta.

  23. 29

    SNL 751: Lady Gaga

On this episode of Jive From New York, Heather and Michael review yet another episode with Lady Gaga in it, and this time it's her very first double-duty episode from 2013! This episode of SNL aired on Michael's birthday that year, so there's fun discussion about that on top of an already fun review, so don't miss it!

  24. 28

SNL 812: Tom Hanks and Lady Gaga

In this episode of Jive From New York, Heather and Michael discuss a season 42 episode of SNL, featuring Tom Hanks in his 9th hosting appearance and yet another Lady Gaga musical performance! Unlike the episode we reviewed the week before, this one feels like a proper Halloween episode of SNL. The whole episode is pretty great, but two sketches in particular are all time classics. Tune in to hear more!

  25. 27

SNL 290: Patrick Swayze and Mariah Carey

In this episode of Jive From New York, Heather and Michael review (what they assumed would be) the Halloween episode of SNL from season 16, with host Patrick Swayze and musical guest Mariah Carey! SNL 603: Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Paul Simon

Julia is the first returning female cast member of SNL to return to the show to host, and this is Paul Simon's 11th appearance! But- do these things make for a good episode? Tune in to find out!

  27. 25

SNL 313: Macaulay Culkin and Tin Machine

Can a child actor pull off a hosting gig on SNL? Can SNL even write for a child actor? IS David Bowie better here than he was the last time we reviewed him on SNL? Tune in to find out!

  28. 24

SNL 453: Jennifer Love Hewitt and The Beastie Boys

A lot of ground was covered on this particular Saturday night, and there's a little bit of everything spread out over 17 segments that somehow still manages to wrap a few minutes early. We have pets, The Beatles. the Olympics, Paula Poundstone, Eddie Murphy, and much more, so tune in and check it out!

  30. 22

    SNL 973: John Mulaney/Chappell Roan

The host is, of course, John Mulaney, and the musical guest is Chappell Roan. Check it out!

  31. 21

SNL 216- Rosanna Arquette and Ric Ocasek

On this episode of Jive From New York, Heather and Michael review a pretty forgettable episode of Saturday Night Live from the second golden era of the show, with host Rosanna Arquette and musical guest Ric Ocasek. But hey just because this SNL episode is forgettable, that doesn't mean this episode of Jive From New York is forgettable! When they talk about making lemonade out of lemons, they were clearly talking about this episode!

  32. 20

    SNL 562: Janet Jackson

On this episode of Jive From New York, Heather and Michael discuss an SNL episode from season 29, where Janet Jackson performs double duty as host and musical guest! At this time in 2004, Janet is only two months removed from her infamous "wardrobe malfunction" during the Superbowl halftime show, and SNL does a great job of constantly reminding us of that, lest we already forgot. But don't worry, because overall this episode is a lot of fun, even if Janet IS lip syncing her vocal performances.

  33. 19

SNL 72: Carrie Fisher/The Blues Brothers

In this episode of Jjve From New York, Heather and Michael talk about the first SNL to be broadcast during Michael's life, from when he was a mere two days old! In this episode of Jive From New York, Heather and Michael discuss a season 8 episode of Saturday Night Live from 1982, featuring host Michael Keaton and musical guest The New Joe Jackson Band. As far as hosts go, Michael Keaton isn't in much of this particular SNL episode, but thankfully Julia Louis-Dreyfuss is in just about every sketch. There's also a set of electrifying performances by Joe Jackson and his New Band which pretty much steal the whole episode. Tune in to find out why!

  35. 17

SNL 261: Mary Tyler Moore and Elvis Costello

In this episode of Jive From New York, Charties-In-Charge Heather and Michael review a season 14 episode of Saturday Night Live from 1989 with host Mary Tyler Moore and musical guest Elvis Costello. 36. 16

SNL 965: Ryan Gosling and Chris Stapleton

In this episode of Jive From New York, Heather and Michael review a delightful recent episode of Saturday Night Live, from Ye Olden Times of 2024. with host Ryan Gosling and musical guest Chris Stapleton. According to the stats, literally every human alive has seen this episode because of the Beavis and Butthead sketch. And whether or not you're in that camp, hopefully you'll find our review of the episode just as fun and entertaining!

  37. 15

SNL 423: Rob Lowe and The Spice Girls

In this episode of Jive From New York, Heather and Michael mostly complain about a 1997 episode of Saturday Night Live, with host Rob Lowe and musical guest The Spice Girls. There are a few fun things in this episode but overall it's mostly just filled with all the homophobia, transphobia, anti-Semitism, racism, and misogyny that we've come to expect from late 90s SNL. We also talk a lot about the Heaven's Gate cult and the jokes made about them.If you're sensitive or easily triggered by content that deals with people taking their own lives or any of the other above mentioned stuff, it's totally ok if you skip this one.

  39. 13

SNL 63: Michael Serrazin and Keith Jarrett

In this episode of Jive From New York, Heather and Michael review an episode of SNL from season 3 in 1978, featuring host Michael Serrazin and musical guest Keith Jarrett! There's also a small musical performance by a group of hip horn blowers called Gravity. The host of this episode is fine and mostly forgettable, but basically all of the stuff worth seeing and discussing is done by Laraine Newman and Bill Murray. You can miss this episode of SNL but don't miss our coverage of it!

  40. 12

    SNL 788: Miley Cyrus

In this episode of Jive From New York, Michael and Heather review the Season 41 premiere of Saturday Night Live, featuring host and musical guest Miley Cyrus! She's very good at wearing white girl dreads and licking faces, but is she good at writing song lyrics? Tune in to find out!

  41. 11

    SNL 245- Tom Hanks/Randy Travis

In this episode of Jive From New York, Heather and Michael travel once again to season 13 of Saturday Night Live, to look at a Tom Hanks hosted episode with at least one iconic sketch, and also one Giant sketch that is just as classic but somehow seemingly lost to time. Don't miss it!

  42. 10

SNL 633: Christopher Walken and Panic! At the Disco

In this episode of Jive From New York: Heather and Michael review a 2008 SNL episode with musical guest Panic! At the Disco, and all-time great host Christopher Walken in what might unfortunately be his final hosting appearance. Was it a good episode to go out on? Tune in to find out!

  43. 9

SNL 315 Steve Martin and James Taylor

In this episode of Jive From New York, we review another Christmas episode that doesn't feel like a Christmas episode, featuring legendary host Steve Martin and 5 time musical guest James Taylor. Why doesn't this feel like a Christmas episode? I'd say to tune in to find out but because there's no real story there, how about you just tune in for the fun of it?

  44. 8

SNL 208: George Wendt, Francis Ford Coppola, Philip Glass

It features George Wendt as host, with Francis Ford Coppola as guest director and composer Philip Glass as musical guest. There's a lot to enjoy here, so don't miss it!

  45. 7

SNL 92- Howard Hesseman and Randy Newman

In this episode of Jive From New York, Heather and Michael review a season 5 episode of SNL from December 1979, featuring WKRP in Cincinnati's own Dr. Johnny Fever, aka Howard Hesseman! There's some good, some bad, and some middle of the road material here, but where does that put it on the Ranked List? Tune in to find out!

  46. 6

SNL 193: Hulk Hogan and Mr. T with The Commodores

In this episode of Jive From New York, Heather and Michael discuss the Saturday Day Night Live episode that aired on the night before the very first Wrestlemania, and which starred two larger than life characters that took place in the historic main event! It's a bumpy journey, this stretch of the Road To Wrestlemania, but our hosts do the best they can with the material they cover. And as is sometimes the case. one could even say this podcast episode is better than the SNL reviewed within it.

  47. 5

SNL 705: Ben Stiller and Foster the People

SNL 241: Paul Simon and Linda Ronstadt

In this episode of Jive From New York:Heather and Michael discuss the season 13 Christmas episode of Saturday Night Live, from December 19, 1987. The host is Paul Simon, and the musical guest is Linda Ronstadt, featuring the Mariachi Vargas. There's a lot of heavy stuff to discuss in this one, including the tragic passing of Phil Hartman and Apartheid South Africa. But there's also a lot to celebrate, as we get a classic SNL lineup doing some classic SNL things during the most wonderful time of the year. Don't miss it!

  49. 3

SNL 563: Lindsay Lohan and Usher

In this episode of Jive From New York-Heather and Michael take a look at a Lindsay Lohan (who was 17 at the time) hosted early 21st century episode of Saturday Night Live, with musical guest Usher! As we've come to expect, this episode viewed through today's lens has some particularly rough spots, but it's not without its funny moments. But is it good? Tune in to find out!

  50. 2

In this episode of Jive From New York:Michael and Heather review the Season 9 episode of Saturday Night Live, which aired on November 5 1983. It features host Betty Thomas and musical guest The Stray Cats! This particular episode of SNL has some baggage, but it also has one of Saturday Night Live's all-time classic sketches, James Brown's Celebrity Hot Tub Party! The hosts have a lot to say about this one, for sure.
