What started out as a Meetup Group is now a podcast so more people can join in on great conversations about Philosophy. In each episode, a question is asked, and members respond with thoughtful comments moderated by Professor Amy Keely. The professor will also host philosophers on the podcast to hear their perspectives, including her focus area of Fashion Philosophy. The podcast's mission is to be a space where everybody may respectfully join in the conversation and where knowledge can turn into Wisdom.

    What is the role of pseudo-science?

    From participating scientists to philosophers, this was a lively, interesting conversation about what is pseudoscience and its role. Each meeting provides definitions and language, and the calls are recorded with helpful instructions on how participants can protect themselves if they still want to participate.Definitions:Pseudoscience: Consists of statements, beliefs, or practices that claim to be both scientific and factual but are incompatible with the empirical nature of the scientific method.Scientific Method: It was developed over the centuries from the ancient and medieval world. The scientific method involves careful observation coupled with rigorous skepticism because cognitive assumptions can distort the interpretation of the observation. Scientific inquiry includes creating a testable hypothesis through inductive reasoning, testing it through experiments and statistical analysis, and adjusting or discarding the hypothesis based on the results.

While she holds a Ph.D., ABD in Philosophy, Aesthetics and Art Theory with a focus on fashion philosophy - she is also an award winning marketer and college professor. The Meetup Group, started with only 225 members, has grown to over a thousand members. We now want to expand the group of listeners and commenters who want to move past knowledge into wisdom by learning from ancient and modern philosophers and philosophies.
