Born on November 30, 1874, in Clifton (now New London), Prince Edward Island, Canada, Lucy Maud Montgomery rose to international acclaim, bringing the charm of Prince Edward Island and Canada to the literary forefront. While she is best remembered for her beloved Anne of Green Gables series, Montgomery was also a prolific author of short stories and poetry, with around 500 short stories and 20 novels to her name before her passing in 1942.
