Episode #60: Bloom Brothers Stage a Summit, Mormons Seem To Love The Smiths, What Is The Accutrac 4000?, Josh Gets Lost in Harlem
This week on the show...I have an exciting, touching, yet a touch excruciating, but ultimately elucidating update about the state of affairs in the world of myself and my sibling, as has been documented here on The Josh Bloom Podcast as well as other social media platforms. Today, this is a feel-good story.I discuss my discovery of a tiny bit cringey, but still satisfyingly listenable Smiths-dedicated podcast that I came to realize is hosted by a Mormon—not that there’s anything wrong with that—which leads me to some questions.Later, we get into my obsession with the two Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band live albums from my childhood and what that has to do with my father's mid-1970s acquisition of a turntable for an amount of money equal to nearly $3,000 today. Where did that money come from? I have questions. Then we wrap up this week discussing why I now hate NYC. It’s not NYC’s fault, it’s Josh Bloom’s fault, and in fact, upon reflection, I don’t hate NYC; NYC hates me, and it should. I took it for granted for so long, and now it’s done with me because I have become so unappreciative of its charms. Stay tuned, and I will tell the tale.+++Buy My Book! • The Apples In Stereo by Josh Bloom is available now from J-Card PressChoose your preferred bookseller: http://applesbook.com.Hear me interviewed about the book on The Music Book Podcast with Marc Masters here, NPR-member station KMUW’s Into Music podcast with Jedd Beaudoin here and the Don’t Bother Wearing Seatbelts podcast with Mathew Bell here.+++Come With Me To See! • Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest (and unintentionally) Akira Kurosawa’s High and LowWatch at YouTube: https://youtu.be/hOqA_etIGhE+++Follow The Josh Bloom Podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or your preferred podcast app!Follow the 1461 Days of Ignoring with Josh Bloom podcast — a weekly compilation of my daily posts — on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or your preferred podcast app!+++If you enjoy my work and want to support me, please consider a Substack subscription, or you can Buy Me A Coffee!+++Let's connect! Episode #59: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration • Days 299-305
This week on the show...I discuss the incessent front door alarm at the P, a near-scene of a sibling confrontation involving $20, laughing over being called a “stupid b*tch,” justice for Dano, getting crowded at the community table, and so much more! Plus! On the latest edition of 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration:On Day 299, the president sets a new precedent by calling a journalist a pig to her face. He was clearly furious and lashing out when he did this, and I was quickly reminded of how we all know a man like this in our lives who speaks to women and others with the disdain only an insecure man can muster. As for the leader of the Trump administration, I suppose it is in character with what a man who has been found liable for sexual abuse would do.Day 300 is day 300, baby! It is pretty crazy to have made it here. This happened to be the day after the leader of the Trump administration suggested death for ex-military Democratic lawmakers. It seems so long ago now. I suppose that one bright spot about the constant spray from the hose of insanity is that the insanity is constantly being replenished, so it is fresh.Day 301 sees me pondering how tethered we are to the internet, and I don’t mean as a social, information, or entertainment tool; I’m talking about how the infrastructure of everything we consider normal relies on the flip of a switch. This thought came about after the second global outage in as many weeks that kept me from being able to access my grocery list!Day 302 fell on the day after newly elected NYC mayor Zohran Mamdani visited the Oval Office, where he seemed to hypnotize the leader of the Trump administration into some kind of fawning fan boy. Even the planted rage-baiting right-wing journalists failed to rage-bait Mr. Mamdani. I suggest a few theories about how and why it went down this way. Stay tuned to see if you agree.Day 303 is dedicated to addressing a commenter with one of those ten-number usernames who sarcastically calls me brave with the kind of tenuous grip on grammar that I enjoy taking to task and mocking. Of course, I don’t feel guilty because this commenter, like so many others, is likely a bot or a paid rage farmer. Believing this allows making mockery oh so delicious.Day 304 is Thanksgiving Eve, where I solicit sympathy for the state of my family, or lack thereof. I admit that I will be alone, but will still be accompanied by the hope that is in my heart. I don’t consider any life state permanent. The only permanence is in demise, and so I accept the flux of reality and ponder my therapist appointment to come later in the day.Day 305 is Thanksgiving, and I take the opportunity to sympathize with the overeaters in the crowd and to warn against the capitalism and consumerism that arrives the next day, on the ill-named Black Friday. Don’t forget: The organizations waiting to take our money do not care about our happiness, health, or prosperity any more than is required to gain our patronage.Watch all of the original posts from Days 299-305 on YouTube!+++Buy My Book! • The Apples In Stereo by Josh BloomChoose your preferred bookseller: http://applesbook.com.Hear me interviewed about the book on NPR-member station KMUW’s Into Music podcast here and the Don’t Bother Wearing Seatbelts podcast here.+++Come With Me To See! • Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest (and unintentionally) Akira Kurosawa’s High and LowWatch at YouTube: https://youtu.be/hOqA_etIGhE+++More about Josh:I published my first newsletter before the age of ten, written using my next-door neighbor’s typewriter, copied with carbon paper, and distributed to mailboxes on my bicycle. One of my first stories was the obituary of John Belushi. Episode #58: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | Nov. 7-Nov. 13, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from Nov. 7-Nov. 13, 2025 on YouTube!+++This week on the show...On Day 292, it’s time to celebrate once again! We are at 20% through 1461 days of ignoring the Trump administration! As usual, I take this moment to encourage myself and you to remember that this mission is about being mindful, optimistic, and hopeful as we persevere, while at the same time gaining a perspective we never would have if we were not suffering the dum-dums in our midst. On Day 293, I address a commenter named TikTokUser5900, and you should know by now that my criticism comes in the form of taking this user to task about their poor grammar. The pride people are taking in not being able to read, speak, or write coincides with the abolition of the Department of Education. Thanks so much for the content inspiration, Trump administration! On Day 294, I discuss everyone’s need for authenticity. We want the people we interact with to be authentic, and we want to be perceived as authentic, too. I remind you that the leader of the Trump Administration is perceived as authentic by his followers because he is authentic to his character. We can count on him to be exactly who he is, which, on this particular day, I felt salty enough to say that exactly who he is is a lying piece of crap.On Day 295, I do something I could not have ever predicted, and that is to congratulate the leader of the Trump administration for what appears to be some unexpected support of the LGBTQ community in the form of the possible revelation of some potentially intimate moments with the former leader of the Clinton administration. I don’t believe the rumors, but it is pretty funny (and gross) to contemplate. On Day 296, I ask, “Do you know who Tony from Brooklyn is?” I will not reveal who Tony is now, so you will have to stay tuned, but I will tell you this question is related to a discussion I had with a conservative friend about how to successfully talk to people in a way that will leave them feeling like you aren’t full of s**t. I mean, who’s not going to give a minute of their time to Tony from Brooklyn? On Day 297, I address the concern about the future of hemp-derived products as a bill makes its way through Congress, attempting to outlaw them federally. The message on this day isn’t necessarily about this one initiative. It is about the fact that freedom is already out of the bag. We are too used to it, and it will not be taken away, especially by low-IQ old farts named Tommy Tuberville, senator from Alabama. On Day 298, I continue to invoke the name of Kamala Harris because I believe in the power of Black women, and I believe in the power of this Black woman. I consistently hear that a reason for not voting for Kamala was her perceived inability to handle Putin. I will explain a little bit about my own history with Black women and how they handled me.+++Buy My Book! • The Apples In Stereo by Josh BloomPre-Order: http://applesbook.com+++Spike Lee & Akira Kurosawa!Watch my latest “Come With Me To See” episode: https://youtu.be/hOqA_etIGhE+++More about Josh:I published my first newsletter before the age of ten, written using my next-door neighbor’s typewriter, copied with carbon paper, and distributed to mailboxes on my bicycle. One of my first stories was the obituary of John Belushi. Episode #57: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | Oct. 31-Nov. 6, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from Oct. 31-Nov. 6, 2025 on YouTube!+++This week on the show...On Day 285, I address the cinefiles in the Josh Bloom Podcast audience when I reference a film that was discussed on Blank Check, one of the dozens of film podcasts I listen to. This film is the depressing and annoying Inside Llewyn Davis. Stay tuned to hear why I dislike it and how that relates to the leader I also dislike. My opinion on this film is unpopular, but I was psyched to see that one of my mentors agreed with me.On Day 286, I casually mention casually seeing a casual uproar about the leader of the Trump administration’s not-so-casual interview with the casually becoming a casualty news program 60 Minutes. Sometimes I feel like I am the only person who sees all the words and deeds of this man through the singular lens that I have always seen him through, for both good and bad. I see him as a douche, a dick, a dumb-dumb. This was fine when he was a game show host, but absolute power is not a game. Anyway, we’ll get into it.Day 287 fell on the day after the historic election that saw Zohran Mamdani become the mayor-elect of New York City. I did not follow this campaign closely, but I knew that people I felt comfortable with felt comfortable with him, and I knew that people I didn’t feel comfortable with didn’t. We will see what happens when he takes office, but the decisive wins for Democrats did happen, and these wins indicate to me that the message of “1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration” shines through the s**t. Mindfulness, optimism, and hope. Let’s go!I return to film talk on Day 288 to say that I have never seen the film Scarface, but I know enough to know that the lead character, Tony Montana, is incredibly corrupt and has extremely gaudy taste. This is just like some other thug we know. Do I need to say his name? Here’s a clue: gold-plated! I confess that I have never seen someone in public life who is so devoid of any attachment to aesthetic quality. I realize this is a minor observation, considering all the problems we face, but I still believe that a lack of aesthetics is a problem worth acknowledging. On Day 289, I somehow express backhanded gratitude to the Trump administration for exposing the racist, bigoted, and violent people among us so that we can avoid them. I guess it’s good that these kinds of people feel like they can just be themselves for the moment, kind of like a breath of fresh air in the atmosphere of Hell. I would expect no less from the followers of a leader who is fighting in the Supreme Court to keep poor children from getting access to food stamps. On Day 290, I am pissed about the leader of the Trump administration withholding food stamps from needy citizens that he is supposed to be helping, but I also have a take that tells me we are nearing the end of this madness. I have said he will take us to the bottom before we can rebuild from that perspective. We’re getting there, and that means a new day will dawn. I also say “doody” on this day, so that’s fun!On Day 291, I discuss a sense memory I had the other day about feeling like surviving the leader of the Trump Administration, and the Trump administration feels like surviving the pandemic. We were all confused and scared for a time, but then we began to manage our lives in a way that allowed us to persevere, remain productive, and continue planning for our futures. We are doing the same as we continue to ignore the Trump administration!+++Buy My Book! Episode #56: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | Oct. 24-Oct. 30, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from Oct. 24-Oct. 30, 2025 on YouTube!+++This week on the show...On Day 278, I discuss the controversial New York restaurateur Ken Shopsin, whom I mentioned last week. I dedicated my upcoming book to him, which you should buy at applesbook.com. Stay tuned to hear me share some words of wisdom that Ken shared with me, which I still repeat to this day. Let’s just say that I tie it into the possibility that the Supreme Court will try to undo the Voting Rights Act of 1965.On Day 279, I was thinking about greed and wondering if Elon Musk has enough money. It fascinates me that the unending need for more is a priority in life for so many over the beauty in the world that doesn’t require any money at all. I am quickly reminded of the Barbra Streisand-Donna Summer duet, “No More Tears,” and speculate that if Elon listened to it, he might reconcile with his trans daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson. On Day 280, I ponder the pettiness of the leader of the Trump administration, his personal hatred for Barack Obama, and how this relates to that silly snowflake song from a little while back called “Try That In a Small Town.” My theory is that every time he mocks Joe Biden, it’s because he would really like to be mocking Barack, but he can’t, because not only does everyone love Barack, but if the leader of the Trump administration were to say what he really wants to say, well, you know what he’d say.Day 281 is the day I banged on my kitchen wall because the plumber upstairs was snaking the pipes, which annoyed me. I mentioned this on the last episode of the podcast, and now you get to hear me admit how I insulted the Super Mario Brothers by lowering myself to the tantrum-throwing standards of the leader of the Trump administration. The moral of the story here, however, is that personal accountability should be what every person aspires to, even if that person is a 34-time convicted felon.Day 282 is the quietest I have ever been during 1461 days of ignoring the Trump administration, because on this particular day at the P, it was so quiet that I felt I needed to. Rainy days like these make me worry about the employees there, thinking that their jobs might be in jeopardy, and once I start thinking like that, I am reminded of the leader of the Trump administration and his complete lack of concern for people like them.Day 283 is Halloween, and on this day, I took my cat Stella for a nail trim. I mentioned the quickness of the tech on the last podcast, but I didn’t describe having to avoid the basket full of candy on the counter. Avoiding being taken in by that basket full of free, accessible candy reminded me of avoiding being taken in by that basket full of free, accessible news that we find sitting on the counter of our lives. Was I successful? Stay tuned to find out!You didn’t think I would end the week without responding to a commenter, did you? This one becomes a doozy on Day 284 when I discover what the JLY in this person’s username stands for. I speculate on whether or not this person grew up under a stairwell just like the Albert Ingalls character from Little House on the Prairie, if maybe they had spent time in prison, and remind them that leaving sarcastic comments is not in line with the teachings of their lord and savior (no, not the leader of the Trump administration, the other one!)+++Pre-Order My Book! The Apples In Stereo by Josh Bloom | Out Dec. 9, 2025“This book is completely different from the way I thought of things, but it appears to be accurate!” —Robert Schneider of The Apples In Stereo“Art is messy! Episode #55: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | Oct. 17-Oct. 23, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from Oct. 17-Oct. 23, 2025 on YouTube!+++This week on the show...Day 271 fell on the day of the second No Kings Day protest, which turned out to be one of the largest protests in American history. You’ll get to hear it in a moment, but I managed to tie this in with the boxing promoter Don King, Kid Rock, Howard Stern, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. As I write these words now, I have to wonder how I became a person who has this disparate group of people floating around in my mind.Speaking of boxing, or more specifically, people indiscriminately beating each other senseless: On Day 272, we discuss this upcoming mixed martial arts event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship that will take place at, where else, the White House, and how I am actually okay with it because to me that means there will eventually be drag shows shows there, too.On Day 273, I can’t help but report about the recent deconstruction at the White House, but don’t expect me to be up in arms about it because, frankly, I’m fine with the entire building coming down. This house is no home. It was built with slave labor, and why would I want to celebrate that? If anything, it is another reminder that Black and Indigenous women should be running this nation. I am only chagrined that the crew didn’t play “Burning Down The House” by Talking Heads during the process, but the leader of the Trump administration doesn’t have the taste level for that.On Day 274, I hip you all to the recent episode of The Al Franken Podcast featuring comedian, writer, and political commentator John Fugelsang, who speaks, as the son of a nun, about right-wing Christian hypocrisy as it relates to the teachings of Christ. I mention this not to point out the obvious, but to provide a concrete go-to source for us all to use in the future, such as during the Thanksgiving holiday when we are most likely to encounter those who may benefit from Fugelsang’s perspective. On Day 275, I come face to face, or at least as face to face as one can be in a comments section, with a commenter whose username is not Colonel Dingus, but is close enough that I decide to refer to this commenter as Colonel Dingus. Of course, this leads to a discussion of what it takes to become a colonel, and naturally, I wonder if the Colonel can somehow, someway, put me in touch with the elusive cereal titan Captain Crunch. On Day 276, I address a commenter named Phaydin who dares to criticise my appropriation of the actual name of the previous day’s commenter into a variation that suited my need for laughter. Why this person is protecting Colonel Dingus is not up for speculation. Because Phaydin spells Phaydin with a “ph,” I decide that Phaydin must be a fan of the band Phish, because why the hell not?On Day 277, we celebrate entering the end of our teens. That’s right! We have reached 19% of 1461 days of ignoring the Trump administration and, as you know by now, I take the time to acknowledge these milestones and to remind myself that the reason I am doing this is selfish. I want to remain mindful, optimistic, and hopeful during these turbulent times, and practicing the self-discipline of checking in each day helps me to do that. I also take the opportunity to put my cat into the TikTok thumbnail image. She didn’t care.+++Pre-Order My Book! The Apples In Stereo by Josh Bloom | Out Dec. 9, 2025“This book is completely different from the way I thought of things, but it appears to be accurate!” —Robert Schneider of The Apples In Stereo“Art is messy! Episode #54: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | Oct. 10-Oct. 16, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from Oct. 10-Oct. 16, 2025 on YouTube!+++This week on the show...On Day 264, I began a week of dunking on commenters, starting with one who takes issue with my frequent talk of diplomacy when it comes to how we tolerate one another by bringing up Hillary Clinton’s use of the word “deplorable.” Of course, the irony here is the commenter’s username, which you should stay tuned to enjoy. I will continue to believe that nine out of ten commenters are either bots or paid operatives because it is too depressing to think otherwise. On Day 265, I keep it rolling by responding to a commenter named after the candy Rolo, or at least that’s what I decide when comparing this commenter’s comment to this dud-like candy that is kind of like an elevated Milk Dud. You can probably tell that I have a good time saying the word “dud.” It’s a fun one. I also work in mentions of Snickers and 3 Musketeers. Leave a comment letting me know what your favorite candy bar is.On Day 266, my streak of responding to commenters continues with one who may or may not be one of the children of underground folk singer Bob Dylan who, like his possible father, is ahead of his time with insightful observations stated with indelible words, when he says, “If u truly ignored the Trump administration, u wouldn’t bring IN UP a TikTok video.” Yes, he said it just like that, and I do not mess with a poet’s words. On Day 267, I continue having fun responding to commenters, when one named HoldMyBeerNow! – the emphasis on “Now!” is just how I heard it – complains that I have not acknowledged the ceasefire in the Middle East, which, at the moment I am writing this, has now been violated. Regardless, I suggest to HoldMeBeerNow that we meet to discuss and find peace in our own Middle East, which actually exists in Massachusetts. Stay tuned to find out what the hell I’m talking about. On Day 268, I am forced to address a commenter who reminds me of banana pudding after this commenter calls me “pudding” as some kind of put-down while attempting to do the bidding of the man who commanded this pudding person to comment in the first place. That man is the leader of the Trump administration, also known as the current TIME magazine cover boy, which many are saying is the most unflattering photo ever taken. I have a feeling this commenter would disagree. On Day 269, I remind that just because you’re ignoring the leader of the Trump administration and the Trump administration, that doesn’t mean you’re completely ignoring the Vice Leader of the Trump administration who referred to a group of radical right wing 30-somethings as “kids” when failing to condemn a leaked group chat where these 30-year-old political operatives proved that Hillary Clinton was onto something with her use of the word “deplorables.”On Day 270, I remind you to get vaccinated, as I feel self-righteous about having gotten mine. Boosters, actually. COVID and Flu, and I managed to do it even though the latest disgraced member of the Kennedy family had his eye on keeping me from doing it. You know the current health dude used to be a junkie like Lou Reed, right? Just not as cool as Lou Reed. In fact, about 18% as cool.+++Pre-Order My Book! The Apples In Stereo by Josh Bloom | Out Dec. 9, 2025“This book is completely different from the way I thought of things, but it appears to be accurate!” —Robert Schneider of The Apples In Stereo“Art is messy! Episode #53: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | Oct. 3-Oct. 9, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from Oct. 3-Oct. 9, 2025 on YouTube!+++This week on the show...On Day 257, I discuss how I think it is just too narrow to label the leader of the Trump administration as a racist. He is so much more than that! He has undue grievance with all types of people, and he will also accept undue praise from all kinds of people. For instance, I don’t believe he would dislike Prince for being Black; he would dislike Prince because Prince is revered, adored, and one of history’s most extraordinary talents. I also take a moment to throw shade at Dave Chappelle for being transphobic and co-opting Charlie Murphy’s stories for his two best bits.On Day 258, I talk about the dopey speeches that the leader of the Trump administration and one of his flunkies gave to the world’s generals after making them haul their asses away from their work to listen to speeches so dopey, they reminded me of the dwarf named Dopey. Even so, I make the case that this is what democracy looks like. These guys were elected and appointed, and that’s how our system works. If I consider this very dopey display as part of a larger narrative arc, then I have to believe that what we are seeing right now is a prologue to a better day, with better dwarves. On Day 259, I reference John Lennon’s song “I’m So Tired,” which I am pretty sure I have referenced previously, which means I am so tired, a lot. I feel it out there these days. People are exhausted from dealing with jerks, although I don’t call them jerks on Day 259. I have been hearing more and more people say that they support the leader of the Trump administration’s policies, but they don’t support his character. To me, all behavior stems from character. Did I mention that I am so tired? On Day 260, I follow up my commentary about the dopey speeches given to the generals on Day 258 to mention that an AI overview that I did not ask for, concluded that my commentary on the topic was opinionated, but fair, and from this I have to say that AI clearly has more of a handle on critical thinking than the people we have entrusted the safety and success of our nation to. Since AI is comprised of the collective consciousness of the population, I will take this as a good sign. I also squeeze in a mention of Buster Poindexter! On Day 261, I compare the self-righteousness of the leader of the Trump administration, the Trump administration, and the followers of the leader of the Trump administration, to those, like myself, who prefer The Dark Side of The Moon over The Wall when it comes to Pink Floyd albums. I make the argument that no one is better than anyone else, and while we may prefer some people over others, like I do with those albums, we should appreciate each other’s objective reason for existing anyway, just like I do with those albums. On Day 262, it’s not Jim Carey in Liar, Liar. It is Don Wary in Cryer, Cryer. On this day, I talk about how astounded and impressed I am by the leader of the Trump administration’s lifetime of honing his skill at shamelessly lying. This is not something that I think he is even aware of at this point. It is a default setting, and it takes two to tango. Most people just aren’t prepared to be shamelessly lied to, right to their face, and that is what makes them a perfect partner for the leader of the Trump administration! On Day 263, we celebrate becoming legal! We are 18% through 1461 days of ignoring the Trump administration, and this, of course, reminded me of the rock star who looked more like a woman in his prime than any other, and that is Sebastian Bach of Skid Row, who sang the song “18 and Life”. Sure, we have a long way to go. Still, I will always stop at these incremental milestones to remind myself and you what we are doing here, and what we are doing is surviving, helping others survive, and getting better at surviving by surviving!+++Pre-Order My Book! The Apples In Stereo by Josh Bloom | Out Dec. 9, 2025“This book is completely different from the way I thought of things, but it appears to be accurate!” —Robert Schneider of The Apples In Stereo“Art is messy! Episode #52: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | Sept. 26-Oct. 2, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from Sept. 26-Oct. 2, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeThis week on the show…On Day 250, I ask if you are tired, sad, and scared, because I am, and I make the case that it is not necessarily a bad thing because I embrace contrast, and that goes for emotional states as well. I was taught in the cult of the Upright Citizens Brigade improv school, which is not really a cult, but felt like one, that blue does not show up on blue. This goes for emotional states, too. Feeling dark means feeling light more brightly. On Day 251, I discuss Jesus, but not that Jesus. He is the new indie wrestler who happened upon my screen and has not left my mind since. Professional wrestling is one arena, for lack of a better word, that brings together all people from all walks of life. Kind of like how everyone loves Star Wars, for example. Can this incarnation of Lord and Savior bring the people of America and the world together? We must have faith. On Day 252, it gets a little dark as I discuss the latest flurry of violence in America and how I believe that these violent atrocities will soon be motivated less by political ideology and more by simple desperation as more people become hopeless. What the hell does this have to do with 80s icon Boy George? Hey, it’s a stretch, but I figured out the connection. Stay tuned. On Day 253, I proclaim that I want the next round of political leaders in this country to be based entirely on quality of character and do not care if they are qualified to do their job or have any experience in government at all. I also mention the recent interview with Kamala Harris, where she discussed a phone call with Donald Trump, in which he almost sweet-talked her like only a great conman can. Stay tuned. On Day 254, I confront a commenter I call CKCKCKCKCK12, who claims, “You said Trump like five times, but you said you were ignoring his administration. LOL.” As I have in the past, I ponder if this comment is by a bot, a paid organization, or someone experiencing some personal mental health struggle. I suggest a dialogue with someone like me who is speaking about a world that I would like to live in. I have not heard back.On Day 255, I can’t help but continue to goof on the usernames of negative commenters, as well as the origins and motivations behind the general disdain expressed towards me. Today is PBJ4444, which I understand would be someone who is a fan of the famous sandwich, peanut butter and jelly. As usual, I suggest a dialogue, but I have yet to hear back from Peanut Butter and Jelly. On Day 256, I address a commenter named BigSamTX, which I assume means Texas, where men want you to believe they are big. I suggest that Sam and I meet up in a neutral location to discuss the possibility of Big Sam’s transition back to simply Sam. Spoiler alert: I have yet to hear back from Sam as of this writing.+++Pre-Order My Book! The Apples In Stereo by Josh Bloom | Out Dec. 9, 2025“This book is completely different from the way I thought of things, but it appears to be accurate!” —Robert Schneider of The Apples In Stereo“Art is messy! Episode #51: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | Sept. 19-Sept. 25, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from Sept. 19-Sept. 25, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeThis week on the show…On Day 243, I pick up where I left off on Day 242. I was still thinking about Jimmy Kimmel being kicked off the air. I had been waiting for Howard Stern to get back from break to hear what he had to say about it since he and Jimmy are close friends. Then I began thinking about Howard’s co-host Robin Quivers and how she is one of the reasons I revere Black women as much as I do. Please remember that Kamala Harris lost the election by only a little more than 1% of the vote and that the leader of the Trump administration didn’t even get 50%. Please remember. On Day 244, I bring up four ways to extend your life that are pretty easy to do. No spoilers, but I will reveal that one of them is about ridding your life of toxic people like the leader of the Trump administration and the Trump administration, for example. He is a person, like many people, who seem to thrive on making the lives of others difficult and miserable. We can not and should not waste our time on Earth attempting to fix what will always be broken. On Day 245, the leader of the Trump administration reminds me of Charlie Brown crying “Good grief!” when he tells a group of gathered reporters in the oval office that they should not be allowed to criticize him and that criticizing him should be illegal. Get ready to say goodbye to free speech? Maybe. He asserts that 97% of coverage about him is negative without realizing it is because 97% of what he does and says is negative. On Day 246, I report on the return of Howard Stern to the air for the first time since Jimmy Kimmel was taken off the air. I don’t watch Jimmy, and Howard has refrained from political content this year, but he and Jimmy are besties, so I knew he would speak about this. I was also reminded of Howard’s own troubles with the FCC throughout his career. He is a pro at being taken off the air.On Day 247, I start out with some baby talk to illustrate the toddler-like reaction of the leader of the Trump administration when, during a humiliating visit to the United Nations, an escalator stopped working, which made the leader of the Trump administration very, very upset. Later, his teleprompter wasn't working correctly either, which made him Lady Goo-Goo-Ga-Ga. Apparently, he is now launching an investigation into why the escalator stopped working. On Day 248, I admit to being embarrassed and humiliated by the behavior of the leader of the Trump administration because I am a human being, which means I too, am capable of despicable behavior, and like most people who aren’t total freaks, I choose to regulate it. Only the worst of us stoop to petty expressions of sadness, misery, and vindictiveness. Tom is the only acceptable petty expression. On Day 249, you can clearly hear that I have begun my cold-fighting journey, but this does not stop me from showing up to celebrate the completion of 17% of 1461 days of ignoring the Trump administration. I liken the invasion of my body by this cold to the invasion of the country by the Trump administration and remind us all that just like how Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes of TLC sang about waterfalls, we must openly embrace water. Hydration solves so much.+++Hi. It’s Josh.A few days before the inauguration, I was thinking about how I wanted to deal with the next four years.I was exhausted by the news! But I wasn’t interested in going completely uninformed. Episode #50: Dads pick on their recently kidnapped kids in an Akira Kurosawa classic and its re-lit Spike Lee joint.
Stop! If you haven’t seen Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest and/or Akira Kurosawa’s High and Low, and don’t want your experience spoiled, do not listen! If, on the other hand, you enjoy spoliers and/or enjoy having me, Josh Bloom, do the spoiling, continue! If you would like to read this piece instead of listening to it, you can do exactly that at this link.+++Hello! It is me, Josh Bloom. I am a little late, because I am fighting a cold. When I say fighting a cold, I mean I am trying to keep it from becoming a full cold. You can hear it in my voice. That is the voice of cold fighting! As I explained in today’s social media post of “1461 Days of Ignoring the Trump Administration,” I fight colds by drinking tons of water. I drown them. This has worked for me. I don’t suggest, I only confess.Speaking of “1461 Days of Ignoring the Trump Administration,” I am not speaking of it today, because today’s episode of the Josh Bloom Podcast is the first edition of:“Josh Bloom’s ‘Right on Time’ Recaps” – The film review series that runs right when you’re ready to read! That is the catchy name I came up with for film reviews that I write and publish much later than you would normally see a film review written and published because how many of us see a film the weekend it comes out anymore anyway?Yes, I have found a way to justify my unconventional schedule. I hope you will justify an unconventional reading and/or listening experience. As I have explained over the previous few weeks of the Josh Bloom Podcast, this first edition of “Josh Bloom’s ‘Right on Time’ Recaps” started out as a review of the new Spike Lee movie Highest 2 Lowest, but quickly became an analysis of that film and the film which inspired it: Akira Kurosawa’s High and Low. I took notes about both films and started writing, and then kept writing, and writing, and eventually arrived at nine thousand words, which is almost 25% of the length of my book that is coming out on Dec. 9.I will have more news about that, and everything else that I love to update you about on the following episode of the show, which will be the usual installment of “1461 Days of Ignoring the Trump Administration.” For now, get ready to dig it to an hour-plus long reading of my piece on Spike Lee and Akira Kurosawa titled:“Dads pick on their recently kidnapped kids in an Akira Kurosawa classic and its re-lit Spike Lee joint.”I giggled a lot while writing this and I even used some sound effects towards the very end. I won’t be coming back at the end like I usually do, so I will have to check in with you about my incredible production trick on the next episode.Don’t forget that you can Buy Me A Coffee.Go to buymeacoffee.com/joshbloom. Only $3 to help me make up for the coffee I had to purchase on credit while writing the piece you are about to listen to for free. Reminder: You are listening for free and it was not free to make for me!Also, let’s celebrate the fact that:This is Episode #50 of the “Josh Bloom Isn’t Going To Make A Cutesy Long-Ass Name For This Episode Because He Is Fighting Off A Cold and That Means That While He Isn’t Conscious of Putting In Less Effort and If He Was Conscious of Putting In Less Effort He Would Be Ashamed and Appalled But It Is Likely That His Brain and Therefore Body are Not Functioning As Normal It Is Reasonable To Think That He May Be Cutting Corners On The Cutesy Title That He Usually Comes Up With Before He Says Also Known As The Josh Bloom Podcast” aka the Josh Bloom Podcast! It is the first edition of “Josh Bloom’s ‘Right on Time’ Recaps” – The film review series that runs right when you’re ready to read! Before we jump into this hour-long odyssey, which I will not be waiting for you at the end of, please let me say now:Thanks again for listening! Please leave a five-star rating for the Josh Bloom Podcast in your podcast app and leave a comment saying that you like the show. Don’t forget to follow, and, please tell a friend. This is a good episode to direct a friend to because it is about the movies and everyone loves the movies! Episode #49: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | Sept. 12-Sept. 18, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from Sept. 12-Sept. 18, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeThis week on the show…We start on Day 236 with a comment about the video from last week on Day 235. This commenter asks me why I am not a millionaire and I actually explain a little bit of my financial history prior to self-imposed poverty. I look back on the financial crash of 2008, clarify my feelings about rich people, and take the opportunity to mention the Pet Shop Boys song called “Opportunities”! On Day 237, I contemplate being perceived like Amy Poehler as Leslie Knope on Parks and Recreation when it comes to Community Guidelines violations on TikTok. Apparently some creators feel that the new rules are choking their political content. Not only do I not believe that I violate any Community Guidelines, I actually believe that I provide guidelines for the community. I am just simply suggesting that we ignore the Trump administration and how bad can that be?On Day 238, I received a comment about the previous day’s video regarding my concern about those new Community Guidelines. This commenter seems to believe that I am not important enough to be worried about, which hurt my feelings and so I felt the need to respond with thinly veiled contempt in a way that felt totally satisfying and productive. Thank you to HockeyMomof3 for giving me the chance to put you in your place. It was fun.On Day 239 I announce that the TikTok ban that we have been wondering about for nearly a year is now not going to happen, which seems as good a time as any to express my gratitude for every viewer and every listener and to reiterate that the point of this exercise is to spend less time learning about the lives of the people who do us no good and spend more time living with and learning from the ones we love. Stay tuned to find out what this has to do with Arnold circa 1974.Day 240 is another opportunity for me to remind myself that the internet is not real life, as we come off a week of scary political violence followed by attempts to stifle free speech, it bears repeating that there are radicalized people among us who are not so rad. They are radicalized, but these people are few, and we are unlikely to ever actually encounter them. I am reminded of Jim Carrey in The Truman Show and how he at least got to live his delusional life in an ideal environment. On Day 241, we discuss the Hamburglar, or more specifically, the word hamburger, which is now not allowed to be said in North Korea. Isn’t that nice? This leads to talking about why, as human beings, we allow other human beings to have control over what we think, what we say, and what we do. How is it possible that we tolerate this? I first got these ideas when I was in first grade, and I still have them now.On Day 242, I discuss how I have never watched Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon or any late night host after David Letterman went off the air. This is, of course, related to the continued attempts by the Trump administration to choke free speech. For now, I suggest following my advice and checking out the Letterman clip from the 80s that I discussed on this day. There’s nothing that the leader of the Trump administration can do about the cooking oil content I reference.+++Hi. It’s Josh.A few days before the inauguration, I was thinking about how I wanted to deal with the next four years.I was exhausted by the news! But I wasn’t interested in going completely uninformed. Episode #48: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | Sept. 5-Sept. 11, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from Sept. 5-Sept. 11, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeThis week on the show…On Day 229, I think for a second that the leader of the Trump administration may have watched my video from the previous day about self-awareness when he admits that the latest jobs report was bad, which doesn’t sound like the leader of the Trump administration that I know! He quickly blames someone else, however. Something about not raising interest rates, which, like Bob Odenkirk in the movie titled Nobody, nobody actually cares about. On Day 230, I talk about apologies and the people who never stop apologizing, even when it isn’t necessary. It's kind of like that Nirvana song “All Apologies.” Then there’s the leader of the Trump administration who never sees the need to apologize for anything, a sure sign of a person lacking empathy, shame, and morality, which he will prove once again as the week continues. You’ll see.On Day 231, I ask a fundamental life question: Do you believe in a creator? This came up after I heard a person say that if you just indulge in psychedelics, you will have your mind opened to a consciousness that will make you believe in God. I contemplate all of the dirty hippies who saw Jerry Garcia when he was still alive and went away with this experience, thinking they had achieved some kind of awareness that couldn’t have been accomplished otherwise. Hey, I’ve done it, and I remain unconvinced. On Day 232, I explore the idea that eternally optimistic people like myself and the leader of the Trump administration must have our optimism accompanied by realism and not delusion. I discuss how I embrace the former and the leader of the Trump administration, the latter. Suprise, suprise! I wonder aloud if he does his bizarre double-fisted jerk dance to “Happy” by Pharrell Williams when he is in one of his deluded states. I am sorry for whatever is playing in your mind at the moment. It is my fault. On Day 233, the heat is being turned up on the leader of the Trump administration regarding the files that he seems to appear in many, many, many times. The previous day, I wondered if I loved the song “Happy” by Pharrell Williams, and now I am wondering if he also loves the unfortunate 1973 hit by Ringo Starr titled, “You’re Sixteen.” I have a feeling that it is not only a favorite. It used to be the leader of the Trump administration’s whole way of life.On Day 234, there is no option but to address the horrific political violence that took place just hours before I recorded that day's video. My take on this lethal event is practical. If we begin to head down the road of violence, we will find ourselves headed towards a literal dead end. I have faith in the fact that human history shows we have been in this position before, but I would rather not be a casualty of the beginnings of a civil war. Martin Luther King Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi did not die for this behavior to just continue. On Day 235, I look forward to being annoyed by Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce instead of the ever-growing divisiveness that threatens to derail our way of life. I know it sounds dramatic, but don’t worry. Out in the community every day, everyone seems okay. I suggest we put aside our differences and come together to focus on the 1% who prefer us fighting so we don’t notice how they take advantage of us for their own personal gain.+++Hi. It’s Josh.A few days before the inauguration, I was thinking about how I wanted to deal with the next four years.I was exhausted by the news! But I wasn’t interested in going completely uninformed. Episode #47: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | Aug. 29-Sept. 4, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from Aug. 29-Sept. 4, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeThis week on the show…On Day 222, I wonder if you are drinking patriot coffee, why there is no woke coffee, and hope that Bob Dylan will license his song “One More Cup of Coffee” to the woke coffee brand. I failed, up until this actual moment, to remember that Folgers had the slogan and jingle “The best part of waking up is Folgers in your cup,” which literally contains the word “waking” aka “woke!” So, I guess there has been woke coffee all along right there in our midst. That’s what they call indoctrination by caffeine. On Day 223, I discuss my ride home from The Goonies in which I turned on that channel that is slowly becoming a propaganda arm called CNN just long enough to hear the leader of the Trump administration claim that he is stopping crime. I thought he meant that he is stopping committing crimes, but no. I forgot momentarily that he must have a small mouse that lives in his rotted brain that tries to remind him that he is a convicted felon, but that mouse just isn’t loud enough. Also, I reveal that I once interviewed Corey Feldman. On Day 224, I address the rumor that went around last weekend that the leader of the Trump administration was no longer with us. Personally, I did not believe these rumors because I do not believe that the leader of the Trump administration would go out quietly. He would never leave this Earth without making at least a few parting insults at Barack Obama. I also take the opportunity to remind us all that we need to stop paying attention to this crap.On Day 225, I posted a video that seemed to get shadowbanned because I said that I wish I could hate more. I re-edited it, however, to mute the word hate, and that seemed to help even though I hated having to do that. My point was that with all of the people hoping that by Monday we would see the leader of the Trump administration as Bernie in a Weekend at Bernie’s type of situation, we fail to remember that this dude has grandkids who don’t know that he is a piece of s**t. Let’s remember that.On Day 226, I ponder the people who use that phrase “touch grass” as if we are all supposed to be the Peter Sellers film character Chaucey The Gardener as name-dropped by King Ad-Rock of the Beastie Boys in the song “Shazam!” from their underrated late-career album To The 5 Boroughs. This day is partially to remind us that time is short and to use it gloriously, but also to name drop this song and album because most people seem to have forgotten about them.Day 227 is for discussing “Faith,” which, like “Shazam!” is an incredible song, but is not “Faith” by George Michael, I mean actual faith. Do you know there are people who believe in God and do not believe that God is the leader of the Trump administration? Yes, they exist, and they are self-aware and critical enough not to believe the lies of the leader or the Lord. At least the lies of religion are supposedly based in love. The leader’s lies are based on his love of lying and the marks who love his lies.On Day 228, I elaborate about the reaction of the subject of my book and am reminded of the Barbra Streisand film The Mirror Has Two Faces, which I have not seen, but I was inspired by the title. When we see ourselves in the mirror, and then one day, there is someone else staring back that we don’t recognize, that can be a jarring experience. As I said earlier, I realized that when I gave my subject the book to read, I felt it was the right thing to do to be there for him as he processed my point of view. I am proud of the dude. +++Hi. Episode #46: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | Aug. 22-Aug. 28, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from Aug. 22-Aug. 28, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeThis week on the show…On Day 215, I respond to a commenter named Justin The Dogfather who reminds me of the Snoop Doggy Dogg album The Doggfather. Snoop’s recent comments that films with gay characters scare him reminds me of my new friend Justin The Dogfather, so it’s all cyclical around here. Justin The Dogfather is the latest commenter to point out that I am not, in fact, ignoring the Trump administration, and we have to have a little talk about that. Guess who does all the talking. It’s me! No gin or juice involved.Did you know that McDonald’s used to have a breakfast mascot? That’s a cliffhanger, folks. You’ll have to stay tuned to find out more. On Day 216, I fill you in on a discussion I had at the P about the 2000 national guard troops that have been stationed on the streets of Washington D.C. and just why they are there. My friend has a theory that I would not have thought of, and that’s what having friends is for. I’ll reveal this much: There’s a reason why this McDonald’s mascot didn’t survive. On Day 217, I contemplate the idea of woke cereals in an attempt to appeal to the leader of the Trump administration's base who I believe are the marks of a con man. I realize that real American men aren’t going to eat a cereal named Fruity Pebbles even if Fred Flintstone is on the box, but maybe they will eat a cereal named Patriot Grains and Rocks. This cereal does not yet exist, but perhaps there will be a Buy Me A Box of Patriot Grains and Rocks website soon enough. Let’s pray.On Day 218, I go to the subject that makes all followers of the leader of the Trump administration crazy and that subject is Kamala Harris. I believe that Black and Indigenous women are the future of America because a country founded in genocide and built in slavery will never be made whole until the most oppressed members of its society are elevated to positions of power. We have seen this in the 75 million votes received by Kamala, and we will continue to see it. As you can imagine, this post elicited very angry comments from very racist people. On Day 219, before we celebrate the completion of 15% of 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration, I update you on the many, many nasty comments that I had to delete from the previous day’s post, as well as the hilarity that is California Governor Gavin Newsom’s trolling of Donald Trump that the followers of the leader of the Trump Administration don’t seem to understand is mockery. I love dumb people sometimes, I’m not gonna lie. Also, yes, 15%. We're getting there! On Day 220, I talk about supporters of the leader of the Trump administration who actually make what sound like measured, cogent arguments about his policies and behaviors, just like his detractors make measured, cogent arguments about his policies and behaviors. The point I make is that everyone has an agenda no matter what the agenda is, and so we must be aware of that fact. I tie this into David Bowie’s sex life, as he proclaimed it in 2002, specifically. Stay tuned to find out why. Finally, before we get to my lighthearted segment live from the P, on Day 221 I have to discuss how disgusted I am that we have eighth graders forced to sacrifice themselves for fourth graders in our country’s latest school shooting that no elected officials of any political persuasion seem to have the courage to do anything about. I wonder what I would do, but I know that my actions would have nothing to do with politics and would have everything to do with people.+++Hi. It’s Josh.A few days before the inauguration, I was thinking about how I wanted to deal with the next four years.I was exhausted by the news! But I wasn’t interested in going completely uninformed. Episode #45: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | Aug. 15-Aug. 21, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from Aug. 15-Aug. 21, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeThis week on the show… Don’t forget to listen to the end for chicken fingers talk! But first… On Day 208, I have to admit how embarrassing it is to be a U.S. citizen as I watch the leader of the Trump administration be humiliated in real time by Vladimir Putin in Alaska. I sound frustrated as I beg his supporters to take a look in the mirror and consider turning their back on stupidity, but then I realize I am just being stupid myself to even ask. I don’t remember the cartoon Ren & Stimpy much, but I remembered that I liked it, and I also remembered that Ren used to call Stimpy an idiot. You can guess how that reference came up.On Day 209, I clap back at a commenter named Craig whose cheerleading reminds me of Kirsten Dunst in the film Bring It On, which I never even saw, but Craig’s pom-pom shaking was so strong, that it shook loose a memory that I never even had. The point of this day was to recognize that the days of acquiescing to the shamelessness, immorality, and lawlessness of the Trump administration may be reaching an end. I guess I just realized that the title of the movie that I never saw is prescient. Bring it on!Day 210 is the day before the leader of the Trump administration follows-up on his Putin meeting by meeting with the Ukrainian president in what I now call the Golden Office. If you haven’t seen a photo of what the Oval Office looks like now, it may shock you. It is now almost a week later, and Russia continues to relentlessly bomb Ukrainian civilians. The war that the leader of the Trump administration promised to end on day one is still claiming lives on day 210. Par for the course for a guy who constantly cheats on the course and has never shot par.On Day 211, which just happens to represent my birthday of February 11, and is why I take the time to mention that I do not like the song “Birthday” by The Beatles. I also must reprimand a commenter who defended Vladimir Putin, an indicted war criminal responsible for tens of thousands of deaths. This is also the day of the Golden Office meeting with President Zelenskyy of Ukraine, which is only happening because the leader of the Trump administration is mad that Barack Obama has a Nobel Peace Prize and he doesn’t.Day 212 is dedicated to explaining right from wrong. Unfortunate as it is that such a thing would have to be explained. For instance, you never hear the left talking about “taking their country back,” for example, like you hear from the right. This is because the left knows that the country isn’t ours. It belongs to all of us, if anything. I recall the relationship between Jeff Spicoli and Mr. Hand. Do you remember what Jeff called Mr. Hand when Mr. Hand ripped up Jeff’s card? It is another word for the word I am not saying. I will remind you, and like with Ren of Ren & Stimpy, I think you know who I am referring to.Do you believe in Gosh? On Day 213, we discuss the people who believe that saying Gosh instead of God actually does anything. Of course, I must acknowledge the late comedic genius Mitch Hedberg for coming up with that phrase. This thought came about because I saw a commenter criticizing a child for saying, “Oh, my God.” My reaction to that is, I hope the commenter’s children, if they have any, will somehow find a way to establish their own beliefs instead of having religion forced on them.Day 214 is Chicken Fingers Day! Speaking of believing, can you believe that if you want to order an appetizer of chicken fingers with a soda and tip, you better have more than $20 on you? Yes, that is the economy we are living in now thanks to the leader of the Trump administration. I point out that Kanye West doesn’t have to worry, not because he doesn’t have the money, but because he prefers fish sticks, and if you don’t know what I’m talking about, Google “Kanye-Fish Sticks.” You will realize that I have brought this week’s intro full circle.+++Hi. It’s Josh.A few days before the inauguration, I was thinking about how I wanted to deal with the next four years.I was exhausted by the news! But I wasn’t interested in going completely uninformed. Episode #44: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | Aug. 8-Aug. 14, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from Aug. 8-Aug. 14, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeThis week on the show… Stay tuned to hear about the big Russian stuck in the mobile order window. But first… On Day 201, I reminisce about seeing the South Park movie 26 years ago, congratulate the South Park guys on another stellar takedown of the Trump administration, and unfortunately, drop the news that this latest takedown won’t matter, and it doesn’t matter that it won't matter, because what matters is you, what matters is me, what matters is freeloading coffee and gyro sandwiches with your family. We will never let the leader of the Trump administration and the Trump administration take that away from us. Of course, I mention Prince, and I really crowbar it in. You’ll see.On Day 202, I let you in on my Saturday morning spent driving around to three grocery stores because I am so frugal (remember my real cousin paying for my coffee and gyro sandwich?) that I needed to get the best deals on my grocery list, but what inspired today’s video was was not the shopping, it was the lack of shoppers. The stores were all creepy because they were all empty. What does this have to do with Pink Floyd besides being creepy? I will talk about it so please listen to me talking about it.On Day 203, I compare the positive messages in the songs “Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina and the Waves and “Break Stuff” by Limp Bizkit as it relates to the aforementioned book that I have written and am now editing. I went through a lot of negative thoughts and feelings during this project, and I share how I took that energy and made it work for me. I don't charge you any extra than free for this advice, but you could pay $3 for thirty to forty minutes of gratitude. Wow, what a bargain! On Day 204, I finally ask the question at the heart of every internet post about what is happening to the nation under the leader of the Trump administration and the Trump administration. What do I do? I find that almost all of the rhetoric I encounter online is full of information and speculation even from people I admire and trust, but no one seems to be able to tell me what to do about it. At least I found a way to recall the scene in Animal House, where John Belushi eats an entire hamburger in one bite on the cafeteria line. I always admired that.On Day 205, we partake in a celebration that you should be used to now as we hit 14%, yes, 14% completion of 1461 days of ignoring the Trump administration. Also as usual, I remind us all that Kamala Harris only lost by 1%, the leader of the Trump administration didn’t even receive 50%, and my mindful, optimistic, and hopeful attitude, which sometimes wavers, still remains at 100% when it comes to believing that we will survive the Trump administration and be better for it. Most people are good, and most people want to be left alone. Let's be good and let's be left alone!Speaking of left alone, on Day 206, I have to report some news, and that is that a senator from Utah wants to federally ban porn. If there is one thing that will make all citizens of all political persuasions revolt, that would be it. The main point I make, however, is in speculation about the sexuality of a person who would introduce such a bill. I encourage meddling, miserable meatheads like this to either live life or end it. Please do one or the other. Finally, on Day 207, a white gay jew, an ample bellied loud Russian and a petite, friendly Asian woman walk into a McDonalds. You'll want to stick around for this one. It is a slice of life in America that I experienced first hand and gave me a great feeling about what is actually happening in real life in our nation. When you are enjoying each other without the constant negativity of the internet, it is easy to ignore the Trump administration.+++Hi. It’s Josh.A few days before the inauguration, I was thinking about how I wanted to deal with the next four years.I was exhausted by the news! But I wasn’t interested in going completely uninformed. Episode #43: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | Aug. 1-Aug. 7, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from Aug. 1-Aug. 7, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeThis week on the show… I have to tell you that I will reveal what a “mild spiral” is on Day 200 and you won’t want to miss it!But first… On Day 194, I am reminded of the R.E.M. song “These Days” from the band’s best album – do you know which one it is without looking? My thoughts on this day are about the anxiety every content creator has about views. It doesn’t matter how big or small your following is, that is the trap we willingly spring on ourselves. There is a temptation to post more incendiary content about the leader of the Trump administration, but that would lead me away from my point of view. I owe it to myself to find the balance between being Josh and being a view w***e. I will figure that out. On Day 195, I contemplate, “What if there was a history book written by a higher power?” Later, I thought, “Oh, some people would say that’s the bible,” but that is not what I am saying! I am wondering about a history book about the universe that discusses an individual planet the way a US history book discusses the country. You can probably guess where my thoughts lead once you know I reference “This Is America” by Childish Gambino. It’s too bad that Donald Glover’s epic song was as prescient as it was historical, but at least we have it to listen to as entertainment despite its harrowing content.Day 196 I drop the truth bomb that the leader of the Trump administration is no Derek Zoolander, which is about as lighthearted as it gets on Day 196 because I have to drop the real truth bomb that this dum-dum is going to have his portrait in the classrooms of the next generation of children. Think of it this way: His unholy visage will be a constant reminder to children across the land to seek a deeper sense of personal understanding that comes from communicating with transparency and respect. It is a lesson that may have never been learned if it was not so necessary. On Day 197, I address the chatter about no more elections. There are many people who are afraid that there will be no more elections and I do not believe that we should be worried about that. All politicians are corrupt on some level. Our system is corrupt on some level. Existence is corrupt on some level. Knowing that, some people, like the leader of the Trump administration and the Trump administration, are worse… much, much worse than others, but people like that are only fulfilling their roles. Just like you expect Han Solo to act like Han Solo and not Princess Leia, right? I’ll explain this. Stay tuned! On Day 198, I bring up Ron Burgundy for the first time, and it is about time I did! I think that Ron is a more trusted news source these days than any media maven, and that goes for my fellow content creators. As I had pointed out earlier, there is such a strong motivation to post content that satisfies the craving for views, that it becomes difficult to take much of anything seriously. Ron Burgundy is a fictional character, so at least I know his motivation is moot. I stay classy on Day 199, which by being Day 199 is the penultimate day before 200. What a crazy milestone! Do you remember the song “I’m Afraid of Americans” by David Bowie and Trent Reznor? Go listen to it after you listen to this podcast! On Day 199, I reveal that I don’t think of myself as an American or even an Earthling. These are such limiting labels! I am just Josh, which is a label that was given to me, but is in no way limiting because Josh is always undefined. I don’t feel any need whatsoever to pin an identity on myself other than being a man who is a fan of the song “I’m Afraid of Americans.”And then… drumroll… Day 200! Wow. I reveal what a mild spiral is, which is a made up nervous breakdown management philosophy that you won’t want to miss because giving out unsolicited, unqualified, but highly helpful advice such as this is part of what we both have bargained for as the creator and listener to the Josh Bloom Podcast. Seriously, though, we all suffer from the onslaught of life's unexpected challenges, so here's a thought about how to cope. What does this have to do with the unheralded character Floory from Pee Wee's Playhouse? I will explain this, because explaining is the point. Justice for Floory!+++Hi. It’s Josh.A few days before the inauguration, I was thinking about how I wanted to deal with the next four years.I was exhausted by the news! But I wasn’t interested in going completely uninformed. Episode #42: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | July 25-July 31, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from July 25-July 31, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeThis week on the show, the theme is vulnerability, and so on Day 187 I asked Chat GPT how I could become 10% more vulnerable because my therapist told me that when he listened to this podcast he thought I was about 90% of the way there, meaning, I was holding back, and he would know because he has had to put up with my b******t for a long time. He has been a real Josh Bloom team player. How does this relate to the album Songs From The Big Chair by Tears For Fears? Stay tuned. On Day 188, I pretty much lost my mind on MAGA. Remember, this podcast is currently about ignoring the Trump Administration, but sometimes I just can’t do it, and I shouldn’t just do it because these people are reprehensible. I explain why both Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas are both giant pieces of crap, and I continue by pointing out some other giant pieces of crap, and then, I mention a goddess on Earth named Patti Smith who is the antithesis of that.Day 189 is the celebration of the unlucky number 13 which is not unlucky when it comes to being 13% though the final term of the leader of the Trump administration, who is one of the pieces of crap that I mention the day before. Did you know that the leader of the Trump Administration was caught cheating at golf in Scotland this week? Even if you didn’t know, you know. You know? I bring up Ted Knight as Judge Smails in Caddyshack just to keep myself from getting too angry.Day 190 is a prophetic day. I talk about the fear of revealing too much to someone you are interested in and how that fear can keep you from revealing just enough to move the relationship forward. It’s called vulnerability, baby, and that is the theme of the week. This is prophetic because I was gearing up to do just that with my crush, and I don’t want to jinx it, but it paid off. I admit that it was a stretch to connect these thoughts with the film Weird Science, but that paid off, too!On Day 191, I talk about a song lyric that is stuck in my mind as it relates to the Trump Administration, and that song lyric is, “We went through hell just to get to hell.” You’ll have to stay tuned to find out who sings this amazing song, but I can at least let you know that it is somehow tied to the Rocky Horror Picture Show, but not how you think. Was that enough of a build-up to keep you listening? Great. If not, I also mention the artists Elliott Smith and Sleater-Kinney. Maybe that’ll do it.Here’s a bit of a twist that I don’t mind revealing: On Day 193, I have to apologize for Day 192. On Day 192, I respond to that old chestnut of a comment “But you’re not ignoring…” and I use it to pick on the commenter in a way that was just too easy, and of course, I use the opportunity to mention the song “Easy” by The Commodores, but then use that to belittle the commenter further. You will hear what happens. Then, on Day 193, I admit the error of my ways from the previous day. Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, the singers of the song “Telephone,” would not be proud of me for having phoned it in. This is something I will never do again. It did not feel good, but since the theme is vulnerability, at least I gained some insight by confessing to this unacceptable digression. The standard I have upheld during 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration will not be compromised again.+++Hi. It’s Josh.A few days before the inauguration, I was thinking about how I wanted to deal with the next four years.I was exhausted by the news! But I wasn’t interested in going completely uninformed. Episode #41: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | July 18-July 24, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from July 18-July 24, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeThis week on the show, I started out on Day 180 by revisiting the perfect call I discussed last week with my friend that lasted two and a half hours. I had forgotten that she kicked me out of the house once because I wouldn’t leave. This was during a more entitled time in my life, and because I am working on vulnerability (hello, therapist!), I wanted to tell this story. I allude to Lou Reed, so you don’t want to miss it!On Day 181, I hip you to “Cruel Shoes” by Steve Martin, but that’s about as joyful as it gets because I go dark quick in discussing the cruelty of, well, you know who. This is basic ignoring the Trump administration stuff. We have to endure the insufferable, which, now that I think about it, literally makes it sufferable, so it’s not as bad as I thought it was. Listen to “Cruel Shoes,” it’s dark, too, but literally joyous.Keeping it menacing on Day 182, when I diverge into a discussion of bullying and how that is related to an experience I had buying ultra processed cheese product. What if the band Ween had an album titled Chocolate & Ultra Processed Cheese Product? Not so catchy. That is why I have never been asked to join the band Ween. But really, I stood my ground at the grocery, and you get to hear all about it.On Day 183, I am sorry, but I continue to discuss cruelty and bullying. Wow. I’m shocked. I was in the mood this week to remind everyone to defend ourselves against those who would disrespect our boundaries. Little did I know that later in the week would come a defense of us all that would blow these worries and concerns away, at least for a day. I mention two different songs by The Doors, too. No, not the one about getting it on with yer Mom. Sorry, pervs! On Day 184, I say I’m sorry again! This is about my claims that the leader of the Trump administration doesn’t care about us. I came to the conclusion that, of course, he cares. He has to care if he is going to try and manipulate us for his own gain. Obviously, I am being sarcastic, but it is a wake-up call none the less. Believe me, even after 184 days, there are plenty of folks who still don’t get it.On Day 185, I make like Ferris Bueller and take a day off. Except I don’t. My day off is symbolic. I want to step aside from the daily grind of considering how we live among some intolerant people who wish ill upon us. They are weak, and we are strong. In addition to Ferris, I reference dudes with loud trucks and why their trucks must be so loud.Hilariously, on Day 186, the reason the dudes must have loud trucks is exemplified in the season opener of “South Park,” which I saw all of the relevant clips of on TikTok. Let’s just say that the leader of the Trump administration’s “reason for a loud truck” was a very, very tiny portion of the show. You know. Listen to the end for all of the small details.+++Hi. Episode #40: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | July 11-July 17, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from July 11-July 17, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeThis week on the show, I start out on Day 173 challenging myself as I stated previously to be more vulnerable, and so I talk about not being much of an older brother. This was difficult, but worth it, because now I think that I am just so awesome for being able to be so vulnerable. I hope vulnerability turns me into even more of a conceited b*****d. What’s does this have to do with Marvin Gaye? Keep listening! Then I discuss a chat I had with a dude at the track and how that led to remembering someone’s name for what seems like the first time. I am not good at remembering names and I tell you why. It has to do with a personality disorder that I am working on. Suprise, suprise. His name is Frank, by the way, and we drive the same car. How’s that for a cliffhanger, huh? Excited now? Great! What does this have to do with the leader of the Trump administration? Stay tuned!Speaking of not remembering names, Day 175 is the one year anniversary of the tragic passing of a firefighter at a political rally in Pennsylvania where someone we know claims to have taken incoming fire of his own. Whatever you think about what happened that day, that someone is not thinking about the firefighter. This day started with a post I made claiming that if a reporter asked the leader of the Trump administration the name of this firefighter, he had 0% chance of knowing that name. This led me to address a commenter about this topic on Day 175, and then to respond to yet another supporter of the leader of the Trump administration later that day. I have included all of this back and forth for your pleasure. I hope it is pleasurable. The day is lighter on Day 176 when we celebrate the completion of 12% of 1461 days of ignoring the Trump administration. As per usual, I like to use these milestones to remind us all of what we are doing here. This was also the day that the leader of the Trump administration crashed the stage at the World Cup. If you’re into hearing about jerk-offs showing up where they’re not supposed to be, stay tuned! On Day 177, I get back to vulnerability time when I admit to wasting time and discuss my endeavor to develop brisk reactions that are the best responses. What does that mean? I made it up that day, so I am still figuring it out, but I welcome any and all feedback about how I can get better and better and better at this. I also use the occasion to bring up Morris Day of The Time. I like to bring up Morris Day whenever possible. On Day 178 we discuss a discussion. I was on the phone with my friend for two and half hours and I proclaim it to be a perfect conversation. How does one have a perfect conversation? Stay tuned. I will explain. I will also remind you that Bjork wore a swan dress once. Wasn’t that fun?And then on Day 179 I calm down a commenter named Lynda who was taken aback to find out that we aren’t already ten years into the Trump administration. I let her know that I understand, but as I think about it now at 6:52 AM, I guess that it has been ten years if you count all the way back to when he came down that escalator. If only he had tripped. Oh, well. I am vulnerable, so I can reveal that dark thought.+++Hi. Episode #39: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | July 4-July 10, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from July 4-July 10, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeThis week on the show, the leader of the Trump administration gives a speech where he states that he hates Democrats. Like, really. He says, “I hate them.” Nice, right? So if you were wondering if you should call your senator, don’t bother. People who hate are not people who can be negotiated with. Let’s just ride this out! The next day, I criticize the other side of the aisle for posting about the floods in Texas that have claimed the lives of dozens of young children at summer camp. I saw people posting that Texas was now quote-unquote “finding out.” I find that behavior and talk to be just as hateful as what the leader of the Trump administration says. Garbage people are everywhere. Except for Philadelphia, it seems. If you know you know. If you don’t, well, the garbage collectors are on strike in Philly. Okay?Special note: You will hear a short satirical video I made about the farewell concert event by Black Sabbath last weekend. The reason I include it here is because on Day 168, I address a commenter who somehow found a way to make my ridiculous video political. I take the opportunity to point out a couple more examples of how we are living in times when now literally every single word is political. But that won’t stop the fun. You will hear another short satirical video afterwards, because thankfully, there are still some people out there who want to play.On Day 169, I coined the phrase “empathy for idiots,” because I realized that empathy isn’t just for people who suffer (like me!) It is also for dum-dums who don’t realize they are dum-dums and I give examples of characters from some of my favorite stupid comedy films. I think you will understand the concept right away and recognize the idiots in your life to empathise with. Then things get real for a few days when I begin to discuss my journey with psychotherapy as an individual who sacrifices and suffers and sacrifices and suffers and… well, you get it by now. The next day, I reveal that my therapist wants me to think about being more vulnerable in order to better connect with people, and so that is what I am attempting to do on Day 172 as I discuss the party I attended a couple of weeks ago and the effect it had on me. Don’t worry, I manage to somehow connect this to the song “Walk Like An Egyptian.”+++Hi. Episode #38: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | June 27-July 3, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from June 27-July 3, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeThis week on the show, I have had it with political pundits on the left who continue to wonder why the right acts the way they do. They already know the answer, but they keep asking the question so they will have something to talk about. I get it, but just because I get it, it doesn’t mean I like it!Then, I tell a story of spending an afternoon entertaining the conservative parents of my friend and their attempts to see if I would talk s**t about the leader of the Trump administration. You won’t want to miss this! Day 161 is very special, because we go to 11. That’s right 11, 11, 11. We are 11% through 1461 days of ignoring the Trump administration, so of course I have to discuss “Spinal Tap” and how the Trump administration is a total s**t sandwich.Did you know that highly intelligent and well-educated people are more susceptible to the manipulation and indoctrination techniques of cults? Well, they are! If you want to find out what I’m talking about, great, you’re already listening. Spoiler: It is not about the leader of the Trump administration’s cult, and it’s not about the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi aka “Sexy Sadie” either. Then things get really fun, when I take Day 163 to address a commenter named “Chief” and recommend to him that he spend some time listening to “It’s Alright To Cry,” a song by the oldest living former NFL player, Rosey Grier. On Day 164, I contemplate bad people, and more specifically, the degree to which bad people are bad. Of course I bring up one of the leader of the Trump administration’s most admired serial killers, “Dr. Hannibal Lecter.” And finally, on Day 165, I discuss the passage earlier today of the bill that may kick 17 million people off of their health insurance and why and how we will survive the leader of the Trump administration and the Trump administration, and be better for it.+++Hi. It’s Josh.A few days before the inauguration, I was thinking about how I wanted to deal with the next four years.I was exhausted by the news! But I wasn’t interested in going completely uninformed. Episode #37: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | June 20-June 26, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from June 20-June 26, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeThis week on the show, a Black woman says she’s sorry to me at the trash can, and I explain how this moment that she couldn’t care less about caused me to consider the Black experience. Then, I am very excited to talk about the return of the Talking Sopranos podcast, which I highly recommend and found the social commentary discussed on the surprise return episode to be worthy of Day 153 of Ignoring The Trump Administration. Then, I just couldn’t help myself, but we had to discuss the leader of the Trump Administration’s speech in which he said, “We love you, God,” because it is the strangest words I have ever heard. I just couldn't help myself the next day either and had to discuss the continued theory that what happened to the leader of the Trump Administration when he injured his ear was staged. I mean, it happened on a stage.I couldn’t help myself for a third day when the leader of the Trump Administration had a meltdown in front of reporters and said the f-word! Not on a hot mic or anything. While he was being interviewed! I am pretty sure that I go several days without cause to use the f-word, but then again, I am not constantly f-ing up! It was too fun not to say it on this day, however, so I did. I give an extensive lesson on how to deal with trolls online, and it is not my block and delete method. It is a slightly more involved way to subtly change a person’s life. If that sounds really deep and meaningful, great. Finally, I reveal what society’s biggest problem is, and you might think that I say the leader of the Trump Administration, but you will have to listen to the end to find out for sure.+++Hi. Episode #36: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | June 13-June 19, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from June 13-June 19, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeThis week on the show, we talk about inventing ourselves and how that topic is related to the band R.E.M. and what that has to do with the two roads people seem to travel when they engage with me about ignoring the Trump administration. We move on to some sick stuff that I am partially regretting discussing, but it did lead me to mention Eddie Van Halen and the NAACP, so it can’t be all that bad. We celebrate being 10% through 1461 days of the Trump administration, why Father’s Day reminds me of Michael Landon of Little House, and the success of the No Kings Day protest, along with the parallel failure of the leader of the Trump administration’s birthday parade.Speaking of No Kings Day, a commentator named Jack gets all up in my grill about it and I have to explain a few things to him while using Independence Day star and famous face-slapper Will Smith as part of my argument. We discuss the 3 1/2 % Rule, why it is important to know about and how it relates to the Daryl Hall and John Oates mild banger, “One on One.” Speaking of bangers and calling back to last week’s unfortunate passing of Brian Wilson, I mention the hit song “Barbara Ann” by The Beach Boys and how it is related to our upcoming war with Iran. Have you heard that we’re probably going to war? Thanks, leader of the Trump administration! Finally, I make a plea for the the gold leaf installed in the oval office to remain after the leader of the Trump administration is gone, just to show that we have more important issues to deal with.+++Hi. Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from June 6-June 12, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeHey, it’s Josh, and this is Episode #35 of the Josh Bloom Podcast! This week on the show, we talk about how if you have a dozen kids that you don’t see, then no one should be wondering if you care about anything. Yes, I am referring to the electric car guy.I discuss how instead of trying to change the world, we can change one person’s life every day by simply being decent. Give it a try and let me know how it worked out in the comments.Speaking of comments, a commenter commented on that video by telling me a about the good deed that was done for her by a co-worker and I compare the satisfaction one gets from doing good deeds with that of buying a Lamborghini.Of course, I had to bring up Jeff Spicoli from Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Wooderson from Dazed and Confused. Stick around to find out why.I contemplate if the government will have to send us checks to compensate us for the fraud they are committing with our tax dollars just like Navin Johnson had to do in The Jerk because of Opti-Grab.I remind us all that the leader of the Trump administration received less than 50% of the votes and we wrap up with a mention of the problematic 1982 film The Toy starring Richard Pryor. Boy oh boy, we covered a lof of my fictional and non-fictional heroes this week!+++Hi. Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from May 30-June 5, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeHey, it’s Josh, and this is Episode #34 of the Josh Bloom Podcast! This week on the show, we talk about how I haven’t gotten over people’s selfish behavior during the pandemic, which I was reminded of by seeing a fly in the donut case at ShopRite. Spoiler: I was not deterred from buying my morning donut! Have you ever heard of the band My Morning Donut? Neither have they.I reveal that the leader of the Trump administration’s mommy and daddy did not love him. Of course, this is speculation, but stay tuned and I will present my case. I am quite positive that negativity is the worst of human traits. We discuss how I am reminded of Debbie Downer and Gollum from “The Lord of The Rings” when I receive negative comments on social media from these people.I admit to forgetting to celebrate with you the occasion of reaching the 9% mark of the second and FINAL term of the Trump administration, but we make up for that in style. We discuss willful trust not willful ignorance displayed by the followers of the leader of the Trump administration, I let you in on my exciting conversation with a lifetime employee of the WWE, and I explain what the leader of the Trump administration has in common with Lady Gaga of all people. You’ll want to listen to the end to find out just what the hell I am talking about. +++Hi. Episode #33: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | May 23-May 29, 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from May 23-May 29, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeHey, it’s Josh, and this is Episode #33 of the Josh Bloom Podcast! This week on the show, we talk about how some people are metaphorical garbage people and how I have more respect for actual garbage people who risk their lives riding around on the back of that truck, and then the very next day, it’s “Garbage People: Part Two, Electric Boogaloo,” where I do mention Turbo, Ozone, and Kelly, who are not garbage people, unlike the commenters who continue to think they are clever by saying, “You aren’t ignoring the Trump administration if you’re making videos about the Trump administration!”Then I reveal the unfortunate overheard conversation that the lovely woman at “The P” was having about how she loves the leader of the Trump administration. She gave me a free egg souffle that day. Not only am I not conflicted, but to me, this is a reminder to tolerate perspectives as long as free food is involved.Speaking of perspective, I discuss the childhood pictures of my parents that I saw which helped me realize that I thought they acted like a******s because their parents acted like a******s which is why I understand what the youngest son of the leader of the Trump administration also known as Barron is dealing with.I take a little time out to remind myself and you that we are more than 33% through year one of the final term of the Trump administration and then we wrap up with the very fun piece of news that is so worth digesting (literally) and that is the leader of the Trump Administration’s new nickname, which is “Taco!” You’ll have to listen to the end to find out why!+++Hi. Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from May 16-May 22, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeHey, it’s Josh, and this is Episode #32 of the Josh Bloom Podcast! This week we talk about what it would be like to see Oprah get into a fender bender, a commentator asks “What happened to the leader of the Trump Administration’s 34 counts,” and I reply with a reminder that the Supreme Court is a made-up thing for people who are good at doing homework and desire robes.I finally address MAGA directly and apologize to them for using the pronoun "them," as well as the words "pride" and "pretty," I congratulate the leader for being one of the world’s foremost master manipulators and compare the behavior of humans to ants (not your Mom’s sister. The insect. A joke I also make later, but wanted to say again now.)I admit to light hypocrisy and growing up mean, we get into the difficulty of having difficult discussions, which was inspired by the rock star I’m writing about, and what he told me I am not allowed to write about, and finally, we wrap-up the week, with suggesting that Bernie Sanders assume the role of quote-unquote “Go-To Dude” in the Buttigieg-AOC administration. What do you think? Bernie as wise advisor? It could happen? Let’s just get through these 1461 days, shall we? I can’t wait to tell you more about the book I’m writing and I sincerely hope my editor doesn’t just throw it in the trash and stop taking my calls. +++Hi. Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from May 9-May 15, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeHey, it’s Josh, and this is Episode #31 of the Josh Bloom Podcast! This week, we talk about how I spiraled and got depressed over the lack of a good “Pope from Chicago” joke, my ongoing struggle with food, boundaries around food, and self-discipline regarding food. Did I mention food?We also get into a negative commenter named Jim who blocked me, and I discuss his potential love of R.E.M. and somehow manage to bring up The Lord of The Rings, then we get into Penn Jillette from Penn & Teller’s discussion on his podcast of cults, the concept of evil, and how my parents checked my skull to see if I was a real-life Damien from the film The Omen.Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Carole King are invoked during a rant on the difference between facts and truth, I bring up the well-intentioned manipulation of a indie famous friend I have been contracted to write a book about (look for a subtle clue in the thumbnail of this week’s episode — it’s not the person pictured!), and we celebrate making it through 8% of 1461 days with a mention of Rodney Dangerfield. If you haven’t seen Rodney as Al Czervik in Caddyshack lately or ever, it is one of the greatest comedic film performances ever. Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from May 2-May 8, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeHey, it’s Josh, and this is Episode #30 of the Josh Bloom Podcast!I hope you enjoyed the bonus episode “The Intelligence of Stupidity” earlier this week. Go back and listen to it if you haven’t yet here. A commenter on YouTube said that it is “an absolutely fascinating microcosm of what must be going on with a great portion of society today.” They then went on to criticize me in a very long tirade, but I decided to take the Simon and Garfunkel lyric “a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest,” as instructive and do some disregarding. We are back again with another edition of “1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration,” covering May 2nd through May 8th, which corresponds to days 103-109. This week we also touch on, talk about, and mention what would happen if McDonald’s restricted sales to the leader of the Trump Administration, going to the dark side on May the 4th be with you, Al Franken’s removal from the Senate, my connection to John Cougar’s “Jack and Diane” (spoiler: there is none), Tony Soprano, and where there is Tony Soprano, there is Dr. Melfi, steel plants, Taylor Swift, Jeff not-so-ready-for-Amazon-Prime Bezos, my love of Andy Kaufman, George Carlin, and Steve Martin (who is also the subject of this week’s bonus podcast. Again, go listen if you haven’t!)Podcast #30 is a doozy, which is a word that isn’t used often enough. Kind of like stymied. Why wasn’t there a Little Rascal named Doozy? Bonus Episode! The Intelligence of Stupidity: Steve Martin & “Oh, Mary!”
Hey, it’s Josh! You’re probably wondering, “Josh, what the hell are you doing in my podcast feed on a Monday?” Well, you can consider this a bonus episode of the Josh Bloom Podcast! Why a bonus episode? I will tell you! On July 6th, 2024, I saw the hysterical play “Oh, Mary!” during its run of previews ahead of opening on Broadway following its sold-out downtown NYC run. On October 6th, 2024, I published an article on my Substack entitled, “The Intelligence of Stupidity: Steve Martin & ’Oh, Mary!’” in which I wrote about the show, along with it reminded me of my childhood obsession with Steve Martin’s late 1970s discography. Since that time, “Oh, Mary!” has become a Broadway sensation, breaking financial records at the Lyceum Theatre where it has just been extended again through the fall of 2025. Now, the show’s writer and star, Cole Escola, has been nominated for a Tony® award for acting, along with an additional four nominations for the show. When I published the article, I included a reading of it. This was before the beginning of the Josh Bloom Podcast, so what better time to share that reading with you as a bonus episode of the show. Right? If you want to learn more about “Oh, Mary!” and Cole Escola, CBS Sunday Morning has an extensive piece I have linked to below.CBS Sunday Morning: https://youtu.be/bPvRvh3PsBIEnjoy, and be sure to compare what I sounded like on October 6th, 2024, compared to this intro on May 5th, 2025. I bet it’s astounding!+++More about Josh:I published my first newsletter before the age of ten, written using my next-door neighbor’s typewriter, copied with carbon paper, and distributed to mailboxes on my bicycle. One of my first stories was an obituary of John Belushi. Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from April 25-May 1, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeHey, it’s Josh, and this is Episode #29 of the Josh Bloom Podcast! Do you remember when you were 29 and feared 30 coming around the bend? Me neither. I was too miserable for memories. I originally was going to say I was too high, but I decided to go for alliteration and sympathy instead.I am “Uncle Josh” to a few people who are not actually blood relatives, but might as well be, because I have known them their entire lives. One of these kids, is not a kid anymore. He turned 18 this week, and I couldn’t help but remember when he wasn’t even able to sit up in a chair. Now, he has a deeper voice than I do.Speaking of the passage of time, we are about to get into another edition of 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration, covering April 25th through May 1st, which corresponds to days 95 through 102. As you will hear, we are 7% through. Interestingly, the leader of the Trump Administration isn’t that great at sitting up in a chair either. This week we also touch on, talk about, and mention the dessert called cake, Rachel Maddow, Beetlejuice (the movie character, not the Howard Stern wackpacker although we do mention Howard’s producer Gary Dell’Abate aka Bababooey), cats that vibrate, artificial intelligence which some call AI, Pink Floyd, “Satisfaction” by The Rolling Stones, Dr. John Sarno, The Smiths, Transcendental Meditation, “99 Luftballoons” by Nena, NSYNC, and The Upright Citizens Brigade.Wow, what an assemblage!Did you use the word assemblage when you were 29? If you did, we were probably friends. Thanks again for listening, and now let’s get into 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration!+++Hi. Episode #23: I Snuck In Ten MUNCHKINS® | Part Two
Stop one! If you haven’t listened to Part One, go and do that first. Scroll to Episode #18 in the Josh Bloom Podcast feed at this link.Stop two! I reference several TikTok posts in this article which I have conveniently reposted to YouTube for you.Even more conveniently, here are links to these posts:• “Starbucks Has Banned All Bad Behavior” (YOUTUBE)• “The First Karen of 2025” (YOUTUBE)• “Splash Stick Gatekeeping” (YOUTUBE)• “Not Wet Leg, Wet Cough” (YOUTUBE)+++Hi. It's Josh. These are my actual behaviors in actual coffee shops.Everything you are about to hear is meant to make you laugh. While rooted in my reality, my sarcasm isn’t nearly as important to me as empathy. We are all here for a short time, after all.Lashing out is not a priority. Levity is.When you listen to this, don’t worry. You’re already perfect. I am describing people we should loathe or at least pity. You may find that I am one of those people.I am discussing my behavior and how it varies by shop to indicate and illustrate how we can all benefit from being more mindful of altering our behavior based on the situations we are in, the company we are in, and, in the case of coffee shops, the literal “companies” we are in.How we behave inside different coffee shops is a microcosm of how we can behave outside of different coffee shops.I find that many of my fellow citizens are becoming less and less self-aware and less and less prone to care how they act in public.Do you agree? Please let me know in the comments!+++More about me:I published my first newsletter before the age of ten, written using my next-door neighbor’s typewriter, copied with carbon paper, and distributed to mailboxes on my bicycle. One of my first stories was an obituary of John Belushi. Episode #20: THE BRUTALIST is must-see cinema, even if it comes up short against 1987’s OVERBOARD on cabinet construction.
Hi. It's Josh. Some show notes:1. Skip this week’s episode if you don’t like spoilers!2. I posted a longer “Come With Me To See” video on YouTube of this day. Watch!3. In that video, I realize that Mike Brady of The Brady Bunch is also an architect!+++THE BRUTALIST is a better film than OVERBOARD, the 1987 comedy starring Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn that also features cabinet construction, and even though it clears that bar, I wanted to find THE BRUTALIST more profound than I did. I left the theater unconvinced that I would discuss the movie 38 years later like I am now with OVERBOARD.Maybe it's my fault.During the ensuing days spent composing this piece, I accidentally saw some commentary in other criticism of the film that called out its insistence on being perceived as important. Was THE BRUTALIST trying to get something across that I sensed but didn't have the faculties to succumb to?Maybe I'm not as sharp as I need to be to get the profundity the film tries to assert. I am okay with that, and none of this is to say I wasn't entertained. Enjoying a day at the movies is what's important.I also enjoyed the cabinetry.+++More about me:I published my first newsletter before the age of ten, written using my next-door neighbor’s typewriter, copied with carbon paper, and distributed to mailboxes on my bicycle. One of my first stories was an obituary of John Belushi.
