Logger & Critical Error

While we've had a couple of mixes showcasing my favourite tracks that were being smashed out on the party scene at the time as well as a studio mix from the Peak Logger & Gnetic era, this next instalment in the Mix Archive series demonstrates what I wanted to do as a DJ at the time. Where a lot of people want to play sets made up of their favourite tracks they've heard played out, I always wanted to be bringing something new and individual to the table and try to bring people their favourite tracks of tomorrow. The DJ's that I appreciated the most where those that brought me tunes for the first time and I wanted to do the same. So while I was blowing half of my monthly wage on tracking down the classics, the other half was going on new music to shape my own sound. For me it was also important that you were taken on a journey, especially with a recorded set where the pressure to maintain a full dancefloor was absent, allowing a bit of experimentation. As a result this set covers a sprinkling of many of the genres I was listening to at the time - while mostly consisting of Hard Trance and Hardstyle, there's also a pinch of Dutch Hardcore, Uk Hardcore and some Freeform. These tracks were largely unheard on the party scene at the time and have had equal influence in what I was doing on the production front as the tracks I was raving to each weekend in a field somewhere in Oxfordshire or the Home Counties. I've unleashed the first mix dug out of the archives found on a rotten corner of my hard drive - This one's mostly made up of Free Party favourites and was recorded for personal listening rather than be an example of what represented me as a DJ at that time. Recorded in a bedroom sometime in late 2004 / early 2005 this mix documents a lot of the tunes being hammered on the scene at the time - some are still played to this day and some are forgotten gems. I'll get a track list together at some point - I just wanted to throw the mix out there for now!

We've dug out this little remix of RBA's classic "No Alternative" from Logger & Gnetic in 2009. Originally produced for a remix competition on quite a tight timescale, it evidently didn't win and although it was never released featured heavily in our sets for a couple of years and gets an occasional sneaky play in current Logger & Critical Error sets. I'm sure it goes without saying but this is heavily influenced by the Brooklyn Bounce remix with a couple of Logger & Gnetic twists. We decided not to deviate too far from the version that had already cemented itself as a free party classic over the years. Feel free to download and let us know what you think
