Leur organisation sociale est assez proche de celle des dauphins notamment pour des évènements dont l'explication pose encore beaucoup de question : les échouages.Chaque année, l'archipel du Cap-Vert répertorie des échouages de cétacés, dauphins ou petites baleines. En général des pépenocéphales ou des globicéphales. L'origine de ces échouages demeure encore assez méconnue. Les restes des animaux ont fini par se décomposer en abandonnant quelques morceaux à la mer. Cela a pour habitude d'attirer d'autres animaux, les plus gros charognards de la mer, les requins. Les requins coursent très rarement des proies vivantes et dynamiques, comme le font les dauphins par exemples. Ce sont des fainéants, des charognards, qui préfèrent s'attaquer aux proies faibles ou mortes. Ils nettoient ainsi les océans des cadavres et de leurs maladies. UQuelques jours après l'échouage du groupe de globicéphales, je me suis rendu sur place et ai envoyé mon drone pour vérifier si certains requins avaient été attirés par les restes décomposés des cétacés. Je n'ai pas cherché très longtemps pour ttrouver les premiers squales. Deux gros requins tigres et certainement d'autres plus petits attendant leur tour, étaient déjà présents sur le site. Certains n'hésitant pas à risquer de s'échouer à leur tour pour récupérer les restes des globicéphales.
