Nathan's Tape: Hearts of Space, Starflight 1
You are listening to Optimysteries, a hauntology documentary series. Each episode is a case file of sounds and artifacts connected to an art piece that I present as a remixed music composition and pastiche to the artist who made the original piece. In this episode, I explore a tape submission from Nathan, a friend of the podcast who is an independent music producer based in Los Angeles.I asked Nathan to send me whatever music artifact he wanted me to do an intuitive psychic reading, otherwise known as a seance, to gather information about the artifact.Nathan's choice was the cassette "Starflight 1" from Hearts of Space Records. I listened to the album, did a rabbit hole dive into the digital world, listened to Lynda Terry's guided meditations, explored Nathan's discography, experienced fated meetings in the real world, talked to people about Hearts of Space, and made unconscious art.I hope you enjoy, and learn more about Hearts of Space as well as the artists who are connected to it.- Audrey
