Emily Armstrong, known for her powerful stage presence and raw vocal energy, has always fascinated me. Her intensity, confidence, and charisma make her an incredible subject to illustrate. As I worked on this piece, I wanted to capture her essence, not just by adapting her into the Simpsons universe but by enhancing her personality through subtle artistic choices. The artwork showcases Emily mid-performance, gripping the microphone as she delivers a passionate vocal. Her expression is fierce yet focused, with arched brows and piercing eyes. I paid special attention to her hair, giving it detailed shading and movement, making it flow naturally despite the simplified cartoon aesthetic. At this stage, I focused on capturing Emily’s pose, proportions, and facial expression. Since The Simpsons characters have exaggerated features, I had to adapt her face while maintaining her recognizable essence. Once the sketch felt right, I proceeded with the line art. I carefully refined the contours, ensuring that the clean, bold lines reflected the Simpsons style while keeping enough detail in her hair and outfit to retain my artistic signature. Coloring was where the magic truly began. I selected a warm yet slightly desaturated skin tone to match the show's aesthetic while choosing deeper, richer shades for her clothing to make her stand out. Her blonde hair was a challenge, as I wanted to balance the simplicity of The Simpsons with more depth and volume. To add depth and realism, I worked on shadows next. Soft but effective shading was applied, particularly around her face, neck, and folds of her clothing, to give the character more dimension without straying too far from the cartoon style. Highlights were crucial for bringing the illustration to life. I subtly added light reflections to her hair, microphone, and accessories, ensuring that the textures and materials felt distinct. The eyes, especially, benefited from a small highlight to enhance her expression. The final touch was the background. I opted for a blurred stage setting with deep blue and purple hues, creating a contrast that emphasizes Emily as the focal point. A glowing outline around her enhances the dynamic feel, making her presence pop, as if she were under a spotlight. El proceso de esta ilustración comenzó con un boceto inicial. En esta etapa, me concentré en capturar la pose, las proporciones y la expresión facial de Emily. Como los personajes de Los Simpsons tienen rasgos exagerados, tuve que adaptar su rostro sin perder su esencia reconocible. Una vez que el boceto se sintió adecuado, pasé al delineado. Refiné cuidadosamente los contornos, asegurándome de que las líneas limpias y marcadas reflejaran el estilo de Los Simpsons, pero manteniendo suficientes detalles en su cabello y atuendo para conservar mi firma artística. El coloreado fue donde realmente comenzó la magia. This artwork was an exciting experiment, blending my love for digital art with my appreciation for both The Simpsons and powerful vocalists like Emily Armstrong. It’s been four months since I last uploaded a piece, and coming back with a Splinterlands-inspired illustration has been an incredible experience. For this comeback, I decided to reinterpret Endless Gibbon in a chibi-anime style, giving it a more expressive and charming look. This little warrior monkey radiates energy, and I wanted to capture that in every detail: its fluffy golden fur, its huge, gleaming eyes, and its fierce yet adorable pose. The red belt reinforces its fighter identity and adds a beautiful contrast to the warm tones of its body. From the moment I started working on this fan art, I felt a mix of excitement and nostalgia. I won’t deny that I was a bit nervous after so much time without sharing a drawing, but as soon as I began sketching, I remembered just how much I love this process. ¡Hola a todos! Para este regreso, decidí reinterpretar al personaje Endless Gibbon con un estilo anime-chibi, dándole un toque más expresivo y encantador. Este pequeño mono guerrero tiene una energía vibrante que quería capturar en cada detalle: su pelaje dorado y esponjoso, sus enormes ojos brillantes y su pose combativa pero adorable. Su cinturón rojo refuerza su identidad de luchador y agrega un hermoso contraste con los tonos cálidos de su cuerpo. The Endless Apes are a confederation of ape troops united under the leadership of Lobb Lowland, the awakened gorilla. Among them are several troops of gibbons—arboreal primates with long arms that allow them to swing nimbly from tree to tree. Process / Proceso It all started with the sketch, where I outlined the main silhouette and defined the pose. I wanted Endless Gibbon to have a strong and determined attitude without losing the cuteness of the chibi style. To achieve this, I exaggerated the proportions of its head and eyes, making sure it conveyed both ferocity and charm. I also worked on the fur texture to make it look fluffy and dynamic. Next came the line art, where I used strokes of varying thickness to add depth to the character. I ensured that each strand of its fur had fluidity and that its expression stood out with strength. The thick lines around the eyes and hands helped create a striking effect, while I kept the body’s lines softer to balance the composition. The coloring phase was the most fun. I chose warm tones for the fur, with a subtle gradient to give it a more natural look. For the eyes, I used a mix of purple and black with intense highlights, making them the focal point. The red belt was a detail I particularly enjoyed painting, as it adds dynamism and stands out beautifully against the character’s colors. When it came to shading, I applied a soft but well-defined light source, adding depth to the fur and folds of the belt. I also subtly shaded the face to give it more volume, especially around the eyes and cheeks. The highlights were key to making the character look more vibrant. I added reflections to the tips of the hair, skin, and eyes, bringing the character to life. The intense shine in the eyes emphasized its determined yet playful expression. For the background, I wanted something special: instead of a complex setting, I opted for a blurred version of the original character. This technique keeps Endless Gibbon as the focal point while also creating a sense of motion and depth. The final result gives the piece a dynamic and striking effect, perfect for showcasing its relentless warrior spirit. Todo comenzó con el boceto, donde tracé la silueta principal y definí la postura. Quería que Endless Gibbon tuviera una actitud fuerte y decidida, pero sin perder el encanto característico del estilo chibi. Por eso, exageré las proporciones de su cabeza y sus ojos, asegurándome de que transmitiera tanto ferocidad como ternura. También trabajé en la textura del pelaje para que se viera esponjoso y dinámico. Luego pasé al delineado, utilizando trazos de diferentes grosores para dar profundidad al personaje. Me aseguré de que cada mechón de su cabello tuviera fluidez y que su expresión resaltara con fuerza. El grosor de las líneas en los ojos y las manos ayudó a dar un efecto más impactante, mientras que en el cuerpo mantuve un trazo más suave para equilibrar la composición. La parte más divertida fue el coloreado. Opté por tonos cálidos para el pelaje, con un degradado sutil que le dio un aspecto más natural. Para los ojos, usé una combinación de morado y negro con reflejos intensos, asegurándome de que fueran el centro de atención. El cinturón rojo fue un detalle que disfruté mucho pintar, ya que añade dinamismo y resalta entre los colores del personaje. Cuando llegó el momento de aplicar las sombras, trabajé con una iluminación suave pero definida, añadiendo profundidad en el pelaje y en los pliegues del cinturón. También sombreé ligeramente el rostro para dar más volumen, especialmente alrededor de los ojos y las mejillas. Los brillos fueron clave para darle un aspecto más vibrante. Agregué reflejos en las puntas del cabello, en la piel y en los ojos, lo que hizo que el personaje se sintiera más vivo. Me aseguré de que el brillo en los ojos fuera intenso, resaltando su expresión determinada y juguetona. Para el fondo, decidí hacer algo especial: en lugar de un escenario complejo, opté por una difuminación del personaje original. Esta técnica ayuda a que Endless Gibbon se mantenga como el foco principal de la ilustración, pero al mismo tiempo, genera una sensación de movimiento y profundidad. El resultado final crea un efecto dinámico y llamativo, perfecto para destacar su esencia de guerrero incansable. Returning after four months without posting art has been an emotional journey, but this illustration reminded me how much I love drawing and sharing my work with all of you.
