Mindful Music | Shakey Graves
Born Alejandro Rose-Garcia, Shakey Graves career began as a one-man show as a busker for the Edward Sharpe and the Mumford &Sons Railroad Revival Tour in 2011. He released his solo debut album Roll the Bones album that same year. He quickly evolved as an artist and was signed to Dualtone Records, after which he formed his band which led to the release of the 2014 LP, And Then the War Came. In 2015 he won Best Emerging Artist at the Americana Music Awards. Since this time he has produced several more records, including Can’t Wake Up, which came out in 2018, and the Look Alive EP which was released in 2020. Shakey Graves is on tour now in support of his latest album, Movie of the Week. He’s going to be playing in Toronto at Massey Hall on November 11th.

Mindful Music | Webb Wilder
Webb Wilder was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and is a member of the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame. His first album, It Came From Nashville, was released in 1986 and his most recent, Night Without of Love was released in 2020. Webb also happens to come from music royalty. His aunt was Lillian McMurry, who operated Trumpet Records and was responsible for classic recordings by Elmore James and Sonny Boy Williamson. Webb is touring and slated to perform several dates throughout the south and Midwest. He has also moderated a panel discussion at the recent Americana Music Fest in September on The Legacy and Future of Sam Phillips Recording Service featuring panelists/Chuck Mead, Jerry Phillips, Halley Phillips, and Scott Bomar. Webb is currently the host of The List: The Americana Chart Show on 89.5 WMOT-FM which can be heard on Fridays at 2pm and again on Saturdays at 7am Central time. He also hosts Monday through Thursday afternoons from 1 to 4pm Central. He is one of the first voices ever on Satellite radio.

Gina Schock is primarily known as the hard-hitting drummer of The Go-Go's. It's 2023, the Go-Go's have iconic status. Gina is now a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. However Gina is multifaceted - Drummer, songwriter, singer, actor, photographer, author, and producer. In her many years of being in the business, she has written for artists such as Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Alanis Morrisette, Carnie, and Wendy Wilson of Wilson Phillips, and many others. Gina has also written and produced for many up-and-coming artists, always keeping her eye on young talent. Her newly published book "Made In Hollywood" covers her love of photography with so many behind-the-scenes photographs of her band with stories that only Gina could tell. Gina is hilarious, a real straight shooter, and really down to Earth. She is the real deal. And opens up to Karl Shallowhorn about her life and relationships in this fantastic interview.

Mindful Music | Dr. Laura Erickson-Schroth
Karl Shallowhorn sits down for an inspirational conversation with Dr. Laura Erickson-Schroth, who leads the Knowledge and Advising Department at JED, a non-profit organization equipped with clinicians and public health experts who provide guidance on how individuals, families, schools, communities, media, and other youth-serving organizations can take actions to protect the mental health of teens and young adults. The organization works at reducing the risks of suicide, including ensuring that all young people are being served in data-informed and culturally responsive ways.Much of Dr. Erickson-Schroth’s career has focused on LGBTQ mental health, and she currently sees clients at Hetrick-Martin Institute for LGBTQIA+ Youth. Dr. Erickson-Schroth is the editor of “Trans Bodies, Trans Selves,” a resource guide written by and for trans communities.

He also hosted What Would You Do? as well as the first live special on Nickelodeon launching the Nickelodeon Studios in Orlando, Florida.Marc has hosted two talk shows on Lifetime, History IQ on The History Channel, as well as Unwrapped, one of the longest-running shows on Food Network. He was the original host of Next Food Network Star, and he has also covered many news stories while appearing as a regular on ABC's Home Show. Marc was the Executive Director of both Dinner Impossible and Restaurant Impossible, as well as a shark special on Discovery.Marc is continuing his one-man show, The Life and Slimes of Marc Summers, at the Alleyway Theater through September 30th.

On this special episode of Mindful Music host Karl Shallowhorn is joined by Russian-American singer-songwriter Regina Spektor. Her career began in 2001 in the east village neighborhood of New York City. Regina has amassed a catalog of 8 albums, including “Home, Before and After" which was released in June of last year. NPR's Bob Boilen called her single from the album his favorite song from 2022.Regina has received several awards, including the Studio 8 Female Voice of the Year in 2009 and again from the New York Music Awards in 2011 for her “Live in London” album. She has received 5 BMI Streaming Awards including in 2015 for her Grammy-nominated song, “You’ve Got Time” and in 2020 for, “One Little Soldier” from the Guild of Music Supervisors Awards for Best Song Written and Recorded for Film which was featured in the movie Bombshell.Regina is also well known for her philanthropic efforts and has devoted a considerable amount of time to charity concerts including for Planned Parenthood, Doctors Without Borders, and HIAS-the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, an organization that helped Regina and her family emigrate from the Soviet Union.

Mindful Music | Bob Rich III
This week's Mindful Music Guest is Bob Rich III. Bob is a member of the Rich family, who is known for Rich Products and also, for whom, Highmark Stadium, home of the Buffalo Bills, was originally named after. Bob first came to acclaim in the 1984 film, The Natural, where he starred in the role of Ted Hobbs, son of Robert Redford’s character, Roy Hobbs. A graduate of Park School, Bob graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1989. He started his professional career at WNY United where he served as the organization’s Youth Development Coordinator. He then joined Rich Products in 1991 and received his MBA from the Richard J. Wehle School of Business in 1995. Bob founded ROAR Logistics in 2003, where he remains as President.
