Oslo for AI

Dionna McPhatter was a gifted high school basketball player being recruiting by Big 10 schools. In a twist that surprising her she chose to go to West Point, where she played ball and trained to be a future Army leader. Due to sports injuries, Dionna wasn't physically able to serve. We talked about why she chose West Point, about what she learned from being a high performance team player and what all that prepared her for in a career immersed in data science and storytelling.

Uma Maharaj is the Manager of Diversity, Equity and Belonging at the Grand River Hospital system in Kitchner-Waterloo. A graduate of the Strategic Foresight and Innovation Master's program at OCADU, Uma has a powerful toolkit for designing for diversity in heathcare.

Jake Dunagan is the Director, Governance Futures Lab at Institute for the Future. He's holds a PhD in Futures Studies from the University of Hawaii where he studies with Jim Dater. Jake has been doing fascinating theoretical work and practical experiments in political futures, including, most lately running a model constitutional convention in Austin, Texas. Jake and I talk about his work and about what the governance of AI might look like if we build new models for participation.

Morgan and I discuss our common history working in innovation within the U.S. Department of Defense and the potential of connecting participants from diverse communities for the Oslo for AI project.
