This song was written on October 14, 2013, but the Insurrection at the Capitol on January 6, 2021 inspired it's production and release. This is heavily influenced by Frank Ocean, with some additional influence by Mint Condition.

I had intended on releasing this FIRST REMIX on November 27, the day of PEYSONIC MUSIC'S THIRD ANNIVERSARY, but I let the procrastination demon get the best of me!! It's been said that 8 is the number of new beginnings; and that August, being the 8th month, represents the month of new beginning. It certainly has been a new beginning for me, as a MAJOR door in my life closed, marking the official end to a 7-year relationship with my significant other. Ironically, her birthday is September 23, which has been rumored to be the start of the apocalypse in 2015! Anyhoo, in "Bring Me Back", I recount near-death experiences I had as a child; as well as the near-death of a close friend that occurred back in 2012. This song follows "White Flag", which represents a kind of spiritual and moral death; while "Bring Me Back" makes the plea for resurrection from spiritual, moral, and even physical death; thus addressing the cycle of life.

I was very conflicted about releasing this song because of recent events, both in my personal life and in America. "White Flag" deals with capitulation to oppression due to the frustration of the struggle. It contains a sample of "When the Man Comes Around" by Johnny Cash. It was certainly a "man" coming coming around that motivated me to examine the deeper meaning of this song and further inspired me to appreciate the significance of it. I chose a Phoenix as the accompanying graphic because, though the White Flag represents a kind of death through surrender, it represents the promise of resurrection and redemption. *Special thanks to Nakhiti Mukwana, Oba Harris, Positive Pat Thomas, & Jasmine Lomax for helping me decide whether to release "White Flag". I was very conflicted about releasing this song because of recent events, both in my personal life and in America. "White Flag" deals with capitulation to oppression due to the frustration of the struggle. It contains a sample of "When the Man Comes Around" by Johnny Cash. It was certainly a "man" coming coming around that motivated me to examine the deeper meaning of this song and further inspired me to appreciate the significance of it.
