The Massacre of Glencoe 1692 - Part 2 : Foxes in the Henhouse (Scottish History)
February 1692. Under the roofs of the MacDonalds, government soldiers share meals, warmth, and stories with their hosts. For two weeks, the families of Glencoe practice the sacred Highland hospitality, unaware they are sheltering their future executioners. This second part of the documentary explores the most disturbing period of the Glencoe Massacre: those fourteen days when soldiers lived in close proximity with their victims, sharing their daily lives, playing with their children, drinking their whisky. How could these men conceal their intentions? What bonds were formed during this cohabitation? And how did they react when the order to execute their hosts finally arrived? ——————————————————————————— ➜ Instagram : / odyssiapodcast ➜ Bluesky : https://bsky.app/profile/odyssia20.bs... ➜ Threads : https://www.threads.net/@odyssiapodcast ➜ Facebook : / odyssiapodcast ➜ Twitter X: https://x.com/Odyssiapodcast ➜ Podcast : https://open.spotify.com/show/6SZQ52C... ➜ Mail: [email protected] on Ausha. The Massacre of Glencoe 1692 - Part 1 : Shadows of the Crown (Scottish History)
In this first episode of "The Mountains Remember," we explore the political storm that engulfed Scotland in the wake of the Glorious Revolution. As William of Orange seized the English throne in 1688, the Highland clans found themselves pawns in a dangerous European game of thrones. Journey with me through the complex web of loyalties that bound clan chiefs to the exiled King James, even as a new political order demanded their allegiance. Discover how Scotland became a chessboard where French ambitions, English fears, and Highland traditions collided with deadly consequences. This episode sets the stage for one of history's most notorious betrayals and explores the fateful decisions that would lead to tragedy in a snowy Highland glen.——————————————————————————— ➜ Instagram : / odyssiapodcast ➜ Bluesky : https://bsky.app/profile/odyssia20.bs... ➜ Threads : https://www.threads.net/@odyssiapodcast ➜ Facebook : / odyssiapodcast ➜ Twitter X: https://x.com/Odyssiapodcast ➜ Podcast : https://open.spotify.com/show/6SZQ52C... ➜ Mail: [email protected] on Ausha.
