"Did It Even Happen?" - A Musical Analysis of Luca Guadagnino's 'Queer' (2024)
Looking at Luca Guadagnino's latest film Queer, Jacob asks: does its soundtrack just supplement the narrative?Looking at the use of two songs from Nirvana (one a Sinead O'Connor cover), Jacob first explores the relationship between licensed music and artifacting, a key process of Queer. Going further into Queer's soundtrack (composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross), Jacob considers the role of motifs in music, and the ways in which the paratext of the soundtrack can inform more upon Queer as a whole. It's me, I'm Jacob.
