    LOUD Podcast #001 - The Evolution of LOUD feat. hosts Renmin & Wendy

    This is the first episode of LOUD Podcast featuring our hosts Wendy and Renmin as they discuss their backgrounds and the evolution of LOUD Magazine. Host WENDY: WENDY VILLANUEVA has been an active member of the local punk movement since the mid-80s. She was still in grade school when she became part of a punk tribe called Wudsmen in 1985 and has been listening to punk rock since then. This female pioneer in skateboarding formed her first punk band "Dogtown" in 1987. This was followed by more bands, including Envois (with Dodong Cruz of The Youth, Pat of Genital Grinder & H8red) in 1987, Emptycups (with Emer of Askals) in 1989, and WUDS (as a back-up singer) for the recording of "Me in the Middle" in 1989 and other studio recordings. Starting at the turn of the millennium, she became a member of more bands, including Isla de Lata in 2004 and Republika de Lata in 2006. In 2012, she co-founded The Republicats with Renmin Nadela, a punk-ska band who released their debut album "Disconnected" in 2018. Wendy was the co-host for the Jam 88.3 FM radio show The Punk Connection alongside punk hardcore legend Al Dimalanta of Dead Ends and Throw. After 2 years of convincing from Agaw Agimat founder, Renmin Nadela... In 2016, Wendy eventually accepted the challenge and joined the band, signaling the continuation of Agaw Agimat's legacy. Since joining AA, Wendy already wrote 3 new songs, "Antok", "Maghihintay", and "Mamatay Ka Sa Inggit", all three having official music videos on YouTube and Facebook. Host RENMIN: RENMIN NADELA is an artist, drummer, songwriter, writer, record producer, events organizer, actor, director, activist, entrepreneur, and self-proclaimed carpenter. He is the founding drummer of 90’s band Yano. He is the founder, songwriter, and band leader of 90’s band Agaw Agimat which released 4 solo albums since 1993 (currently working on the 5th). Renmin wrote their hit single “Sabi Nila” in 1991 which was part of their Gold Record awarded debut album “R 15”, released in 1995 under Alpha Records. In 1999, he founded a local clothing brand Guerrilla Wear which would later be acknowledged as the OG of local street wear, inspiring majority of the early local street wear brands. Since the late 90s, he has been producing and releasing independent albums under his own independent record labels Banana Heart Records, Guerrilla Music, and 40cm Records. In 2006, Renmin published a mini magazine called LOUD while functioning as the Editor-In-Chief. In 2012, Renmin co-founded the Punk Ska band The Republicats with his wife and vocalist, Wendy. The band released their debut album “Disconnected” in 2018. In 2016, he is the creator, Executive Producer and co-host, of radio show THE PUNK CONNECTION which airs every Saturday from 5-7pm on Jam 88.3 FM (Manila) until 2022. On this show in 2017, he dreamt of what would now become PUNKULTURA, a yearly art and music exhibition to celebrate punk art, music, and culture. In 2019, he created BANDANG X, a show/gathering of 90’s bands that takes the audiences back to the 90’s era, rocking it out again like it was yesterday. A real time machine. In 2022, Renmin founded an NGO for musicians, Musika - Sining at Kultura, para sa Reporma (MUSIKERO) which he is passionately pushing forward to serve the musicians, look after their welfare, and fight for their rights. *The LOUD Podcast is produced by CDM Pictures.
