Mateo Lopez is a Los Angeles native that first appeared on the Louisiana college scene in 2006 with a well-received cover of John Legend’s “Ordinary People,” to whom he later became compared thanks to comedian/emcee Robert Powell, III. Mateo has managed to remain relevant and respected force among his peers and fan base thanks to a versatile repertoire that transcends any single genre. His original music is playfully confessional and autobiographical, painting a picture for the listener to interpret. His style pulls from his wide array of performance experience with hints jazz fusion, blues, folk, R&B, and Broadway music, featuring his classically trained Baritone vocals that demonstrate a four octave range (A2-G6).His stage presence began in 2006 with a role in “The Game of Love,” as the young poet Flieder.
