Gosford Town (Arrival, 2017)
Took the long road up to Gosford town Took the red road north to old Gosford Found a motel, we made love for the first time Waiting for a message from the man Big Tom let us in, asked if we were just friends Said the pool’s quite clean, if you want to cool your machine But the pool look like you wouldn’t come out if you got in There was a broken doll, and a sad toy soldier Try to keep up your mood, it’s always better You stay in bed too long Waiting for a message from the man Woken by the rains, gushing from the rooftops Rising from the drains, Sydney’s electrical skies I feel young and I feel old Waiting for a message from the man Where is my letter, to put in my muddy soul I put myself under useless pressure At the mercy of the state Waiting for a message from the man A 10 k hike down route 49 A supermarket, a pharmacy, I did it my way Black and blue super storm, out to sea But it was headed in My easy east To the town of Terrigal Statelessness nags my soul I wanted to keep what I had got (tell the man)

Arrival (Arrival, 2017)
As my plane touched down I finished my prayer A cool wave washed over me My journey so long so sleepless the hours But in time I would be free Arrival, arrival Doesn’t China seem a world away, My friends waited for me, I sucked in the humid air Nuptial love shone in their faces Dude gave the biggest hug, the dude is like a bear No sooner laid down with my private thoughts, Cruelly the light flooded in And like a bat out of hell I jolted out of bed, Cockatoos ringing round my head Sunshine, sunshine Australian mango, one of the pleasures of my life And the Australian summer Baked my head like a potato Jacaranda on the corner At midday I did a 10K run, But we’re all a little crazy Down to the sea that afternoon our group, I swam out but I didn’t see the rip Waves struck my head, like wicked planks of wood, And in the thick weeds my legs kicked Carried away Then saved I flopped my body on the sand I acted tough, and we all laughed But my heart was beating fast But my heart was beating fast But my heart was beating fast Sometime later I felt renewed, I walked the coast I watched the surfers for hours and hours . I felt alone Those friends I knew went away but I was glad the old friendships Remained steady though we had changed, our connection was the same Clovelly, Tamarama As the Sailboats bobbed and I fell into a trance Until dusk then I sailed away Sailing away sailing away Down to Caringbah for my final day I prepared to say goodbye Packed my Australian mind away Back to Abercarn, I was born and brought up there To South Wales, the first buds of the valley touching my heart
