Night Club

In this delightful work of fiction by Herbert Jenkins (1876-1923), we are introduced to one of his most beloved comic characters, the charming Cockney, Joseph Bindle. It is Bindle who hatches the idea of “The Night Club,” a gathering place where individuals from all walks of London life come together on Sunday evenings for a smoke, a drink, and a good yarn. Here, they socialize, reflect on their lives, and share their most entertaining tales and reminiscences. The whimsical proceedings are chaired by Bindle himself and are recounted to us by a member of this unique club. --Lee Smalley
