Brooklyn comedians Hanna Gerlander and Nora Fried spotlight a New Yorker of the Week and alternate between interviews and biweekly Just Us chats. Come for NYC stories, comedy, pop culture, and chaos. New Yorker of the Week: The Final Episode (For Now)
It’s our last New Yorker of the Week episode. For now. We know. We’re emotional too. After many long voice memos, Google Docs, budget spreadsheets in a notes app, and one dramatic “are we insane?” conversation, we’ve decided to put the podcast on pause. Making this show has been one of the most joyful, creatively unhinged, time-consuming, and financially questionable things we’ve ever done. And we wouldn’t trade a second of it.What started as two Brooklyn comedians with microphones and delusions of grandeur turned into something we’re so proud of. Our friendship grew in ways we truly didn’t expect. Wolf...watch out. We are closer than ever and yes, we are still comedy wives. To everyone who listened, DM’d, came to live shows, requested feet pics, came on as an unhinged guest, or told us “hey - you guys have something here," we love you. And to everyone else... we have a list with your name on it. This episode is a love letter to the show, to New York, to you, and to the version of ourselves that said, “Sure, let’s start a podcast” but hey... sometimes the most New York thing you can do is pivot.GIGANTIC SHOUTOUT TO OUR DEAR PRODUCER SEAN! Truly, what a gem of a human. Thank you all for spending your Thursdays with us. We’ll see you around the city. XxxLove us? Hate us? New Yorker of the Week: Just Us - Are You Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner?
Just us this week! Hanna is deep in post-vacation blues, Nora is recording under the soft glow of Ambien because it was a late night, and yes, once again, we somehow end up talking about doctors. At this point we’re not not a medical podcast. The main event: we phone in two very important people Ross and Becca, to finally answer the question plaguing us all: are you breakfast, lunch, or dinner? We break down what meal Hanna is, what meal Nora is, and the pros and cons of it all. And on that note, Head to our poll on Spotify (if you're not here already) and tell us what meal YOU are. We need this data for personal closure.

New Yorker of the Week: Just Us and an Apology to NYC Doctors
This week’s Just Us episode starts with a formal, heartfelt, and legally unnecessary apology to New York City doctors everywhere. After talking a lot of shit in past episodes, we’re lightly walking it back with a very specific ode to Hanna’s former therapist, Robert (we hope you’re well, king). From there, things unfold as they should: Hanna considers joining a choir, Nora reflects emotionally on a chicken she once ate in Germany, and we unpack the truly important cultural questions of our time. Including but not limited to: J.Lo’s bacon, egg, and cheese order, how many times Kim K really took the bar, and whatever else fell out of our brains that day.No guest. No structure. Just accountability, nostalgia, and two wacky NYC ladies. Enjoy! Love us? Hate us? New Yorker of the Week: Just Us and a Broken Camera
It is another Just Us episode and it has honestly been a minute since we were back in the studio (aka the kitchen). In true New Yorker of the Week fashion, the universe greeted our return by immediately crashing the video on our camera, so this week is audio only. But hey another way of looking at it is in true NORA AND HANNA fashion, we will never give up and therefore here we are today with an incredible episode (audio only ).We promise we are trying to be better as women in tech. We are learning. We are growing. We are even asking neighbors in our building for help. New Yorker of the Week: Meet Drake, a True NYC Original
At the Tompkins Square Park Dog Halloween Parade we met an absolute NYC icon named Drake, a woman so unmistakably New York she could have only been born of this city’s chaos and charm. What is more New York than wandering the streets, spotting the most fabulous stranger, and immediately interviewing her? Then it got even better. Our friend was watching the pod and realized the iconic woman we met was the same person he had just sold a vacuum to in his building. Only in this city does your random dog-parade queen also become your friend’s neighbor.Tune in for a true New Yorker highlight with the fabulous Garnitz, a NYC stranger who instantly felt like our best friend in the making.Love us? New Yorker of the Week: Just Us and 100 Reasons Why NYC is Ultimately Better Than Berlin
It’s a Just Us episode which means your funny NYC ladies are back and spiraling. Nora’s fresh off (we hate to say it) her summer Euro trip with some key observations: Germans don’t smile but their government actually cares about them, and she’s returned with a new puffy shirt from Lisbon that she’s proudly debuting in this episode. Catch it on YouTube if you dare.Meanwhile Hanna is planning her Lady Gaga look, we plot to only book guests who could double as potential suitors, and we crown Florence + The Machine the witch of music (meant lovingly). Also maybe Nora should stop hating on Taylor Swift because she’s here for the girls. It’s (hopefully not annoying) travel chat, pop star witchcraft, and unfiltered banter from your New Yorker of the Week hosts in classic Just Us style.Love us? New Yorker(S) of the Week: Everyone Who Showed Up in NYC (and Our Sister City LA) to Protest ICE
We’re pretty sure most of our listeners are New Yorkers—but when we first started this podcast (shoutout to the HHPL era), we had high hopes of breaking into middle America. Specifically, we imagined women with throw pillows that say things like “Don’t talk to me until I’ve had my bottle of wine.” Or... wait, is that not quite it... sorry bad with expressions. You get the vibe though. That demographic.Anyway, assuming we haven’t quite won over the wine-mom crowd yet, this episode won’t be too shocking. But if we have—hey, welcome!—just a heads-up: we’re getting a little political this week. Our New Yorker(S) of the Week are the people protesting ICE around the city right now. And, fair warning, next week’s episode might also dip into politics. But look, the world’s kind of on fire and NYC’s got a lot going on—it would feel weird to ignore it while calling ourselves New Yorker of the Week, right? That said, we’re still us. Still comedians. Still finding a way to be funny, light, slightly unhinged, and fully inappropriate—because that’s what you came for.So with that: please show up for your communities. We love you, NYC. Always. <3Love us? Hate us? New Yorker of the Week: Meet Pidge, NYC’s Most Glamorous Pigeon
What’s more New York than a pigeon? Well… how about a pigeon living in a Soho loft with better lighting than your last apartment? This week’s New Yorker of the Week is Pidge the Pigeon, rescued in Williamsburg by the endlessly cool and sweet Abby Jardine. The two now share a downtown apartment that can only be described as a Pigeon Paradise—think natural light, high ceilings, and a very chic perch situation. You might be wondering: Nora, Hanna, how exactly do you interview a pigeon?Fair question. Let’s just say, like our chat with Lola the Mets dog (see ep 1!), some things defy explanation—you’ll have to listen (and watch) to believe it. And yes, we recommend catching this one on YouTube or Spotify (because that’s a thing now!) to fully appreciate Pidge in her natural urban habitat. From nesting beside Abby’s beside to strutting through NYC in a designer purse, Pidge is honestly living better than all of us. Abby walks us through what it really means to be a pigeon mom in New York, and trust us: it’s as delightful and surprising as it sounds.Truly, it doesn’t get more NYC than this. Enjoy! XxLove us? New Yorker of the Week: Rox JerZ Queen—The Ultimate Queen of Jersey
The other day—I, Nora (yes, it’s me typing this in real time)—introduced Hanna to Jersey Shore for the very first time. A milestone in our relationship, yes. But also? A humbling anthropological moment. Turns out, after some light fieldwork (Instagram DMs and a TikTok rabbit hole), much of Gen Z is disturbingly out of the loop on Jersey Shore. A cultural chasm. A generational schism. Imagine my horror.Fast forward however many years it’s been since 2009 (time is a construct, etc.) and we find ourselves in the presence of the QUEEN of Jersey herself: Rox—JerZ Queen. And let me tell you, she’s not just the epitome of New Yorker of the Week—she is the archetype. Sure, her home address may technically read “New Jersey,” but the moment she guns it through the tunnel? She transcends. She becomes not just a New Yorker—but the very Platonic ideal of New York. She’s what New York dreams of being when it lies awake at night, haunted by its own inadequacy.Tune in as we spill the tea (nay, the entire boiling kettle) on Rox’s legendary 15 minutes with Pitbull (dale) and relive the glory of snapping Blackberry pics with the original Jersey Shore cast at Karma. New Yorker of the Week: Anna Hull, the Coolest Name in NYC Astrology
A few weeks ago, Nora found herself in a “special” place (emotionally, spiritually, astrologically—you get it) and ended up at a New Moon Workshop at Dou Yoga in Brooklyn. That’s where she met the ultimate NYC healer, Anna Hull. Intuitive astrologer. Energy reader. Coolest calm presence you’ve ever been around. We don’t really know how astrology works, but somehow, Anna does—and without making it weird. She’s part mystic, part guide, part woman-you-end-up-crying-to-after-a-sound-bath. A true cosmic New Yorker of the Week. You don’t have to believe in the stars to believe in Anna Hull. New Yorker of the Week: Ram Belle, NYC’s Dazzling Fire Performer, LED Flow Artist, and Go-Go Star
Fire stars. Chains. Dual Axes. Pouring hot wax in your mouth. This week, we’re joined by Ram Belle—aka Christy—a NYC based performance artist whose work spans burlesque, fire manipulation, and LED flow. She’s been setting East Coast stages ablaze (literally) for over a decade, and we sat down to trace the spark all the way back to where it began. We talk about her first time performing with fire (what goes through your head when you’re literally holding flame), how she prepares her body and mind for shows that mix danger with beauty, and what it means to do this kind of work in New York, where your venue might be House of Yes one night and a birthday party in Jersey the next.Ram Belle is pure magic. New Yorker of the Week: Meet Beau Dega and Virgo Rising, NYC's Top Drag King and Queen Performers
Who runs NYC? Some say the rats. Some say the real estate developers. Some say that one woman who sits outside T-mobile smoking a cig. But this week, we bow down to the real monarchs of the moment: King Beau Dega and Queen Virgo Rising, our New Yorker(s) of the Week.On today's episode, we’re talking late-night lashes, early-morning meetings, and the commitment of gluing on a mustache before hitting the stage. We discuss the unspoken labor of drag—of crafting a persona, commanding a room, and somehow still answering emails the next morning. This is an ode to the kings, the queens, and everyone in between who make this city shimmer under stage lights and street lamps alike. It’s giving duality. It’s giving duct tape and rhinestones. It’s giving gender, exploded. Enjoy! XxLove us? Hate us? Keep in touch! Welcome to New Yorker of the Week!
There comes a time in every girl’s life when she realizes—wait a second—I’m becoming a woman. The evidence is everywhere! Take Miley Cyrus: one day, she’s Hannah Montana, the next, she’s lightly problematic, and before you know it, she’s a full-blown cover song sensation. Now, you may be wondering: what does any of this have to do with this podcast? Excellent question. The answer? Everything and nothing. Because much like Miley, we—Hanna and Nora—have gone through a transformation of our own. High Heels and Punchlines? Dead. Gone. A relic of the past. But in its place? A shimmering, once-in-a-lifetime, cover-song-level reinvention:Introducing… New Yorker of the Week.Every week, we’ll be crowning one of our favorite overlooked New Yorkers—the hidden gems of this city—and treating them to their rightful moment in the spotlight. Expect a short but essential interview with our newly minted royalty, plus plenty of classic HHPL-style chatter: all things Nora x Hanna, chaos included. If you’re confused—don’t worry. Just listen, and you’ll get it. And yes, this is an abrupt transition, but please, grant us grace. We’re artists. Chirp: One Minute You’re Browsing, the Next You’re Straight Vagina to Denim
This episode is a revelation. Did you know some people actually keep their underwear on when trying on swimsuits at Old Navy? What is this, caution? Decorum? Also, is Justin Trudeau gay? He was spotted at a gay bar, so obviously, the scientific method points to yes. We will now be accepting this as fact with zero further research. And if you were a hoarder, what would be your prized collection? Wicker baskets? Tiny trolls? Make-up palettes stacked to the ceiling, half of them cracked but still emotionally significant? Actually—scratch that. Those are our niche obsessions, and we will be trademarking them immediately.Point is, this episode of Chirp is a wild ride.
