How do I love myself when I've lost sight of who I am? - with Kate Hoyle

So many women reach a point where they have been everything for everyone, and then quietly wonder: who am I now? It's hard to love yourself when you have spent years losing sight of who you are. But what if loving yourself begins with noticing where you’ve disappeared? In this episode of Life, Love & Legacy, I’m joined by Kate Hoyle, award-winning clinical hypnotherapist and advanced Rapid Transformational Therapist, for a conversation about the deeper stories our minds hold onto, the beliefs that shape us beneath the surface, and the gentle but powerful work of coming back to ourselves.Kate’s journey into hypnotherapy began after witnessing the profound difference it made to her daughter’s anxiety and depression. After years of trying different approaches, Kate saw the power of going back to the root cause of a problem, rather than only managing the symptoms. That experience changed her daughter’s life, and ultimately changed Kate’s too.In our conversation, Kate speaks honestly about the life experiences that have shaped her, including her son’s stroke as a young child, her daughter’s mental health challenges, her own breast cancer diagnosis, and caring through family illness. We talk about the internal dialogue we may not even realise we are living with, and the importance of noticing our thoughts rather than automatically believing them. We also explore what happens when helping others becomes a virtue that costs us too much, and why Kate would love to ban the phrase “I don’t mind”.Because somewhere in the work of noticing our thoughts, naming our needs and admitting our preferences, we begin to remember that we are allowed to matter too.Connect with Kate:Website: https://www.katehoylehypnotherapy.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/katehoylehypnotherapy/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/hypnokate/Connect with Sue:Website: https://www.suerevell.com Social Media LinksFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/lifelovelegacy/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/suerevell_lifelovelegacy/Blue Sky: https://bsky.app/profile/suerevell.bsky.socialLinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/suerevell

The fine line between achievement and self-abandonment - with Sue Revell

Where are you abandoning yourself in the name of achievement? It’s a brave question. Especially when achievement has been rewarded, applauded, admired, or quietly used as proof that we are enough. In this Insights episode of Life, Love & Legacy, I’m reflecting on my conversation with Averil Price, The Legacy Coach. The interview was hugely thought-provoking and left me musing on a number of themes including success, burnout, recovery, alignment and the courage to live a life that feels true to who we are. This episode is not about rejecting ambition. Far from it.Sometimes striving for things teaches us how we grow, serve, protect, recover or create. But when achievement becomes the only way we know how to measure our worth, something starts to suffer.I explore the fine line between achievement and self-abandonment, the stories that can sit beneath proving and pushing, and why alignment is not about doing less - but actually about living with more truth.I also reflect on Averil’s beautiful idea of a ceremony of gratitude for still being here, and the thresholds we move through without ever pausing to honour what they cost, changed or revealed.Because legacy is not only about what we achieve. It’s about how honestly we live, how consciously we choose, and how courageously we return to ourselves. In this episode, I reflect on:when achievement starts to feel more like pressure than expressionhow striving can begin with care, loyalty, service or lovethe hidden stories beneath proving, pushing and holding it all togetherwhy alignment is not the same as opting outthe role of flow, grace and ease in a meaningful lifeAveril’s ceremony of gratitude for still being hereIf you're wondering what might be possible if you stopped leaving so much of yourself behind, this episode is for you.Connect with Sue:Website: https://www.suerevell.com Social Media LinksFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/lifelovelegacy/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/suerevell_lifelovelegacy/Blue Sky: https://bsky.app/profile/suerevell.bsky.socialLinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/suerevell

Redefining success: from achievement to alignment - with Averil Price

With more than three decades in public service and leadership, Legacy Coach Averil Price knows what it means to carry responsibility, strive for impact and build a successful career. But this conversation goes far deeper than professional achievement.Beyond the professional story you might expect, the leadership roles, the meaningful contribution and the visible success, there is also the more private story: of loss, identity, survival, recovery and re-invention, with many of the questions that can quietly reshape a life. Averil reflects on the experiences that changed her most, from discovering the truth about her father’s death at the age of 21 to surviving a life-changing brain haemorrhage in 2020; sharing how those moments invited her to re-think success, pace and purpose. What emerges is a deeply thoughtful conversation about legacy: not as something we leave behind at the end, but as something we live daily - through our choices, our courage, our relationships and the ripples we create in other people’s lives. Averil shares how that understanding has shaped both her own next chapter and the work she now does to help others honour their story and move forward with greater clarity and intention. We talk about transition, wellbeing, brave decisions, portfolio careers, and the importance of defining success on our own terms. This is a rich, grounded and quietly powerful conversation about what it means to live more consciously, and to shape a legacy that is already unfolding.Episode highlights:The personal story behind Averil’s work as the Legacy CoachDiscovering the truth about her father’s death, and the questions it left behindSurviving a brain haemorrhage and rethinking life, work and successMoving from achievement to alignmentLiving legacy now, through the ripples we create every dayReinvention, brave choices, and the shape of a meaningful next chapterConnect with Averil:Website: https://www.avieconsultancyltd.co.ukLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/averil-price-14674526/Connect with Sue:Website: https://www.suerevell.com Social Media LinksFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/lifelovelegacy/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/suerevell_lifelovelegacy/Blue Sky: https://bsky.app/profile/suerevell.bsky.socialLinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/suerevell

Not just any kindness: EXTRAORDINARY kindness - with Sue Revell

What if the person who most needs your kindness is you? And what if kindness calls us to something deeper, braver and more expansive than we ever imagined? In this solo Insights episode, I reflect on my conversation with Rich Waterman and the phrase that stayed with me long after we finished recording: extraordinary kindness. This is an exploration of what changes when we make kindness 'extraordinary'. Of the difference between kindness as niceness, and kindness as something more spacious, more courageous and more honest. I reflect on the way some concepts benefit from that added edge in deepening their meaning: from Radical Candor to Daring Greatly to Atomic Habits. I also consider why Rich’s phrase landed so powerfully with me.The episode also moves into deeper territory: self-kindness, presence, identity, love, and the quieter moments in life that shape us, even when they pass without applause or recognition. Because perhaps some of the most meaningful turning points are not the ones that the world sees, but the ones in which we meet ourselves differently.A thoughtful listen for anyone interested in personal growth, emotional honesty and the inner work of becoming more fully themselves.Highlights:(03:30) How one extra word can raise the bar(06:00) Why capable people are often least kind to themselves(07:25) Beyond performance: being, presence and humanity(08:55) Why this is also a reflection on love(09:40) The quieter moments that shape a life(11:10) The question I’m taking away from this episode Connect with Sue:Website: https://www.suerevell.com Social Media LinksFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/lifelovelegacy/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/suerevell_lifelovelegacy/Blue Sky: https://bsky.app/profile/suerevell.bsky.socialLinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/suerevell

Love, leadership and the practice of extraordinary kindness - with Rich Waterman

In this episode of Life, Love & Legacy, I’m joined by performance coach, speaker and former Tony Robbins trainer, Rich Waterman for a conversation about presence, performance, self-trust and what it really means to grow into the next version of yourself. With a background in investment banking and more than two decades in personal and organisational development, Rich now works with founders, leaders and high achievers who want to unlock deeper, more sustainable success.Together, Rich and I explore the life moments that shaped his path, including divorce, grief, identity shifts and a profoundly moving experience supporting a friend whose five-year-old daughter was dying from cancer. We talk about the difference between striving and being, why pain can become a teacher over time, and Rich’s powerful concept of extraordinary kindness: towards ourselves, the people around us, and the teams we lead. This is a rich conversation about love, leadership, legacy and the quiet inner shifts that change everything. In this episode, we explore:Rich’s journey from investment banking and high-performance environments into deeper work around being and presenceHow painful life events can reshape identity, values and purposeWhy presence is different from striving, and what it means to live from that spaceExtraordinary kindness, self-trust and learning not to abandon yourselfLove as a serious and necessary presence in leadership, teams and businessThe changing nature of trust, friendship and personal evolutionCelebration, memory and the quieter moments that shape a meaningful lifeLegacy, ripple effects and what it means to live what you most want to leave behindConnect with Rich:Website. https://richwaterman.comInstagram. https://www.instagram.com/richwaterman/Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/rich.watermanConnect with Sue:Website: https://www.suerevell.com Social Media LinksFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/lifelovelegacy/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/suerevell_lifelovelegacy/Blue Sky: https://bsky.app/profile/suerevell.bsky.socialLinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/suerevell

The quiet cost of hiding who we are - with Sue Revell

In this Insights episode of Life, Love and Legacy, I return to my conversation with Karen Haller and reflect on what happens when we stop treating self-expression as something superficial, and start recognising it as something far more honest, powerful and revealing.Inspired by Karen’s reflections on colour, courage and authenticity, this episode explores what it means to reconnect with ourselves in a world that so often pulls us away from what is true. I consider the courage it takes to live from the inside out, the quiet cost of hiding who we are, and the possibility that legacy is shaped not only by what we achieve, but by how truthfully we choose to live.If you’ve ever sensed that something in you wants to come back into alignment, with more honesty, more self-trust, and more of who you really are, this episode may speak to that place.Highlights:(01:40) A conversation that lingered(02:45) Why colour is never just decorative(04:50) The courage to follow an inner knowing(05:45) True expression versus performance(06:35) Reconnecting with nature, and with self(07:50) The legacy of living more truthfullyConnect with Sue:Website: https://www.suerevell.com Social Media LinksFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/lifelovelegacy/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/suerevell_lifelovelegacy/Blue Sky: https://bsky.app/profile/suerevell.bsky.socialLinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/suerevell

Colour, courage, and the legacy of true expression - with Karen Haller

In this episode, I’m joined by Karen Haller for a thoughtful conversation about colour psychology, self expression, and the moments that quietly change the course of a life.We talk about the unexpected turning point that led Karen from a corporate career into the world of colour, and how that path became something much deeper, a way of helping people reconnect with themselves, their spaces, and the natural world around them.We also get into courage, visibility, legacy, and what it means to keep following a calling even when hardly anyone understands it at first.Karen shares the personal cost of leaving safety behind, the fear she had to move through, and the message she hopes to leave behind, that colour is never just decoration, it is a language, a way of communicating who we are, and a tool for living more truthfully.Highlights:(02:32) - The moment Karen realised, oh my God, it’s colour(05:37) - Why colour psychology became the path she had to follow(08:40) - What she had to give up to honour that calling(18:48) - The legacy she hopes people will remember her for(32:38) - What’s emerging next in her work and why it matters(37:09) - Her closing reminder to live as your true selfConnect with Karen:Website. What does it mean to be born pre-approved? - with Sue Revell

In this first Insights episode of Life, Love and Legacy, I look back on my opening interview with award-winning independent celebrant Miranda Ash and share some of the deeper themes that stayed with me long after we stopped recording.Inspired by my conversation with Miranda, this Insights episode explores what her story might help us recognise in ourselves. I reflect on the idea that we are born with our worth already intact, and how life can sometimes cover over that truth with expectation, disappointment and the stories we begin to believe about who we are.If you’ve ever wondered how it would feel to remember your own worth, reclaim your freedom and live with greater purpose, this episode offers a thoughtful place to begin.Highlights:(01:15) The story behind Life, Love and Legacy(02:00) Why these Insights episodes matter(05:10) What Miranda means by being born “pre-approved”(05:45) The gold beneath the surface of self-worth(07:05) Freedom from other people’s expectations(08:30) Self-worth, freedom and purpose(09:45) Where in your life might there still be a layer covering your gold?Connect with Sue:Website: https://www.suerevell.com Social Media LinksFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/lifelovelegacy/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/suerevell_lifelovelegacy/Blue Sky: https://bsky.app/profile/suerevell.bsky.socialLinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/suerevell
