How to support a bereaved child

The realilty of living with advanced Head and Neck cancer is that circumstances can change and escalate quickly. On top of that we often find it difficult to talk about death, how to prepare ourselves and our families for it. Oracle Cancer Trust has worked together with Debs Adams, the Education Lead from the Child Bereavment Support Charity Simon Says to deliver this podcast episode for parents, caregivers, family friends, teachers, youth workers or anyone else who wants to understand how they can help a child that has lost or will loose a significant person in their life to Head and Neck cancer.Debs Adams is the Educational Lead at Simon Says – Child Bereavement Support Charity. Prior to this role, she was a Primary School Teacher and has worked in a variety of Infant and Primary schools across Hampshire. Simon Says support Hampshire children and young people up to the age of 18 years where a significant person in their life has died or is dying. Simon Says was established in 2001 in response to a lack of appropriate grief support available to children and young people, and their families, in Hampshire Barbara Fountain is the Fundraising and Communications Officer for Oracle Cancer Trust. As a Tongue Cancer survivor and community leader for young tongue cancer patients, she has experienced a lot of loss and grief first hand and wants to learn how we can better support the Head and Neck cancer community.
