Nexcast is an engaging podcast from Nexus International School, Singapore.  It is led by our talented secondary learners, guided by the nurturing expertise of Mr. Kevin Bennett, our dedicated music teacher. Our mission is to dive into the world of podcasting, creating episodes that are not only entertaining and informative but also deeply connected to the values and interests of our school and the wider community.     Shogi takes off at Nexus!

    Aditya and Josh host an insightful conversation with David Banfai who has recently started a Shogi CCA at Nexus.If you are interested in trying Shogi please email Mr David at [email protected] from Hungary, David’s professional journey has taken him around the world, from the Netherlands and Germany to Greece, Turkey, and finally Singapore. David is multilingual and has worked for several years in Singapore as an English lecturer, bringing a deep understanding of language acquisition from both academic and personal perspectives. He believes that digital tools and a vibrant classroom atmosphere are essential for enhancing learners’ knowledge both inside and outside the classroom. His journey in learning and teaching languages has kindled a love for learning that he eagerly shares with his students, inspiring them to achieve their dreams.In addition to being an enthusiastic English teacher, David enjoys playing Shogi (Japanese chess) and game development.     Music at Nexus - In Conversation with Clare Lambert

    Nexus learners Jack and Josh host an insightful conversation with head of Music, Clare Lambert. Deeply passionate for music, Clare Lambert has always been involved in a music-related role growing up. Her work experience includes roles as Head of Music, Head of the Arts, Faculty Leader and Co-Chair of FOBISIA Music. In addition, Clare is a violinist, singer and pianist and has also played in international orchestras, chamber groups and string ensembles during her travels. Currently she is the Subject Leader for music at Nexus after a career in teaching music across Asia in Hong Kong and Singapore. She loves making music and brings this passion into her classroom teaching style.     Swim, Bike, Run and Teach! - An interview with Mrs Suzie, Nexus' Teaching Triathlete!

    Join Our host Jack he chats with one of Nexus' many talented teachers Mrs Suzie.  Suzie Bacon, a Primary Teacher here at Nexus, unexpectedly discovered her love for triathlons. Watching them from the sidelines, she was struck by the fun and challenge they seemed to offer. In 2019, she took the plunge and participated in her first triathlon, experiencing the thrill of competition firsthand. Her initial nerves vanished when she hit the water, and a surprising third-place finish solidified her passion for the sport. Since then, Suzie has become a seasoned competitor, tackling events like the Metasprint Series and the Singapore T100. The camaraderie of training with others is a big draw for her, and she enjoys the social connections forged within the triathlon community, especially during overseas races.     Looking into Learner Leadership with Michael Hayes

     Jack and KK host an insightful chat with English Teacher and Learner Leadership Co-ordinator Michael Hayes. Alongside learner leadership they talk about life at Nexus, living in Singapore and the reality following a struggling Premier League team. Following 11 years of teaching in the UK, Malaysia and China, Michael moved to Singapore to join the English team at Nexus. He is passionate and enthusiastic about working with children to realise their potential. As a keen purveyor of holistic education, he has a firm belief that education comes not only within the classroom, but out of it.With his role as the Learner Leadership Coordinator and his experience with pastoral leadership, he sees immense value in developing opportunities for learner agency and learner voice. Michael enjoys being engaged in continuous professional development to broaden his knowledge and experience.     Our Y13 Host KK meets Ms Sarah Cole and together they go through coaching session with an opportunity for you to get involved!Who is Ms Sarah Cole?Sarah brings a wealth of international experience from the UK, Hong Kong, Australia and Singapore to Nexus and the Primary PHE team. She is passionate about holistic education, health and well-being and aspires to create a positive ripple effect in the world. A lifelong learner, Sarah is an International Coach Federation-accredited health and personal development coach, as well as team coach. She empowers people to articulate, reflect and realise their self-determined goals and overcome challenges. She strives to provide opportunities for all learners to enjoy and enhance their physical literacy and health so they can make healthy and informed choices for life. Sarah enjoys being active and going on walks with her husband and friends. Stephanie teaches Physical and Health Education lessons at Nexus, and passionately believes in the value of an inclusive, holistic education. Listening deeply, encouraging them to recognize their true value and in turn, enriching others.During my career over the last 30 years I have worked in the private and public sectors in Australia, UK, Middle East, Africa and Singapore. Prior to this, I was employed by the Abu Dhabi Education Council as Director of Schools and a CEO/Principal in Australia.
