Miss Tweetie's Parents

Hi! I've been a music educator and composer for over 35 years and I have combined my vocations with my passion to talk about the quest to do better. I invite people in my community to chat. This podcast has EVOLVED into a platform for people to tell their stories. How did they get to where they are now? A parent or NOT, everybody has quite the origin-story to tell. Sure I  invite my guests to speak freely and openly about their challenges around parenting, and encourage empathy and understanding amongst all of us. . . In thanks for their vulnerability, I compose a song for each guest, presenting it at the end of the podcast. All songs are renamed, used as the episode title and released on all of the streaming sites, too. Want to be a part of it? Reach out for a chat! margaretdahlberg.com

    Perseverance with Beatrice

This was a real treat, how often do we get to talk to someone who was a 'tween during World War II? Beatrice had a prolific career, a happy marriage and is a mother of four. Such a fascinating listen - she is a woman who had cutting edge aspirations for her generation and continues to have many aspirations at her stage in life, including piano lessons with my mother!Send us Fan Mail

    Unconventional Creativity with Loreley

Argentinian born Loreley lived a full life before becoming a dedicated Mom of one. She cultivated her own unique circumstance to raise her son in a way that she could stick to her convictions while at the same time, being open to learning and growing. Sounds like a winning combination to me! Two notes from the episode: for video game addiction information: https://camerondare.com/; For the book about Glucose levels: https://www.glucosegoddess.com/?srsltid=AfmBOooVc_WBhzWn84fF-zIII0ISqMBP1iRBe2MVrkmgJFdRV7EvbDYOSend us Fan Mail

    Structured Fluidity with Lauren

Lauren, a professional singer and teacher, wears a coat of many colours. This mother of two paints, skates, plays drum kit, hikes, climbs. . . AND. . .  she intuitively painted the album cover to the song I wrote for her while listening to it. The water sound in the song is from Lake O'Hara which helped inspired her graphic. SO beautiful! I've added it to the episode graphic as well.Send us Fan Mail

    Serendipitous Stories with Richard

Richard is a father of one and a grandfather of 3. He is a gentleman of great humour and delivers many of his stories and responses with a twinkle in his eye. This man is a storyteller and talks about many things from grand-parenting to farming in Yorkshire. So many wonderful gems from him! I am also fascinated listening to the older generation's 'origin stories' as they were around for the shift in gender roles and women's rise in independence. Richard's story is unique and compelling.Send us Fan Mail

    Establishing Harmony with Linda

To me, Linda is in that cutting edge of the generation of women in the 70's that exercised their rights to be treated as equals. So fascinating to listen to her journey - the things we all take for granted now, she had to stand strong against the current - keeping her maiden name, living with her boyfriend instead of marrying him. . . it was really a wonderful pleasure to talk to her. If you want to hear more about Linda, she has another great conversation with her daughter, Morgan, (guest on Miss Tweetie's parents: Welcome Intensity from October 28) here: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-working-mother-experience/id1562566181?i=1000559190418Send us Fan Mail

    The Artist's Way with Matt

Matt is a fellow songwriter/composer who has raised two great kids. He may be the first interview I've done where I've never met the kids, I just know the parent. There is no doubt in my mind that his kids are awesome. We have a wonderful conversation AND, he brings his guitar and plays us a tune! Driven with Melba (return guest)

I had a mission inviting Melba back to the podcast. I wanted to shift the listener's perspective that she can be intimidating. She does have a straight-forward confidence, but if you listen to her words instead of focusing on her intensity, you will hear that her life is not always easy. If you follow her on Instagram, you'll see the many dimensions of her endeavours. This influencer's original interview, "Resilience", was my inaugural episode. Now we get down to it about life's trials and tribulations and her approach to managing them. Onward with Janice (Miss Tweetie's Mom)

My Mom raised 4 children and built a successful career as a piano teacher and member of the piano teaching community, sitting on many local and provincial boards in many roles, including president. She was born just outside New York City a few years before WWII. Boy, has she seen a LOT of changes. It was really neat hearing her perspective on our modern world, as well as the a challenges and struggles of parents of any generation. It was fun to get to sit down and chat with her.Send us Fan Mail

    Foundations with Rita

Rita is a great Mom who brings a solid foundation to her family, while she learns how to find her own endeavours as her children grow more and more independent. We talk a lot about balancing everything that comes with raising tweens & teens.  Plus, we talk about finding your support mechanisms when you don't have local family to help out. It was a great conversation despite the fact that it took 2 takes and was further delayed by one week, AND I had a microphone failure that affects the sound quality. . .  but despite all of MY fails, Rita's words are well worth waiting for! Send us Fan Mail

    Metamorphosis with Ben

Ben & I talk about navigating divorce as well as supporting our children when there needs seem to be on opposite ends of the spectrum. Many changes in our lives happen gradually but sometimes big things come along that create bigger shifts. Hence, the title Metamorphosis - on one hand, metamorphosis is a natural evolution but it also tends to be an extreme change. Ben has been through a few but his son has also experienced his own metamorphosis which turned him into a fully immersed motorcycle racer. And So We Dance with Tasha

Tasha is a well-known child psychologist in my sphere. It was such a pleasure to have her take off her professional hat and get to it about parenting. What a treat! This empty-nester likes to get right into it and so we did. We discussed that when struggling, particularly with grief, sometimes all we can do is lie in it. . . And, sometimes all we can do is. . . dance! If you are looking for family support, Tasha is a great resource. Find her at tashabelix.comSend us Fan Mail

    Morning Musings with Rich

Aside from his vocation as a graphic artist, sculptor and set builder, Rich is passionate about parenting, family, mountaineering and soccer. He is an extreme early riser, and enjoys ambient music so Morning Musings was a 'no brainer'.  Rich and I did not talk about his offerings, which are around branding art and design. Friendship with Jason

Today I talk to Jason, an old high school friend whose kids are in their early 20's. He touches upon so many important factors of child rearing - finding gratitude, seeking support, self-forgiveness. He brings a laid back attitude and a sense of humour, yet the undertone is that he took raising his 2 sons seriously, and still does. I found him warm & earnest, so I named his song "Friendship" because I felt as though the word 'friendship' embodies those characteristics. You can find his song on all of the streaming sites. Getting There with Bonnie

Bonnie, mother of a 9 year old girl, is beyond 'getting there' - she is 'there', as far as I'm concerned. We talked about how to let go of needing our children to look or act a certain way and how to meet them on their level. She is open about her struggles as she tries to get her daughter to function in our structured society without smothering her free spiritedness. So her song, 'GettingThere' doesn't mean that Bonnie is GETTING there - it's about learning to enjoy the process and accept that where you think you are going is not where you may actually get to. Bonnie's beautiful children's organic sustainable-play company is https://helloearthkits.ca/ and look for her visually calming Instagram presence @earthkits. I always breathe a big relaxing sigh when I come across her posts. "Getting There", Bonnie's song, can be found on all of the streaming sites (by Margaret Dahlberg). Want to be on the podcast?
