Margaret MacMillan - Planning War before 1914

Margaret MacMillan (St Anthony's College, Oxford) will give a series of lectures about war and society and militarism in Europe before 1914; thinking about war; planning for war; and then the nature of World War One itself.AbstractThis lecture looks at the changing relationship between war and European society after the French Revolution as well as the changing nature of war itself. Topics to be covered include the military and changes in its organization, technology, and training as well as the trend towards total war.
