Hide
Hide by Joel Robinson We hide in our homes cuz we made the world crazy The volume outside is out of our control The more we dispute, the more we’re gettin’ lazy With shovel in hand, we dig a deeper hole Take back your accountability That’s all you have to do Strangers are friends you haven’t got know They’re waiting just for you The fear that we feel, the self-induced anxiety The more we’re inside, we can’t survive the cold The choice that we make to judge our own reality To distance ourselves from gifts our senses hold Take back your accountability That’s all you have to do Strangers are friends you haven’t got to know They’re waiting just for you Hide in your headphones and look at the ground Turn up the volume, ignore what’s around Scroll through your play list, repeat the same song Why do you hide from your life, if it’s wrong? A smile and a wave is better than your frowning face A walk down your street can mend your heart and soul The more we connect, the more it’s not so crazy With hands shaking hands, feels good to share a goal Take back your accountability That’s all you have to do Strangers are friends you haven’t got to know They’re waiting just for you They’re waiting just for you They’re waiting just for you

Another Washboard Road
Another Washboard Road by Joel Robinson and Shane Brown D When the dust coats the dashboard G And the undercarriage rattles D We peer out the windows G See fruits on saguaros D I make a peace sign G Passing border patrol D A fence runs the roadside G To divide what they stole D I look to Shane G And say the words, D But they come out all vibrato G “Looks like we’re on another D washboard road When the zebra tail darts across the sand And Harris’s antelope squirrel At each wash the sand is soft Our rear end fishtails Cicadas sing from mesquite beans Their wings flutter in tempo We’re heading out to find a spring And fill our jugs with water, But when I try to sing this song The words come out vibrato Looks like we’re on another washboard road

High Rent
High Rent by Joel Robinson G C G Nine years of bliss in Silverado G C G With a view of the cliffs and the creek G C G Dirt trails for me to wander barefoot No poison sprayed on my foraged foods Plenty of space to shit out there in the woods Until the rent was raised Until the rent was raised! Six months of this suburban limbo With a view of the wall and the street No dirt for me to wander barefoot More noise than humans can tolerate Plenty of ways to kill every vertebrate Because the rent was raised Because the rent was raised! The higher the rent, the further we fall With no place to land and no one to call To live in a tent, to live at the mall We don’t own the land, the land owns us all One minute left to get the facts straight With a view of the past and my feet Where can I go to wander barefoot? No access left for our basic needs Plenty of space is now under lock and key Too bad the rent was raised Was left confused and dazed! The landlord wasn’t fazed! Too bad the rent was raised…

Can't Complain
Music & Lyrics by Joel Robinson Chords by Brandon Kamuela Dannals https://soundcloud.com/brandonkamuela Cuban Flavor Capo 4th fret Em B7 Voting with consumer dollars Tie a noose around my collar How can we complain when we're still paying for the pain We don't need no college scholar To see our pockets getting smaller How can we complain when we invest in the insane Our ancestors knew what to do All resources are here with you Take your shoes off and go outside Eat the weeds, don't herbicide We've been tricked by sales talk What we need is not what they got...not what they got Voting with consumer dollars Will we choose what makes us taller No time to complain when we remove the ball and chain We don't need to shoot or holler We no longer live in squalor No time to complain when we invest in social gain Our ancestors knew what to do All resources are here with you Turn the fridge off and cook outside Compost poo, don't waterslide Get more acorns and leach them a lot What we need is not what they taught...not what they taught Voting with consumer dollars Lose the noose around my collar Now we don't complain because we left the corporate train We don't need to heave the mauler To tend the soil for more nightcrawlers We will not complain when we rewild ourselves with rain Voting with consumer dollars Voting with consumer dollars Voting with consumer dollars Voting with consumer dollars
