2026 WA Legislative Session--WEEK FIVE
The 2026 Legislative Session has crossed over its half-way point and two of the Legislature’s self-imposed cutoffs have passed. With over a thousand bills now dead, legislators (and advocates) can better focus on priorities. As expected, there is a mix of action on K-12 bills—some have moved positively, others have died. Fortunately, many of the “bad” bills have also been set aside. 31 days are done, but a lot can happen in the next 29 days.

2026 WA Legislative Session--WEEK FOUR
With WEEK FOUR, the Legislature’s first self-imposed deadline arrives. Multiple key education bills are on the docket, set to be adopted before the February 4 original house policy committee cutoff. This will give us additional clarity about legislators’ priorities. The next cutoff, the original house fiscal committee cutoff arrives Monday, February 9.
