Lost and Searching with Seven Jacobs

As a child, I faced challenges like rough sleeping, family loss, and neglect. Despite a long journey of loss, loneliness, social anxiety, and confusion, something pulled me forward. Eventually I dropped out of university for entrepreneurship, became obsessed with psychology and philosophy, and co-founded businesses and communities. Things improved. My work led me to believe that we are ALL leaders. So, the goal of this show is to help you discover and cultivate that YOU that you want to be more of. Conversations about the world, humanity, and self-leadership can be expected here. Welcome.

Do We Fear Failing Ourselves? You CAN Build Resilience Despite Uncertainty! | Nana Parry, Innovator

We're told resilience is about bouncing back from failure. But what if we've got it all wrong? What if true resilience is about building capacity before we even need to recover? With over 12 years of business ownership experience and as director of customer research agency Tectonic, Nana has spent her career at the intersection of technology and human understanding. Cluso leverages the fact that we send 7 billion voice notes daily on WhatsApp alone, replacing traditional text-based surveys with voice responses that capture nuance and emotion. The platform supports 30+ languages and uses AI to help create surveys that actually engage people, achieving completion rates that traditional surveys can only dream of.Today, expect to learn: Why we fear not reaching our potential and how childhood pressures shape this anxietyHow to build genuine resilience by expanding your capacity rather than just bouncing backWhat an internal locus of control means and why it's crucial for taking ownership of your lifeHow stoicism can help you prepare for worst-case scenarios and build confidenceWhy voice technology captures human emotion in ways text never could How to practice courage, discernment, and resilience as learnable skillsWhy questioning your personal narratives is essential for growthHow entrepreneurial failures can become your greatest teachersAnd more!!Voice technology represents a fundamental shift in how we understand human emotion and opinion. While we naturally use voice to express nuance, sarcasm, and complex feelings in daily life, traditional research methods strip away this richness through text-based surveys. When You Achieve All Your Goals, You Still Feel Empty? | Emma Steenson, Exited Founder

We're taught that financial success and early retirement are the ultimate goals. But what happens when you achieve them and still feel empty? Why does having unlimited choices sometimes feel more paralyzing than liberating? Emma discovered that "doing too little can be just as draining as doing too much" - so what should we focus on instead?👉 Find the full playlist of episodes HERE: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLO6l9CNQoSFdYrSofAAHBcTdsnpYk8iYgEmma Steenson is a property investor, former management consultant, and executive coach who experienced "accidental early retirement" in her mid-30s after selling her successful business. Despite achieving financial independence and reaching what seemed like her finish line, she found that remaining idle without purpose was unsatisfying and draining. This led her to redefine success and train as a coach focused on helping SME founders and business owners who feel stuck or unfulfilled despite external success. Emma's work centers on helping leaders realign their goals with their own values to create meaningful momentum.Today, expect to learn: The unexpected challenges of achieving financial independence too early and the existential vacuum it can create. Why "doing too little can be just as draining as doing too much" and what this means for our relationship with work and rest. How the paradox of choice makes unlimited options feel paralyzing rather than liberating, and what to do about it.The crucial difference between happiness (a fleeting emotion) and contentment (a deeper, more sustainable state). Why tunnel vision toward goals can be both helpful and harmful, and how to develop better discernment. How societal expectations and inherited models of success no longer fit our rapidly changing world. The role of coaching and reflective conversations in helping people clarify what they truly want beyond external expectations. Why letting go of finding "the one right answer" is essential for moving forward, even when it feels uncomfortable.Practical strategies for self-coaching and using trusted friends as thinking partners when professional coaching isn't accessible. How to redefine success through work-life integration, personal values alignment, and finding joy in daily moments rather than chasing abstract goals. And more!Research shows that early retirement often requires restructuring life purpose, with many retirees experiencing the "retirement paradox" - dissatisfaction despite newfound freedom. The "paradox of choice" demonstrates how excessive options lead to anxiety and decision paralysis. Studies distinguish between momentary happiness and longer-term contentment, with contentment proving more sustainable. Executive coaching has been proven to improve self-efficacy and life satisfaction, while traditional linear career models are increasingly being replaced by flexible, multifaceted approaches to success.W H A T T O D O N E X T :GUEST LINKS ~WEBSITE: https://emmasteenson.comLINKEDIN: https://www.linkedin.com/in/emmasteenson/HOST LINKS ~WEBSITE: https://sevenjacobs.comSUBSTACK: https://sevenjacobs.substack.comSOCIALS: https://sevenjacobs.com/linksSHOW LINKS ~WEBSITE: https://sevenjacobs.com/lost-and-searchingYOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/@lostandsearchingpodcastALL EPISODES (Spotify): https://creators.spotify.com/pod/show/lostandsearchingALL EPISODES (Apple): https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/lost-and-searching/id1771369908

We live in a world designed for neurotypical brains, forcing millions of neurodivergent people to "mask" their true selves daily just to survive. But what's the real cost of this constant performance? And how can we build systems that celebrate neurological differences rather than suppress them?👉 Find the full playlist of episodes HERE: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLO6l9CNQoSFdYrSofAAHBcTdsnpYk8iYg Tania Gerard is a neurodiversity trainer, accessible marketing consultant, and keynote speaker who founded Tania Gerard Digital UK. Masking refers to the exhausting practice of suppressing natural behaviours to appear neurotypical. WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) provides standards for making digital content accessible to people with disabilities, while sensory overload occurs when the nervous system receives more input than it can process effectively.W H A T T O D O N E X T :GUEST LINKS ~WEBSITE: https://www.taniagerard.co.ukLINKEDIN: https://www.linkedin.com/in/tania-gerard-neurodiversity/INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/taniagerard.co/HOST LINKS ~WEBSITE: https://sevenjacobs.com SUBSTACK: https://sevenjacobs.substack.com SOCIALS: https://sevenjacobs.com/linksSHOW LINKS ~WEBSITE: https://sevenjacobs.com/lost-and-searchingYOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/@lostandsearchingpodcastALL EPISODES (Spotify): https://creators.spotify.com/pod/show/lostandsearchingALL EPISODES (Apple): https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/lost-and-searching/id1771369908SOURCES: - ADHD UK Profile: https://adhduk.co.uk/2025/02/04/tania-gerard/ - Champions Speakers Agent: https://champions-speakers.co.uk/speaker-agent/tania-gerard - TEDx Talk on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCP-Ofou-14 - Alt Marketing School Podcast episode: https://altmarketingschool.com/ep250/

    7 Lessons from 34 Episodes of Podcasting (And what's next) | Ep35

REINTRODUCING: The Lost and Searching Podcast with Seven JacobsWhen I was young, I faced challenges like rough sleeping, family loss, poverty, and neglect. I was left feeling that if I hadn’t been around, life wouldn’t be so hard for everyone around me. This started a long journey of loss, loneliness, and confusion. I felt an intense desire to make the world a better place, but my inner conflict only allowed my anger to come out into the world, and none of the impact I wanted. Then as a teenager, I dropped out of university to get into entrepreneurship. Despite intense social anxiety, something pulled me to create my own future. And for a long time, I failed at that. I spent almost a decade doing nothing but failing. Again, feeling lost, searching for answers, and never feeling good enough.Over the years I co-founded 4 businesses, built 3 communities of thousands, and worked with some of the world’s biggest companies. Slowly improving, I built proof that I could do and be better. I became obsessed with psychology and philosophy, to try to support myself and those around me. My energy and impact started improving, and an important realisation dawned on me: We are all leaders. That includes you. The goal of this show is to help you discover and cultivate the version of yourself that you want to be more of. Anything to do with any important aspect of life, the world, humanity, and self-leadership can be expected here. The world is going through a tough time right now, and many are feeling lost in life and are searching for answers. But I don’t want anyone to feel left behind like I once did.Instead, I want everyone to feel energised and alive. By finding direction and understanding what it really means to be a leader, we can change our lives radically for the better. (Or so I believe). My dedication is to ensuring you’re as empowered, aware, and effective in life as possible, in discovery of your purpose, place, and potential. The show is NOT just an interview with a guest. It’s a conversation, where our episodes are deep talks to answer spicy questions with epic people. Each episode answers hard questions that help us progress in some aspect of our personal development. Our listeners are seekers who want those answers. We speak to all kinds of incredible people to help achieve this goal, from business leaders to entrepreneurs, community leaders to political leaders, spiritual leaders and philosophers, activists, writers, and more.Join me twice a week as we build a community of the strongest, wisest, most courageous self-leaders on the planet — and go on this journey of discovery and energetic transformation together.I’m delighted to have you here.

Spoiler: the balance of hunger, comfort, and pressure in our lives determines and reveals it. What are the most common ways we see people getting in their own way? We all have natural strengths, but how do we identify what they are? Is venture capital "good for the world" - or really encouraging it to get worse? Is success down to talent, effort, or luck? Why is your definition of luck (probably) all wrong? Why does marketing need a rebrand, and if so, what does it need to be instead? And more! ABOUT THIS SHOW

Welcome.
