The New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves pulled off the trade of the offseason just in time for NBA media day and preseason games to start. So as is mandatory within basketball content creation, we MUST declare and winner of the trade! Was there a winner??? Continuing our NBA ranking series, we’ve reached the Shooting Guard position! Like we did with the Point Guards, these rankings are based on talent, performance, and how good I believe their team feels about it going into next season specifically. What NBA team do YOU think feels best about their starting SG?

What NBA team feels best about their starting Point Guard position? That’s the question I wanted to answer. Particularly going into next season. So of course… I ranked the starting point guard from every NBA team and came away feeling like about 2/3 of the league should feel at least pretty good about the guy they’ve got. It might be the deepest position in basketball.

There are several young players responsible for the growth of women’s basketball over the past year or so… some names responsible include: Angel Reese Cameron Brink Paige Bueckers But none have been more impactful than.. Caitlin Clark. Even amongst other star rookies in the WNBA or in Paige’s case women’s college basketball she stands out amongst her peers. But why? Why is she so different? I explored this idea and believe I’m onto something…

Are the Cleveland Cavaliers the Kings of the NBA Eastern Conference? And by that I mean…. The Sacramento Kings Remember 2 years ago when the Kings went 48-34, lighting the beam to the 3rd seed in the Western Conference Playoffs? Then they spent their offseason investing in their core, came back the next season to essentially the same results and yet the conference passed them by? Sounds strangely familiar to the Cavs this past year and offseason doesn’t it??? Are we about to see the Cavaliers experience a similar reality in an East that has seen almost every other team aggressively try to improve their roster this offseason? Or will continuity, a new coaching staff and internal growth be enough?

From the Jays in Boston that just won the title, to KD and Booker in Phoenix, LeBron and AD, Jokic and Murray, and the list goes on…. to 30. Because I ranked every team in the NBA’s top duo 1-30!

Most NBA basketball teams have moved away from the “Big 3” model of roster building and with the 2nd apron and hard caps in the new CBA, it’s likely to become extinct very soon. What better time to try to rank the “Big 3” from every NBA team?? I’m honestly not sure what was harder: ranking them, or trying to find a “Big 3” on most of these teams! Does your team have one???? Basketball fans are flocking to see the WNBA this year! Perhaps you’re here because of this super popular rookie class with Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, and Cam Brink. Maybe you saw Sabrina Ionescu take on Steph Curry in the 3 point contest at this past year’s NBA All Star Weekend. You may have seen some of the commercials with stars of the W like A’ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, or Kelsey Plum. Or maybe you’re just an NBA fan who wants to watch high quality basketball in the Summer time. Whatever your reasoning, I think it’s awesome! But also, WE have a LOT to learn about the WNBA. So I thought I’d share this quick video to give you an idea of how you can learn about the W, while maximizing your fan experience!

WNBA ALL Star weekend was a ton of fun to watch! From Allisha Gray making history by winning the Skills Competition AND the Three Point Contest to Arike Ogunbowale setting a scoring record as the WNBA All Stars beat Team USA, scoring 34 points and they all came in the second half! Caitlin Clark broke the rookie ASG assist record. Angel Reese had the first double double as a rookie. Brittney Griner scored her 100th All Star point which has only been done a hand full of times. And everything was FUN and COMPETITIVE - which I can’t say for the NBA All Star weekend these days…

Who’s ahead for the rookie of the year award in the WNBA should not be a debate at this point. It’s just content - and that’s a good thing for women’s basketball. Caitlin Clark vs Angel Reese discussions are good for keeping the W top of mind and relevant to sports fans. But to this point in the season, it’s Caitlin Clark’s award. She’s having a better statistical season, breaking records left and right, she’s had a bigger impact on winning, elevating one of the worst franchises in the league over the past decade, and she’s doing it while being number 1 on the scouting report for opposing defenses. The Cleveland Cavaliers have a roster full of redundancy. But does it matter? Bringing back the ‘core 4’ of Darius Garland, Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen might be the best move for the Cavs in the short and long term. But they’re not really the redundancy that you should be worried about. It’s the supporting role players, particularly on the perimeter that have overlapping size, skills, and roles that leave significant holes and don’t help mitigate the weaknesses of playing with the core 4. That’s why the Cavs doing nothing thus far in the NBA offseason is not ideal. In an Eastern Conference that is loading up and getting more competitive, the Cavaliers front office seems to be banking on internal development and a coaching change as the path forward. As fans, we have to hope they’re right. But you’re right to be concerned. If you’re a casual sports fan, or perhaps a basketball fan, who is just not turning your attention to baseball for the summer, this is your episode! If you’re a baseball purest who has been locked in since Spring Training, you may already know this… With the MLB All Star weekend upon us, I thought I would run through the starters from both the American and National League as well as the pitching staffs. Use this as a catchup on who the best hitters are in baseball and some fun facts like nicknames too!

Klay Thompson doesn’t play for the Golden State Warriors anymore. It’s still weird to type that sentence. No more Steph and Klay. No more splash brothers. But is he the missing piece for the Dallas Mavericks? Can putting him next to Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving be the move that gets them an NBA championship? There’s no doubt that Luka should be operating in the most space of his career. But will the defensive questions be too much to overcome, leading to the inevitable fate that they’ll succumb to the gauntlet that is the Western Conference?

DeMar DeRozan being acquired by the Sacramento Kings was…. A bit surprising. He’s undoubtedly and talent upgrade on that roster and is still one of the best scorers in the NBA. But his fit seemed…. Odd. But why? Why is the fit weird? Is it the pace the Kings play with? The Bulls played very slow last year, 28th in the NBA in pace. But the Kings were barely in the top half of the league at 14th. Is it the spacing? The Kings light the beam because they have 3 shooters around De-Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis right? Well, those shooters: Malik Monk, Keegan Murray, and Kevin Huerter in particular, were mostly in the mid 30% range from 3. So what is it??? Well. I figured it out. It’s the area of the floor that DeRozan, Fox, and Sabonis all like to play through. And that’s the challenge Mike Brown will have to solve to make this “big 3” ish group of stars work.

A question I never thought I’d ask, “are the Golden State Warriors better without Klay Thompson?” Has an answer I thought was equally outlandish: “Yes.” Let’s not get it confused, peak Klay Thompson was a force of nature. But 34 year old Klay Thompson, struggling to reimagine himself after 2 devastating injuries, that’s not the same guy. Still a deadly 3 point shooter. Absolutely. And the Dallas Mavericks, specifically Luka Doncic, will reap the benefit of that now. But he’s not the same. And with Chris Paul, well, he’s 39. He might be the most impressive 39 year old not named LeBron James, but he’s clearly had a decline as well and is coming off of injury. He’ll elevate Victor Wembanyama to an immediate All Star in San Antonio, but again. Not the same. And what GSW has done on the margins to replace those guys has been surprising. They’ve gotten a solid 2-way guard in De’Anthony Melton, a really good playmaking defender in Kyle Anderson, and one of the best 3 pt shooters ever, not named Klay Thompson or Steph Curry, in Buddy Hield. So most of what you were getting from Klay and CP3 has been replicated, a significant upgrade on defense has been made, and the pieces could fit into the puzzle in a way that brings more schematic consistency throughout the course of the game. Are they contenders for the NBA Championship? No. But they do seem like they’re a better team on paper, which is not something you would have expected to say if you knew the Splash Brothers were history and Chris Paul was walking away for nothing.

In the most predictable news of the offseason LeBron James signed a max contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. All the picks that could be traded, the cap flexibility LeBron offered up by taking a pay cut… the Lakers have done nothing. No Klay Thompson No James Harden (thankfully) No Jonas Valanciunas Not even Demar Derozen So LeBron keeps his money… So what do the Lakers do now???

Donovan Mitchell extends in Cleveland, making it a great time to be a Cavs fan! He chose a 3 year contract with a player option and that might just be the best case scenario for everyone involved. Including you! He maximizes his earning potential, the Cleveland Cavaliers get a commitment and an improvement window, and the fans keep their best player and know the team should be committed to getting better. Win Win WIN! I’ll explore what’s next and how that improvement could come…

He stole 40 bags before July, leading the MLB and is pacing toward a legitimately historic year for baseball stealing. But what is his potential? Can he say…… reach Ricky Henderson levels on the basepaths??? Congrats to Jamal Murray for securing a well deserved BAG! Unfortunately, I think it marks the end of this Nuggets team, as constructed, as NBA title contenders. All signs point to Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (KCP) leaving in free agency, with no real pathway to replace him. That makes two years in a row since winning the Championship that the Denver Nuggets have lost a vital role player, without a replacement, and lost the valuable depth that was one of the things making them so good in the first place. Nikola Jokic is still a cheat code. He’s amazing. But he continues to watch the foundation of his team, that was once built perfectly around his strengths, chipped away one key role player at a time. The Western Conference is only getting better. And the Nuggets are only getting worse…

Lebron and Bronny James made history becoming the first father and son duo to have a chance to play together on an NBA team. Of course, Lebron still needs to agree on a contract and we have to get to the season. But at some point the Los Angeles Lakers will be playing a game and the James duo will be in it. Bronnys selection at 55 in the second round of the NBA Draft is a polarizing one with many people questioning its validity, claiming nepotism, and saying he isn’t good enough to play in the NBA. It’s a difficult position for anyone, especially when your father is considered by many the GOAT, and considered by just about all to have been pulling the strings. After strong MLB attendance over Father’s Day Weekend I wanted to dig into the year as a whole and see how average attendance across the league compared to previous years.

Mikal Bridges has been reunited with Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Donte Divincenzo in a blockbuster NBA trade between the New York Knicks and the cross town rival Brooklyn Nets! These 4 played together in college at Villanova with 3 of them winning 2 NCAA titles in 3 years. Now they get to play together in the NBA as the Eastern Conference has a new title contender built to match up against the defending champion Boston Celtics.

I was wondering if the Cleveland Cavaliers would have a coach by the time the NBA Draft started. They will. And I’m EXCITED! I’ve been a fan of bringing in Kenny Atkinson since JB Bickerstaff was let go by the Cavs. His time in Brooklyn was impressive and the concepts he learned in Golden State with the Warriors could be just what the Cavs have needed to add some movement to their stagnant offense without losing their defensive principles.

After sitting with the Alex Caruso for Josh Giddey trade for a few days, I wanted to see if it still made sense for both the Oklahoma City Thunder and Chicago Bulls. My initial reaction was fairly positive on both sides, but would that still be the case after a few days had passed and the - first trade of the offseason - shine wore off.

Last night was the first game of the NBA finals and unless you’re a Celtics fan… there wasn’t too much to get excited about. So we’re going to dig into the box score and see if we missed something! If you didn’t watch the game, here’s the basic summary: The Celtics won by a lot They were scorching hot in the first quarter The Mavs made a run in the third quarter The Celtics answered The starters were pulled with like 4-5 minutes to go in the 4th Even Brian Windhorst said on his recap pod with Zach Lowe that he zoned out for awhile in the second quarter… and he was there… AND getting paid So let’s see what we zoned out for… Welcome into Who Won?! I’m Zac - ex sports radio producer turned busy dad and if your life is like mine, you don’t get to park yourself on the couch and lock into every game every night. Last night for instance, I mostly watched on my phone on mute as I tended to dad and husband duties. But a few things that have jumped out before I started recording this: 7 Boston players hit 2 or more 3s?? I don’t know what the record is, maybe we can find it, but that has to be up there right? Regular season rotations usually don’t go past 9-10 And in the playoffs they’re like 7-8 So that’s almost everyone who actually plays hitting multiple 3s… that seems significant A buddy of mine sent me a text during the game with a stat from Tom Haberstroh that the Celtics hit 7 3s in the first quarter which is more than the Chicago Bulls did in the entire 1991 finals series (5) That’s kinda crazy… also a clear illustration of how the game has changed over the past 25 years… Yes… it’s been almost 25 years since the 91 finals…. I think I just felt another gray hair come in.. Aside from that we’re going to do some digging… My goal with this channel is for some of these videos to be full on reaction videos to games I either couldn’t fully lock into, or missed entirely. I know I’m not the only sports fan in the world with other responsibilities so I’m hoping this is a fun way to dig into the numbers from the box scores, recaps, look up some stats and just see what we missed!
