In this episode of Money Mastery with Marshy, Daniel sits down with returning guest Sam Flanegan to unpack what’s changed since his last appearance — and a lot has.Since stepping away from FIFO work and taking a significant pay cut, Sam has navigated the shift to becoming the sole income provider while supporting his partner through a $240K+ medical degree. Sam shares how surrounding himself with the right team, staying adaptable, and sticking to a long-term plan has allowed him to keep progressing, even during challenging seasons. They also explore the mindset behind managing nearly $2M in debt, the importance of playing within your circle of competence, and how to balance future-focused investing with actually enjoying life along the way.If you’re a millennial couple, investor, or business owner looking to build wealth without the fluff — this episode is a grounded, real-world look at what it actually takes.

If your income has dipped lately, it’s probably not because you’re lazy — it’s because you’re distracted. In this episode of Money Mastery with Marshy, Daniel breaks down the hidden tension between shiny objects and cash flow — and why even high performers can lose momentum when they drift away from their core revenue-generating activities. After taking a short break from the podcast, Daniel shares the real reason behind it — and the powerful Core–Improve–Innovate Model that helped him realign his focus and strengthen his business foundation.Inside, you’ll learn:Why working harder doesn’t always mean earning moreHow improvement can quietly become procrastinationWhen innovation starts hurting your incomeThe 70/20/10 framework for sustainable growthA simple time audit to reset your prioritiesIf you’re ambitious, building something meaningful, and want consistent income without burning out on distractions — this episode will help you refocus on what actually moves the needle.Because sometimes success isn’t about doing more. It’s about protecting your core.

#118 - A few thoughts to kick off 2026...
In this solo episode of Money Mastery with Marshy, Daniel kicks off 2026 with an honest reflection on podcast standards, long-term personal growth, and the simple intentions that actually move the needle — in business, relationships, and life. After a short hiatus, Daniel explains what prompted the delay, how a piece of constructive listener feedback led to a major improvement in audio quality, and why holding yourself to high standards sometimes requires uncomfortable honesty. The episode then dives into Daniel’s five-year annual reflection ritual — a handwritten letter to himself each year — and the powerful realisation that came from rereading the very first one written in 2020. This reflection led to a counter-intuitive decision for 2026: setting no formal business goals, and instead focusing on clarity, refinement, and closing personal gaps. Finally, Daniel shares one simple personal intention for the year ahead — bringing back monthly date nights with his wife — and how small, intentional actions (and even a dedicated bank account) can create deeper connection, reset energy, and strengthen relationships after kids.

#113 - Alexis Bauve | Too Busy to Invest? How a Buyer’s Agent Can Buy Back Your Time
In this episode #113 of Money Mastery with Marshy, Daniel sits down with Alexis Bauve, founder of boutique buyer’s agency Craft Property in Adelaide. After 15 years in commercial property and a corporate career managing major shopping centres, Alexis was made redundant just two months after the birth of his fourth child.Instead of retreating to “safety”, he burned the boats and backed himself – launching his own buyer’s agency with zero clients, no sales background, and a young family to provide for.Alexis shares how growing up in an “asset-rich, cash-poor” French family shaped his mission to rebuild generational wealth the right way – through smarter money habits, better property decisions, and breaking old patterns around spending and inheritance. You’ll hear the real numbers behind recent client deals (including a 12–18 month uplift from $574k to ~700k), why commercial property can be a game-changer for cash flow, and the advantages of working with a boutique buyer’s agent over a big-name firm.If you’re a busy professional or business owner who wants to build wealth without losing your sanity, this one will hit home.

#112 - How Credit Cards Change Your Spending Psychology
In this short, sharp episode of Money Mastery with Marshy, Daniel dives into the hidden psychology of credit card use—especially for business owners—and why even the most disciplined people can get burned.Credit cards change your behaviour. Even Daniel—naturally disciplined and structured with money—saw his spending creep up after using a business credit card for two years. Despite paying the balance off in full each month, his cash reserves dropped by over $30,000 simply because the card created permission to spend more. This is Parkinson’s Law in action: the more you have access to, the more you naturally use.Even when used “responsibly,” credit cards:Blur the lines between personal + business expensesEncourage emotional or convenience spendingMake it easy to tap → tap → tap with little frictionLeave a painful lump-sum surprise at month’s endDaniel’s client experienced the same pattern—great revenue, poor behavioural boundaries around credit.Instead of ditching the card entirely, Daniel helped his client build strict rules to use it only for true ROI-producing investments:Ad spendBusiness coaching / mentorshipEverything else? Eliminated. The game changer:➡️ Allocate the money to the card before spending itInstead of tapping all month then scrambling to pay it off, you intentionally top it up at the start of the month. This makes credit usage:Purpose-drivenPre-fundedEmotion-freeROI-focusedAnd it keeps cashflow healthy while still leveraging the strategic benefits of a card.Use the credit card as a tool, not a safety net.Fund it first → spend intentionally → track ROI → avoid the end-of-month panic cycle. This psychological shift alone can transform how business owners use credit.Daniel would love to hear how credit cards have influenced your money behaviour—good or bad.Email: [email protected]: @danielgmarshall

#111 - The Six Financial Fitness Archetypes | Which one are you?
In this episode of Money Mastery with Marshy, Daniel reveals a brand-new layer of his Financial Fitness Framework – the Six Financial Fitness Archetypes, inspired by the training styles you see in the gym.Just like physical health, your financial health is shaped by how you earn (training), spend (nutrition), build assets (muscle), and manage liabilities (fat). And these six archetypes make it easier to understand your own money patterns – and what needs to shift.Daniel breaks down each archetype both physically and financially:The Couch Potato — stuck in comfort, low awareness, coasting financiallyThe Marathon Runner — disciplined, steady, consistent, but risk-averseThe Bodybuilder — structured, goal-driven, disciplined… but sometimes image-focusedThe Powerlifter — big assets, big ambition, big leverageThe CrossFitter — functional across the board, diversified, energetic, but at risk of overtrainingThe Yogi — aligned, intentional, peaceful… but lacking structure for long-term wealthYou'll discover where you sit right now, where you want to be, and how to train your financial fitness more intentionally. Daniel also shares details about the Financial Fitness Assessment Session, a 90-minute deep dive into your income, expenses, assets, and liabilities — so you know your current financial health and what to focus on next.🎧 Tune in to find your archetype – and learn how to build the financial physique you truly want.

#105 - How I’ve Tested (and Broken) Every Pricing Model in Coaching
Six years of pricing experiments—from $120/hr sessions to $10k annual programs, $1k/month retainers, low-ticket products, memberships, weekly pricing, and finally a streamlined two-step offer. If you sell services and wonder “what should I charge?” Then this episode will give you valuable insights.WHAT YOU’LL LEARNPrice vs value: people buy transformation, not sessions (aim for ~10x perceived value). Why an offer ladder matters (low-risk entry → natural ascension). The truth about MRR for 1:1 coaches (powerful but fragile). How community and proximity can justify premium pricing.Structuring for commitment: upfront buy-in without monthly friction.Iterate the structure, keep levelling up the core value.DANIEL’S PRICING JOURNEY (HIGHLIGHTS)2019: $120 per session → first 3-month outcome-based program at $2,000.One-off Strategy Session at $500 to lower the barrier and qualify fit.12-Month Program at $10,000: deep results require deep commitment.Retainers at $1,000/month: good cashflow, tough retention without community.Hybrid: $5,000 upfront + $500/month: stronger commitment, lighter cashflow strain.Low-ticket hit: “Fix Your Finance Challenge” ($21 → $47) that scaled trust and fed high-ticket.Membership ($95 USD/month on Skool): engagement + platform habits were the bottleneck.2025 pivot: weekly $100 → $165 “Net Worth Accelerators,” then smart one-time 12-month upgrade.WHERE IT LANDED (TODAY)Step 1: Financial Fitness Assessment — $195 one-off (high clarity, low risk).Step 2: Get Financially Fit — 12-Month Program — $5,070 one-time. #104 - The Psychology of Tracking: How Habits Stick (and Fail)
“You can tell how good someone is at anything by the quality and quantity of the data they track.” – Alex HormoziIn this episode, Daniel Marshall dives into why tracking is the foundation of growth across finances, business, health, and any area of your life that’s important to you. He opens up about his own routines - weekly business metrics, gym progress, and even his 2,268-day cold shower streak. And explains how measuring multiple data points creates more ways to win.Key Takeaways:Don’t rely on one metric: Too many people judge their finances only by income or savings. Tracking multiple data points gives a clearer, more encouraging picture. What you track improves: Whether it’s sales, fitness, or personal growth, consistent tracking leads to consistent progress.Habits and psychology: Tracking habits as a percentage of the year (instead of just streaks) makes building positive change more sustainable and less discouraging after slip-ups.Your focus reveals your values: The areas you track are the areas you care about - and the areas you’ll get better at.Your Challenge:1) Write down the things you’re currently tracking (you’re likely already doing well in these).2) Identify one area you want to improve - then decide on a habit, input, or metric you can start tracking today.Work with Marshy:

#85 - Lewis Denver’s card declined for $5… now he runs a million dollar bike shop!
Lewis Denver was given this ultimatum by his former employer:“If you're going to do anything, do it 100% — either be 100% working here at this bike shop, or 100% doing your own thing.”In that moment, Lewis had to choose:Stay employed and give up his side hustle (selling second-hand bikes)Or back himself fully and leave his secure job to pursue building Recycle Bicycle Sales on his ownThis direct response from his boss caught him off guard. He was sweating. His heart was racing. But deep down, he knew:"I'm going to back myself every time."They shook hands. And from that conversation, Lewis walked out into the unknown. Backing himself and his business 100%. But the entrepreneurial journey is not for the faint of heart.During the early days of his journey, Lewis found himself at one of his lowest points…Staring at a declined payment screen in a local coffee shop.He had ordered his usual flat white, nothing fancy. But when he tapped to pay, it didn’t go through.Confused, Lewis quickly checked his phone, thinking he could transfer some money across accounts. But as he flicked through his banking apps, reality hit: Every account was at zero. All he had access to was $5.Not even enough to cover the $5.50 coffee…Stunned and embarrassed, he quietly left the café, walking his dog back home. On the way, he stopped at the supermarket and carefully bought some basic groceries. Bread and ham. Enough to make simple sandwiches and get by for a few days.At that moment, with nothing in his bank but with his mortgage to pay, a dog to feed, and bills looming, Lewis realised he had no safety net. There was no Plan B.And yet, deep down - he never considered quitting. Not once did he think about going back to a regular job.Instead, he made an unshakable commitment: “I'm backing myself – no matter what.”From there, Lewis hustled harder, served customers better, and kept building what would eventually become Recycle Bicycle Sales, Adelaide’s only dedicated pre-owned bicycle shop with a community of loyal customers. The $5 moment didn't break him. It built him.---Follow Lewis & Recycle Bicycle Sales: Instagram: lewis_denver Instagram: Recycle Bicycle SalesYouTube: Recycle Bicycle Sales---Follow Marshy:Instagram: danielgmarshallFacebook: Daniel MarshallLinkedIn: Daniel MarshallWebsite: danielmarshall.com.au---Other episodes you may enjoy 👇1) #63 - Dr. John Demartini | How to make one Hell of a Profit and still get to Heaven! 2) #37 - Shako T. #83 - Answer these 13 Questions to Discover your Highest Values
Ever feel like you're chasing goals that should make you happy… but somehow don’t? In Episode #83 of Money Mastery with Marshy, I unpacked one of the most important topics in personal development and life success: your values.Too often, we end up living our lives through the values of others – our parents', peers’, or what social media tells us we “should” care about. But this is a recipe for frustration and dissatisfaction…The path to living a successful and fulfilling life starts with getting clear on what YOU truly value – and then unapologetically living your life that way. In this episode, I share a practical 13-question exercise I learned from Dr. John Demartini’s book ‘The Values Factor’ to help you discover your highest values. #75 - Terry Condon | 5 Money Skills to Master to Build Financial Self-Reliance
In this episode of Money Mastery with Marshy, I sat down with Terry Condon, the founder of the Cash Flow Co. A personal finance education and coaching company on a mission to equip 5 million Aussies with the skills and smarts to achieve financial self-reliance by 2030. In this conversation, we explored what true financial security really means. It’s not about chasing shortcuts or quick fixes… It’s about developing the right habits, understanding how money works, and making choices that align with your goals. We questioned the popular FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) movement, debating whether it truly leads to happiness or if there’s more to financial freedom than just early retirement.Terry shared his personal journey—how he once saw money as something external, something to chase. But as he gained experience, he realized that real financial independence comes from within. It’s about developing skills like income mapping, future planning, and cash flow forecasting—tools that help people build wealth while also reducing financial stress. We also touched on a topic many couples struggle with—money in relationships. Terry explained how setting shared financial goals and communicating openly about money can strengthen partnerships instead of creating tension. By proactively managing finances and separating income from expenses, people can feel more in control, less anxious, and more free to live the life they truly want.By the end of our conversation, one thing was clear: financial freedom isn’t about having more money—it’s about having more choices. And with the right skills, awareness, and planning, anyone can build a life where money serves them, not the other way around. This episode is a must-listen for anyone ready to take charge of their financial future and unlock a life full of choice.Follow Terry on LinkedIn Follow the ‘Money Minded’ PodcastDiscover your Financial Skill Score in under 4 minutes---For more tips to help you build the skillsets and character attributes to master your money, you can join my free newsletter by clicking here.---Top 5 Episodes of the Podcast:1) #21 - Trevor Blake | Three Simple Steps to Success2) #14 - Finance & Trading Mentor SJ Chiovitti shares her 10-Year journey to Financial Independence3) #15 - How Olivia Ward went from Year 10 dropout to Australia’s #1 Property Coach4) #1 - “It takes 10 Years to Master your Money, but Poverty & Middle-class takes FOREVER!”5) #28 - Goose McGrath | The Journey from Alcohol & Drug Addiction to 8-Figure Business Owner
