I'm your host, Caitlin Saenz. What happens when your deepest ambitions collide with your core values? When the path to achieving your goals requires compromises you're not willing to make? These are the questions at the heart of today's conversation.Jenny Jacobs is no stranger to breaking barriers. As a U.S. Naval Aviator who made history as the first woman to return to flying after a cancer diagnosis, she's built a career on courage and determination. Her journey illustrates how sometimes saying "no" to one door opens pathways to greater purpose and impact. For anyone who's ever felt trapped between their aspirations and their principles, Jenny's experience offers valuable perspective. The Silent Strength: When Does Holding Back Take More Courage Than Speaking Up?

Today I want to explore a counter-intuitive idea about courage and moxie. We often celebrate speaking up, taking action, and making bold moves. But what about the courage it takes to hold back? To create space? To resist the pressure to share everything immediately?Something you might not know about me – I'm a certified etiquette coach. But before you picture someone obsessing over which fork to use, let me share what that really means. Etiquette is simply a framework for creating comfortable spaces for everyone where genuine connections can flourish. These days, due to social media, oversharing has become the norm, but there's tremendous value in rediscovering the moxie of restraint. There's wisdom in knowing when to speak and when to listen, when to share, and when to observe.Whether you're navigating professional relationships, building community connections, or simply trying to have more meaningful conversations, this episode will challenge you to rethink what courage looks like in our interactions. So, get ready to explore the quieter side of courage. This is Moxie Moments, and we're about to discover how sometimes the bravest thing we can do is create space for trust to grow.Let's dive in.Start your quote today at https://www.coverhound.com/moxiemoments

Space - The Fourth Element of the Moxie Method

Today, we're exploring the fourth element of the Moxie Method: Space. In our hyper-connected, always-on society, we're conditioned to respond immediately, solve problems instantly, and push constantly forward. Yet some of our greatest growth happens when we create space – time to process, distance to gain perspective, and patience to allow natural resolution. As my grandmother used to say to me, "This too shall pass." Sometimes the moxie to sit back and let things unfold is all the moxie you need. Whether you're working through a professional challenge, navigating a personal difficulty, or simply trying to make an important decision, creating space can be the key to finding your way forward. In this episode, we'll explore what meaningful space looks like, how to create it in your busy life, and how this essential element of the Moxie Method can help you transform challenges into growth opportunities. So let's dive into the power of space and discover how room to breathe can become your ally in facing life's obstacles.Start your quote today at https://www.coverhound.com/moxiemoments

Community - The Third Element of the Moxie Method

Today, we're exploring the third element of the Moxie Method: Community. We often hear the phrase "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" - celebrating those who overcome challenges alone through sheer willpower. But here's the truth: we do not need to be brave alone. These days, it often feels like although we’re more connected than ever, we actually have far fewer real interactions with others. If we make the effort, community can provide the support, perspective, and resources we need to face life's challenges with greater resilience. Whether you're navigating a career transition, dealing with a personal setback, or simply trying to go about your day with a positive frame of mind, having the support of your community can make all the difference. In this episode, we'll explore what meaningful community looks like, how to build connections that support your growth, and how this essential element of the Moxie Method can help you transform challenges into shared triumphs. So let's dive into the power of community and discover how together, we can face life's obstacles with greater strength and wisdom.Start your quote today at https://www.coverhound.com/moxiemoments

Reflection - The Second Element of the Moxie Method

Today, we're exploring the second element of the Moxie Method: Reflection. These days, we rarely give ourselves permission to pause and process our experiences. We move from one task to another, one challenge to the next, without taking time to consider what we've learned or how we've grown.Reflection is a powerful tool for transformation. It helps us process our emotions, gain clarity about our situations, and discover solutions we might otherwise miss. Whether you're facing a career setback, a personal challenge, or simply trying to grow as a human being, reflection can help you turn your experiences into wisdom. We all know this. But hand on heart, can you honestly say you regularly make time for it? I know I can’t!In this episode, we'll explore what meaningful reflection looks like, how to incorporate it into your busy life, and how this essential element of the Moxie Method can help you navigate life's challenges with greater insight and purpose. So let's dive into the power of pause and discover how reflection can become your secret weapon in facing life's obstacles.Start your quote today at https://www.coverhound.com/moxiemoments

Bravery - The First Element of the Moxie Method

Today we're diving deep into the first element of the Moxie Method: Bravery. We often think of bravery as grand, heroic acts – running into burning buildings or standing up to powerful adversaries. While these certainly qualify, bravery also exists in our everyday choices and challenges.Bravery might mean having a difficult conversation with a team member. It might mean admitting a mistake to your board of directors. It might even mean simply showing up day after day when circumstances feel overwhelming. In this episode, we'll explore what true bravery looks like, how to cultivate it in your daily life, and how this essential element of the Moxie Method can transform your approach to challenges. So let's dive into the world of everyday courage and discover how bravery can become your superpower in facing life's obstacles.

    No Grit, No Pearl

Start your quote today at https://www.coverhound.com/moxiemoments Welcome to Moxie Moments, the podcast that explores life's challenges and the courage it takes to overcome them. I'm your host, Caitlin Saenz. Diamonds are created under immense pressure. It's a truly an all or nothing process. Either the pressure creates a diamond or it doesn't. There is no choice, there is no in-between, that's it. But pearls on the other hand are created when an irritant, like a tiny grain of sand, enters an oyster. And then that oyster has a choice. It can either let that irritant stay there uncomfortably in pain even, or it can slowly, patiently coat it with layer after layer of nekar, which is also known as mother of pearl. And this process eventually creates something so beautiful and valuable, which is the pearl. And life throws both types of challenges at us, right? Again, it doesn't matter what you do, where you're at, you're getting both types of challenges.
