Little recreation of a set I did on a nice Sunday while in the depths of my feels after an emotional and inspiring debut solo performance at @yknl's infamous #MchuziMix event. The set I ACTUALLY did was very different. I was afraid people wouldn't like what I had prepared and veered off into some hip-hop and trap I liked and had carried as an extra (good thing having 3 aliases you see). In the end, I settled into a flow and played from the heart. Most of what is in this set never ended up being played in the order it's played in here or was skipped entirely because I felt the crowd wouldn't vibe. I picked this as my submission for the Wake Up Dancing community because it's the first place after @monument-podcast that I felt amongst a community of music-loving, genre-indiscriminate people. An online forum that runs late into the night (EAT) with people from all over the world who are sharing all sorts of music from downtempo to heavy acid techno? Where do I give blood and sign with it behind my ears? Anyway, I hope you all feel this set for the dark times that I used it to try and get out of. The lads @jinkubeats, @konfusedkenstartine and myself did this set at Distant Relatives Eco Lodge by the pool on the last day of the East African Soul Train (EAST) experience (facebook.com/eastsoultrain). This was right before the madness that would be 13 days stranded on Zanzibar island and in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania with no money and in some ever-dicey circumstances that I am still dealing with to date (https://www.facebook.com/evans.m.campbell/posts/10210771256269959). As you can imagine, this was a very pleasant surprise to find about a month on. I hope you enjoy all 3 hours of it.
