The UNIRSM hosts the NUSCT 3rd Rectors’ Annual MeetingOn the 20th October, 2021, rectors and vice-rectors from the universities of the Network of Universities of Small Countries and Territories came together in the Republic of San Marino to celebrate the NUSCT 3rd Annual Meeting, the network’s first face-to-face meeting since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.The meeting, which followed participation in the 2021-2022 UNIRSM Academic Year Inaugural Ceremony and a visit to the “Dante” exhibition at the Embassy of Italy in San Marino, was hosted by member Università degli Studi della Repubblica di San Marino , in hybrid format to facilitate participation by members who could not travel to the meeting site. Meeting participants congratulated President Miquel Nicolau as they reviewed with satisfaction the consolidation and evolution of the network during the pandemic, which grew by 4 members to now represent almost all European smal

> 3rd NUSCT Rectors’ Meeting - 20 October 2021 - Republic of San Marino> 𝐌𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐍𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐮 – 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐔𝐒𝐂𝐓 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭Miquel Nicolau i Vila has been President of the University of Andorra (UdA) since May 2015,when he was elected unanimously by the University Council. Born in 1962 and trained in numerousfields, he has a doctorate in Electronic Engineering from Ramon Llull University (URL). He alsohas a master's degree in Philosophy from the University of Barcelona (UB), a master's degree inComputer Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and a master's degreein Intelligent Systems and Environmental Parallels from Ramon Llull University. By virtue of hisrecent positions of academic responsibility, he has coordinated the presidency of the UdA anddirected the research and doctoral program.The Universitat d’Andorra was founded in 1988 and is a dynamic, young and fast-growinguniversity. > 3rd NUSCT Rectors’ Meeting - 20 October 2021 - Republic of San Marino> 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐬 𝐏𝐨𝐮𝐲𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐚𝐬 – 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐚Dr Philippos Pouyioutas is Professor of Computer Science and the Rector of the University of Nicosia. He studied at the University of London (BSc Computer Science – Queen Mary College – 1988, MSc Databases and Information Systems – Birkbeck College – 1989, PhD Object-Oriented Databases – Birkbeck College – 1996). His doctoral degree studies were funded by scholarships from the University of London, the Overseas Research Scholarship (ORS) Award Scheme and the Leventis Foundation. In the past his areas of teaching have included:Historical Studies; Introductory Political Thought; British Politics and Government; Contemporary Political Theory; Methodology and Methods in the Social Sciences; Urban Policy in the UK;Explorations in Ideology and Language; Health and Health Inequalities. Chik has researched and published extensively on a range of issues, including language and social change, community development, urban regeneration, and over the past decade, on health and health inequalities – particularly, in collaboration with the NHS Health Scotland and the Glasgow Centre for Population Health, the phenomenon of ‘excess mortality’ in Scotland and Glasgow.The University of the Faroe Islands, located in T.rshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands, is a public university established in 1965, with a faculty and administrative staff of 150 and an enrollment of 1500 students. He teaches Management Science & Decision Analysis, Operations Research, Applied Business Statistics and Business Research Methods on FEMA's undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Frank's research focuses on investigating phenomena in the Organisational Sciences. He has published papers on risk management, corporate governance, HRM, environmental management and statistical/methodological misconceptions. The L-Università ta’ Malta (University of Malta) is the country’s leading tertiary institution, catering for some 11,500 students who follow undergraduate and postgraduate studies. > 3rd NUSCT Rectors’ Meeting - 20 October 2021 - Republic of San Marino> 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐣𝐚 𝐏𝐞𝐤𝐨𝐯𝐢ć – 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐞-𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐨Dr Sanja Pekovic has a Ph.D. in Economics from the University Paris-EST. She is Associate Professor at the University of Montenegro and Associate Researcher at the University Paris-Dauphine. Between 2006 and 2011, she was Researcher at the Center for Labor Studies (Centre d’Eudes de l’Emploi) and Lecturer at the University Paris-EST. In 2006, she obtained a Master’s degree from the Ecole Nationale Des Pontset Chaussées and University of Paris-EST Marne-la-Vallée. Her research interests are within the field of quality and environmental economics, economics of innovation, applied econometrics, and on this topic she has presented studies at national and international scientific congresses, which have been published in international journals.The Univerzitet Crne Gore (University of Montenegro) is the oldest and the largest higher education, scientific and art institution in Montenegro.
