The Illusion of choice!
The Illusion of choice! If you want to be great at something, you have limited choices. In fact, you may have no choices. As a weight loss coach, I often see weight loss clients struggle with choice overwhelm which creates decision fatigue. This is often due to wanting things that don't align with their goals. There is a price to pay for the destination you are pursuing. Your choices must be aligned with your desired destination. If you want to lose 5 or more kg then there are a series of systems, processes (AKA HABITS) and choices that must be pre-decided that are aligned to the ultimate goal of losing weight. Here are 3 ways to avoid decision fatigue and help you move to your goals 1. Pre-decide your goals once 2. Remind yourself of the benefits 3. Invest time in your habits processes and systems And remember choice is an illusion if you want great results. The quickest path is the one with less choices. Let me know in the comments if you found this useful or if you need help with any of the 3.

Ageing is a choice - Episode 21
As a society we need to stop using age as an excuse for the way you look and feel. We are all guilty of using age related reasons for us not feeling a certain way or our joints being bad. The problem is that this is not true. Exercise has come a long way. The introduction of correctional and functional training has seen a massive improvement in the way fitness professionals focus on more then just making you sweat! The idea is to help you build strong and lean muscle so that you can begin to burn fat and also reduce pains and niggles. They are talking about most of us living near 100 even 140 these days. Ask yourself this. On your current trajectory. What would your quality of life be like? If you are over weight now, you have painful joints, low energy and little motivation. Do you want to spend the next 40+ years on that same path? Check out the video to learn a bit more and if you want help dropping some weight, reducing pain and moving better Dm us today @thinkfit_co

What is your health and fitness temperature? - Episode 20
Today I was listening to the GOAT Tony robins being interviewed by Lewis Howes. These are two of my favourite people when it comes to personal development and growth. Lewis was asking Tony about his new book Life Force which has some incredible information from over 150 Nobel scientists and the work he talked about was absolutely mind boggling But the thing that struck me today and I wanted to talk about was the power of Identity and the old analogy of the thermostat (air conditioner) vs the thermometer. Have a listen and then what I want you to do is think of your health and score yourself out of 10 degrees. 1 being sick in pain not healthy at all. 5 being in good health but could be fitter. Or 10 smashing it loving life enjoying myself making sensible decisions and thriving. Comment what temperature you are below I’d love to get a temperature check for the people listening along I appreciate you listening if you got this far please give me a like so I know my message is getting heard and we can spread these concepts further.

Healthy Mindset vs Diet Mindset - Episode 14
Episode 14 Healthy Mindset vs Diet Mindset The diet mindset - This is usually the type of mindset that has been conditioned into people from social media, other media, parents who struggled with their own weight issues and sometimes a calorie counting approach to weight loss. I say sometimes because there are certain situations when using this approach correctly it will get the desired outcome for the person. Within this mindset people confined themselves to very specific outcomes and behaviours and usually become very all or nothing orientated. They get stuck doing what worked initially and feel like they have to live this way forever in order to look good. This mindset can create a lot of hang ups for people and really do some damage both physically and mentally. A healthy mindset is that of the always something approach. This means choosing better 80% of the time. Enjoying their life making healthier options a choice most of the time and having healthy targets to approach which first aim to nourish the body and then results follow. At Think Fit our main goal is to help you understand what your ideal weight is and then how you can live it at your healthiest and happiest. This is determined by understanding the costs of getting lean and is it really worth it? Check out the video to learn more about Body Fat ranges and the benefits and trade-offs of each range!

So in our ideal weight journey and in life we need to learn to adapt to situations, make changes and move forward! There is a quote by Marcus Aurelius "The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way." This sounds contradictory at first. An obstacle blocks a path. It prevents progress. So How, then, can an obstacle to a goal become the way to the goal? How stoicism can help you with becoming your ideal weight - Episode 10
Welcome to episode 10 of the living your ideal weight podcast and today we have a special topic around stoicism which is a type of philosophy founded by Zeno of cilium in Athens! Now why would I be talking about stoicism? Because I believe the lessons closely intertwine with becoming your ideal weight. The school taught that virtue, the highest good, is based on knowledge; the wise live in harmony with the divine reason. Think about the outcomes of logical vs emotional driven people. You will often find the emotional outcome to be one of impulsive or irrational behaviour. Most of us who struggle to live our ideal weight from many of these rules. The key is to create awareness around them so we can then make better decisions. That is why I have highlighted 7 short rules from the stoics 1. Focus on what you can control = Take charge where you can and don't let things outside of your control affect your thoughts, feelings, actions and outcomes. 2. Don’t suffer imagined troubles = Don't let your imagination stop you from healthy changes. 3. Make a little progress each day = Make and show progress so you feel and become better! 4. Study the lives of the greats = Success leaves clues. Multiple ways work but you need to follow consistently and persistently 5. Define what success means to you = Know your outcome and what you are willing not willing to sacrifice for it. 6. The 4 virtues (ALWAYS REMEMBER) #1 Courage - Epictetus was once asked which words would help a person thrive. “Two words should be committed to memory and obeyed,” he said, “persist and resist.” = To have the courage to be persistence and resistant in the journey of achieving your weight loss goals. #2 Temperance - moderation in action, thought, or feeling referring to self control having what is essential then having what is enough. = To have the self control in face of food or alcohol, to do enough to succeed. #3 Justice - “Seeking the very best in ourselves means actively caring for the welfare of other human beings.” - Epictitus = When you are at your best health you can be there for others at a higher level. #4 Wisdom - “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response.” In that space is wisdom’s opportunity. Recognising that space is the first step. That space is where we either take the lessons from our reading and apply it or we throw it out the window and act impulsively and irrationally. = You can make decisions more aligned with your future self with wisdom and responding better! 7. Memento mori - “a Reminder that we all die. Let us prepare our minds as if we’d come to the very end of life. Let us postpone nothing. Let us balance life’s books each day. … The one who puts the finishing touches on their life each day is never short of time.” - Seneca. = Live your healthiest and best life to make the most of everyday! If you resonated with any of this leave a comment or like Remember you become what you think so Think Fit!

Your language will determine your outcomes! - Episode 9
Hey guys welcome to episode 9 of the living your ideal weight podcast. Today I want to talk about language and why it is so important when chasing your goals. When having conversations with clients who are struggling to make changes we notice they all have one thing in common. That is the language they use when talking about their goals or implementing new strategies to help them reach their goals. They often refer to words like “Try” when you think of the word try it usually doesn’t imply much effort will be put towards it. It leaves the door open to give a little bit of a go, almost as if you have let yourself off early. Where as if you changed try to I will or I Commit, I must there is more intention put forward and you are more likely to get your outcome. Why? Because our Psychology is geared up for one thing only to make you right. That is why its important to choose the right words to move forward. Listen to some of these words and start practising using a more powerful alternative! Hard - Replace with Challenge Discipline - Replace with get to focus structure / control / planned / routine Effort - Replace with challenge / effective / efficient / flow Tough - Replace with conditioning Required Wish Wait / Hope - Replace with I will Busy - Replace with productive or focused Want or Need - Replace with Must have or IMPORTANT Can’t - Replace with won’t do it or Don’t want to do it. Why not be honest and say you may be scared to say that you don’t want to. Should - Replace with will, must, want, desire, love too. I remember reading the book Neutral thinking by Trevor Mowad It claimed that Saying something out loud is 10X more powerful than thinking it. Data shows that negativity is a multiple of 4-7 times more powerful then positive words. So if you say negative things out loud it is 40-70 times more likely to occur. What if you didn’t say stupid stuff out loud. Complaining, whining, saying I cant. What if you avoided these pitfalls and made a habit of changing to more powerful words. Your life will radically change. The main idea of the book neutral thinking is that Neutral thinking means accepting that when something good or bad happens, it happens. Instead of getting caught up in the negativity, you accept it for what it is learn from it and and move on. Could you see how this would have a massive impact on what you achieve. Its not saying everything is positive but it gives you neutral ground to move forward from. Realising that the past isn’t an indication of future performance but your behaviours and actions determine your outcomes. So learning to use the right language to move you towards your goals is absolutely vital for your success. It’s not easy at first but it gets easier with practise. I challenge you for the next 30-days catch yourself in the act and reword your sentences to have better outcomes. If you got something out of this video let me know with a like or comment and remember you become what you Think so Think Fit.

Celebrate your plateaus! - Episode 8
Episode 8 Living your Ideal weight podcast - Celebrate your plateaus I Had a great chat with a member last night around being “Stuck at a plateau’ This same client has lost 6-8kg in the last 6 months of training. To some that may seem huge to some that may be small and we need to understand everyone has a different Frame of reference. For Chantal she is still excited by the loss but of course wants more. She was feeling a little deflated and had lost her mojo Since she began to plateau though a lot has changed for her and in the world as it has for everyone else. But to sum it up. She is been busier at work, moved, house, survived Christmas, has been working out a little bit less and eating a little bit more. BUT the amazing thing is she is still at the same weight.. Now why do I see this as amazing. Well like I said above Chantal has been busier at work, moved, house, survived Christmas, has been working out a little bit less and eating a little bit more. AND SHE IS STILL KEEPING UP SOMETHING! Getting to the gym at least twice a week. Any other program that most people jump on they usually lose the weight and put it straight back on! Once I helped her to realise that I saw another little spark. So the question remained do you want to continue with your journey. Of course she did! So all we had to do was reset some goals and focus on some quick wins to establish some momentum. This is an important lesson for anyone out there. A plateau Is not the end. It’s not a reason to throw everything out. It’s an opportunity to celebrate this new you. And your body loves that. It’s created a new normal! Sometimes we need to have a rest from the grind so that we have the energy and motivation to keep going. We then set a new starting point and work towards your next goal! The key take away I want you to get is, Celebrate the new you enjoy it and make sure you don’t fall off the wagon because of a plateau. This is a sign to maintain or to find a new strategy if the current one hasn’t worked for two weeks. And before you say I have been doing everything I'm meant to. If you aren't tracking it. YOU CAN’T MEASURE IT. So make sure you track what you are trying to improve. That is it from me guys! Hope you enjoyed this lesson and remember you become what you think so Think Fit!

Fears around becoming your ideal weight - Episode 6
Hey Guys welcome to living your ideal weight podcast and today I’m going to be talking about fears around becoming your ideal weight. I was at a business conference on the weekend and one of the underlying concerns for some trying to grow their business was the fear of change or the fear of unknown. This is something that is so common on your weight loss journeys and that is why I thought it was super relevant. You see if you spent your whole life overweight, it kind of becomes your identity, you have less confidence, you tend to hide away or you over compensate in some areas. The thought of this changing would mean that a huge identity shift is required. You would not be doing most of the things you are now because you are the sum of your choices. Letting go of who you are is hard until you can clearly see who you will become as that new person. Other fears include Fear of missing out If your social circle is massive on food and drinks of course initially you will feel like you can’t participate or feel like you will disrespect an elder due to not eating huge servings and all the food available. But the thing is, learning to choose what is right for you and your goals will lead to a happier and healthier life. You don’t need to avoid all situations in life you just need to learn to set BRIGHT lines around what you will accept for yourself and what you won’t. With the addition of the always something approach. Fear of judgement When announcing that you are let’s say joining think fit to friends or joining our nutrition program, people will feel judged. You may have tried plenty of things before with no luck so you may feel like a failure. People often comment and joke about peoples weightless failures which is absolutely bullshit, its not easy but it’s simple. These people also feel inadequate most of the time because they two should be doing something about their own situations. “I am an old man and have known a great many troubles, but most of them never happened.”—Mark Twain So how do you get over these fears? Define them using Tim Ferris’ fear setting activity I'll post the questions in the comments. If you are nervous about making the jump or simply putting it off out of fear of the unknown, here is your antidote. Write down your answers, and keep in mind that thinking a lot will not prove as fruitful or as prolific as simply brain vomiting on the page. Write and do not edit—aim for volume. Spend a few minutes on each answer. Hope you enjoyed and are staying safe. Comment below if this idea helps or you know anyone it could help.

Clarity is Vitality - Episode 5
Hey Guys welcome to Episode 5 of the living your ideal weight podcast Today's podcast is titled clarity is vitality which Ill have to thank Jerome who I’ve done some mindset work with in introducing me to this phrase. This is something I have struggled with of late. So much uncertainty within business and everything going on in the world makes it hard to predict business direction and growth + the increasing costs of services etc it really impacts the direction you want to go. I’m sure many of you can relate with this in terms of your health journey. You want that body that you have been craving. But you also want to seek connection from family and friends. You aren’t sure what to do with that it usually ends with nothing. Yesterday we sat down at our Elite business coaching event and the first idea was re-establishing clarity for what we wanted which was an awesome idea we spent about 30min getting some ideas down but will need to expand on it over the week. In the last two episodes I have mentioned this too take some time and figure out what you actually want. Choose some important areas. Family Friends Relationships Health Fitness Finances Rate them out of 10. Decide where you actually want them to be in 1 or 3 years and what they look like when you get to the level you want. Thinking in month blocks is to short term thinking for lifestyle decisions. You only just get started with momentum by the 30-days. What is important about this is by creating a vision for the future that you are excited about, you can move towards it. If you are depressed it usually means you are looking at the past and things that you cant Control, but if you look to the future you have power over that. The trick is to enjoy the now too. Make sure you are doing things that you need to do daily to feed the soul. For me thats personal development and growth thats a massive driver and I aim to have that in each of my days. Tony robins actually has a driving forces exercise you can do on his website to give you some ideas. When it comes to health and weight knowing exactly what you are willing to sacrifice in order to gain is really important. IF you want your social life to be a 10 but all your friends are drinkers and big eaters. You will find that it will be hard to change your body shape. 100% you will get healthier physically and mentally by staying fit and active but body composition will not be easy. This is part of what we teach at Think Fit and that is the cost of getting lean. In life to get lean there are trade offs. Let’s establish what you are willing to do and stop feeling so guilty for not doing it. Lets find an always something approach where you are fit healthy and happy. Because fit and unfulfilled and miserable isn’t a healthy outcome. So spend some time today reflecting on where you are, figuring out where you want to be and figure out the steps to bridge the gap. If you have no idea find a coach or someone who has been through the journey and get some coaching. If you want help from us send me a dm or one of our pages. We are on a to shift the way people perceive health and fitness so they can live their happiest and healthiest life at their ideal weight.

The Camp Fire Effect - Episode 4
Welcome episode 4 of the living your ideal weight podcast! This topic is a very important one and it’s one you will hear from tonnes of people in the personal growth space but it applies heavily to any part of your life. The campfire effect basically the people around you will have the largest impact on your life. If those people are positive or negative, moving towards their goals or have no goals, spend like crazy or invest, live a healthy lifestyle or don’t the thing is you will end up somewhat like them. People also refer to this as you are the sum of the five people you hang around. The first time I felt this effect was 4 years ago I joined a business coaching group for fit pros called game changer. It was an absolute game changer for myself and Elise. We sat down in a room of people who were further ahead then we we were. Who were older then we were but all had a general direction of wanting to grow their business, help more people, have more freedom and make a living. The conversations were different the ideas were flowing and it was an amazing opportunity to really shift think fit from a hobby to a business. Now why am I talking about this? It applies to every area of your life. The behavioural change pyramid has environment as one of the foundations of change. This is because if you take someone out of their environment like the biggest loser you will usually see good results. There isn’t any external influences and they can focus on what they need to with the right support. This is why you need to become part of a group to help yourself move forward. To be surrounded by the right people and to make sure you know what to do next. If this isn't available the best thing to do is to modify your environment remove foods or anything else that may impact what you do. Get a coach who can support you and give you the right information at the right time. Even god information at the wrong time can be bad information. Next start listening and reading material that will move you towards your goals. Remember who you hang around matters! If you need help in the health and fitness domain we can certainly help you out just touch base on one of our socials and we can figure out an action plan.
