Mind Mangling: How Ads Break Minds - MJ on Air Live
British illustrator Steve Cutts creates various visual techniques to criticize the aggression and persistence of companies and advertisements in today's world. This illustration, titled “Happy Halloween”, created on October 31, 2015, by Steve Cutts, creatively portrays the issue through a variety of authorial techniques. This image features a blue-turquoise background, with a large brain in the center on top of a white, box-shaped stand. Around the sides of the brain, you can see many forklifts and manlifts, with a man on top of each manlift holding saws and chainsaws, carving out advertisement logos all over the brain. There are also people climbing a ladder onto the sides of the brain, using saws and chainsaws to carve out advertisements onto the brain. Around the base of the stand in which the brain rests, there are more people holding saws and chainsaws, carving out more advertisements on the brain. On the ground around the stand, you can see many of the carved out pieces of the brain scattered all over the place. On top of the brain, you can see many people with chainsaws standing above, carving out more advertisement logos onto the brain. All of these people are well-dressed in grey suits, white shirts, and black ties, much like those working in corporations and wealthy companies would dress.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/mj-on-air-live--6818776/support.
