Trailer Reaction: Spider-Noir
Mickey Factz and Tat Wza are back with another Trailer Reaction - this time diving into the gritty, stylized world of Spider-Noir starring Nicolas Cage. With Pete Rock checking in from Switzerland, the crew breaks down a trailer that surprised everyone - delivering action, atmosphere, and a bold noir aesthetic that has them seriously impressed. From the black-and-white vs. color debate to standout moments like swinging, fight scenes, and unexpected villain teases, the conversation quickly turns into a heated comparison with Lanterns. Is this the sleeper hit of the year? Did Amazon just raise the bar for superhero storytelling? And then there’s Tom… who might have the most controversial take of the episode. Tap in, watch the full reaction, and let us know—are you riding with Spider-Noir or not? Bonus: Comic Culture Versus — Superman vs Sentry
Welcome to the first edition of Comic Culture Versus (CCV) — where we put iconic comic book characters head-to-head and debate who would actually win. In this episode, Mickey Factz and Wza step into the arena to break down one of the most overpowered matchups in comics: Superman vs Sentry. DC’s original powerhouse, powered by the sun and known as the blueprint for modern superheroes, faces off against Marvel’s unstable god-tier hero with the power of a million exploding suns — and the terrifying presence of The Void lurking behind him. Strength, durability, molecular manipulation, mental instability, and one big question: Who really wins? Listen to the full debate and decide for yourself.

Marvel Mayhem: Wonder Man, Missing Spider-Man & Doomsday Rumors
The crew is back after a break and jumping straight into the chaos of comic culture. Pete Rock, Tat Wza, and Mickey Factz break down Marvel’s Wonder Man—from the strong character work and cultural storytelling to the debate over whether a superhero show should actually show… more superheroes. Then the big question hits the table: Where is the Spider-Man trailer? The guys dig into Sony’s strange rollout strategy, talk Spider-Man Noir, and speculate about what’s really happening behind the scenes as we inch closer to the next Spidey film. They also run through the latest Marvel and DC news, including Daredevil returning, the upcoming Wolverine game, casting rumors around Doomsday, and what the future might look like after Secret Wars. And before signing off, the conversation shifts to something bigger—AI in comic culture. Is it a tool for creators, a threat to artists, or just the modern version of kids smashing action figures together and imagining crossovers we’ve always wanted to see? As always, it’s love, it’s hate, and it’s everything in between when it comes to comic culture. Comic Chaos: Leaks, Doom Bots & Bootleg Trailers
The crew is back together—and it feels like a reunion episode with opinions. Mickey Factz, Tat Wizard, and Pete Rock kick off their final episode of the year by unpacking the leaked Avengers: Doomsday footage (or refusing to), Marvel’s trailer rollout, and why messing up Doom would be unforgivable. From bootleg Spider-Man: Brand New Day clips and Amazing Fantasy #15 nostalgia to Supergirl, Lobo, James Gunn skepticism, and Scarlett Johansson potentially stepping into the Phantasm role, the conversation stays wild and unfiltered. They wrap things up with emotional X-Men ’97 Season 2 death predictions, gaming talk, and a fast-paced rundown of the stacked 2026 comic slate—ending the year exactly how they started it: honest, passionate, and deep in comic culture. Langston Sessoms: Comics, Cameras & Framing the Multiverse
This week, the Comic Culture crew sits down with filmmaker and visual architect Langston “Chop & Shoot” Sessoms, a man who has pointed his lens at legends from BET to Hot 97 to Conway The Machine — and somehow survived the debate over whether Superman or Peacemaker had the better 2025 run. Mickey, Tat, and Pete dig into Chop’s true comic origins (spoiler: he’s from DC, literally), why story beats matter more than spectacle, and how comic panels made him a better director. Chop breaks down working with Conway on his upcoming short film, picks his go-to duo for Marvel Cosmic Invasion, and schools the crew on why X-Men ’97 hit harder than a Gambit ace card to the chest. Of course, the squad swerves into the usual chaos: Is Endgame therapy or cinema? Did The Eternals mark the beginning of the end? Should every character really be cracking jokes? And who’s going to talk Pete Rock into scoring Chop’s feature film? If you love comics, filmmaking, or just enjoying four grown men arguing about fictional gods, robots, and mutants, this episode is your panel-by-panel masterpiece. Comic Kaepernick: The Drop-In, Damson Idris Rumors & Doomsday Shift
What starts as a regular session of Our Love/Hate Relationship with Comic Culture quickly mutates into a full-on multiversal glitch when Colin. Freaking. Kaepernick. pops into the screen like an unlockable character. One moment the crew is debating whether he could pull off the Black Panther accent, the next moment he’s actually there—proving Tatt wasn’t hallucinating in 8-bit resolution. From accidental celebrity cameos to debating which heroes would win in hypothetical MCU smackdowns, Mickey, Tat, Pete, and Tom spiral through Doomsday rumors, Spider-Man trailer conspiracies, Iron Fist redemption arcs, and whether Damson Idris can carry the mantle(s) of T’Challa across universes. Plus: Professor X mind-wipes, Captain Hydra shock value, and the great “Can athletes actually fight?” debate no one asked for. This episode has surprise guests, surprise opinions, and surprise tech issues. It might be the most comic-book, comic-book podcast episode ever. Cheo Hodari Coker: Biggie, Luke Cage & the Power of Storytelling
Mickey Factz, Tat Wza, and Pete Rock link up with the legendary writer, showrunner, and cultural architect Cheo Hodari Coker—the mind behind Luke Cage and the biopic Notorious. From profiling Pete Rock and CL Smooth back in his Rap Pages days to crafting the cinematic soul of Harlem’s bulletproof hero, Coker takes us deep into his creative universe. He opens up about Biggie as a real-life superhero, how Luke Cage became hip-hop television’s crown jewel, and why Mahershala Ali’s unforgettable Cottonmouth had to die. The crew dives into the real Marvel politics behind character rights, the lost plans for Luke Cage Season 3 (Public Enemy titles and all), and why “culture is the cheapest special effect.” It’s a masterclass in storytelling, legacy, and the eternal crossover between hip-hop and heroism. Love/Hate x Unglossy: Jokes, Stakes, and Superhero Mistakes

Bun B, Tom Frank, and Jeffrey Sledge join Tat Wza, Mickey Factz, and Pete Rock for part two of this special crossover—so if you missed part one, catch it over on Unglossy. Together they break down why clarity beats chaos, how humor became the MCU’s Achilles’ heel, and what happens when villains lose their menace. From Bun’s Deadpool variant dreams and wild Spider-Man theories to a detour through Marvel Zombies and What If, this episode dives deep into the balance between jokes, stakes, and storytelling that actually sticks. Body Count: Zombies Pt. 1–2, Red Hulk What-Ifs & Doomsday Trailer
The “butter effect” is officially buried and the Cyclops shades are on—Mickey’s camera is clean, Pete’s broadcasting live from a Cincinnati record store, and Tat’s ready to fight for Peacemaker like it pays his rent. We dive into Marvel Zombies (Eps. 1–2): Young Avengers mayhem, power sets finally unchained, and that slick Blade/Moon Knight mash-up that had us yelling at the screen. Plus a jellybean-style body-count game (closest wins bragging rights), and a speed run through the rumor mill: Ghost Rider leading Midnight Suns, Daredevil pulling up in Brand New Day, Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk durability, a Simpsons movie quietly jacking a 2027 Marvel slot, and when to expect that Doomsday trailer. Pete’s mandated to finish Eps. 3–4 by next week. Place your bets. Tap in. Vinyl Mania: Marvel Zombies, Madripoor & Tombstone’s Return
Pete’s dialing in from a Cincinnati record bin, Tat’s got notes like court exhibits, and Mickey’s already swinging. We crown Marvel Zombies as the MCU’s most turned-up animation since X-Men ’97—power sets unleashed, consequences real—and assign homework for next week’s full breakdown. Then it’s claws out for the Wolverine game (Madripoor, Omega Red, the whole feral mood), and New York goes villain-deep as Brand New Day stacks the deck—hello Alistair Smythe, Scorpion, and our guy Cron Don back as Tombstone. Midnight corner: Ghost Rider rumored to steer the Midnight Suns. Gotham corner: Hush whispers at The Batman Part II while we argue whether this baby-bat even needs a Robin yet. Quick hits: Tom Holland’s stunt scare, Nova smoke, and a little Star Wars slander to keep the droids angry. Kick, Punch, Score: Shaolin Jazz, Mr. Sinister & Blade’s Mea Culpa
DJ 2-Tone Jones and Gerald Watson of Shaolin Jazz / Can I Kick It? pull up and turn the pod into a projector room—live-scoring cult classics like Eight Diagram Pole Fighter, Tron: Legacy, and Predator, blending beats and dialogue like sonic kung fu. From there, the barbershop buzzes: Marvel vs. DC loyalties, rumors of Mr. Sinister leading the next X-Men wave, Doom leaks, and Knull creeping into Spider-Man’s orbit. Affleck’s Daredevil gets revisited (MCD’s Kingpin forever), Charlie Cox’s version gets the crown, and She-Hulk catches a roasting worthy of the Sokovia Accords. Add a $60 Fantastic Four Blu-ray debate, a B-minus for the new Superman, and flowers for the legends we lost. Shaolin Jazz also drops dates—Blade at Lincoln Center in NYC on Halloween, Songbyrd’s monthly throwdowns, and T2 at Creative Alliance. Undead & Unstoppable: Marvel Zombies, Brainiac & The Sinister Six
Marvel Zombies has the crew fired up—What If… vibes with extra gore, Spidey wildin’, and Tony Stark straight undead. Pete, Mickey, and Tat trade shots on Daredevil’s missing suit, Marvel’s hot streak (X-Men ’97, Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four), and rumors of a Sinister Six swarm in Spider-Man. DC gets its licks too: Superman: Man of Tomorrow in 2027 (Brainiac or bust), Black Mask stepping up, and even a Static Shock curveball with Big Sean in the mix. They close it out by ranking 2027’s heavyweights—Secret Wars, Spider-Verse, The Batman 2, Superman 2—and unite under one rallying cry: Make Iron Fist Great Again. Woke Up Black: Skyzoo, Miles & The Black Punisher
Pete Rock, Mickey Factz, Tat Wza, and special guest Skyzoo turn the mic into a comic shop barbershop. Sky breaks down why Miles Morales is the truest Brooklyn rep (Jordan 1s > star-spangled nostalgia), then the crew debates Peacemaker fatigue and Gunn’s Superman vibes. Street Fighter casting gets spicy—50 Cent as Balrog, Jason Momoa as Blanka, and a hard side-eye at a certain “comic relief.” We nerd out over Eyes of Wakanda’s Iron Fist episode, the bloody-beautiful Marvel Zombies trailer (Blade’s face, not voice), and salute Marvel animation’s hot streak (X-Men ’97, What If). Skyzoo drops a gem from the ’90s crates: the time Punisher woke up Black—cue a whole convo on casting that actually looks like the character. Plus: Wolverine PS5 hype (MA rating, Hand rumors, maybe Hulk), Doom-era MCU scuttlebutt, and a quick Bat-rumor check. Tap in, argue loud, and go hunt that Punisher arc after the credits. Prattman: Chris Pratt Might Be Batman (Help Us All)
Pete Rock, Mickey Factz, and Tat Wza skip Peacemaker homework like pros and sprint into the rumor-verse: RDJ vs. Reynolds on set (egos with capes), Deadpool maybe benched for Secret Wars, and “is Cumberbatch clocking out as Strange?” They toast Fantastic Four hitting $500M, daydream an Andrew Garfield comeback (Sony, stop villain solo movies), and pitch a two-part Secret Wars where Doom wins… for a while. Spidey scoops: Jackie Chan on stunts, Florence Pugh + Tramell Tillman join the party. Then it’s Bat-chaos: Chris Pratt as Batman?! Cue Bale nostalgia, McConaughey “alright,” and Gyllenhaal side-eye. Final boss debate: Nicholson vs. Ledger for Joker supremacy. Vote in the comments—and yes, the $2 Peacemaker bet is officially on. The crew debates DC’s next moves, the “games are canon” twist, and the rumor of a never-before-seen MCU hero in the next Spider-Man—bets fly on Iceman, Firestar, a Defender, or Black Cat. Pete Rock, Mickey Factz, and Tat Wza are back—reuniting for the first time in a minute to dive deep into the latest from the comic book movie world. M-SHE-U
The comic guys dive all in on a variety of topic while welcoming to the show Juanyto, aka DJ John, who has worked for HOT 97 (WQHT-FM) for more than a decade as an on-air host and mix DJ. Juanyto is also an Ebro in the Morning Show’s correspondent and a show producer as well as the co-host of the Feed the Meter podcast, covering a wide range of topics such as music, fashion, and sports. The new Marvels trailer is out and Mickey wants to make it very clear he loves woman before ripping it apart and as Pete states best “what is wack is wack and what is dope is dope.” But of course, Marvel attorney (and now doctor) Tat Wza was there to carry the torch of praise and connective tissue. The debate roars on about Ben Affleck, Juanyto explains his thought on the recent Thor movie to which Mickey jumped in to explain exactly why Thor ruined it all. The bottom line, the MCU desperately needs the Fantastic 4 and X-men – nobody cares about anything else. ABOUT THIS SHOW
Comics raised us. Then they tested us.Our Love/Hate Relationship with Comic Culture is a weekly, no-holds-barred conversation about Marvel, DC, and the ever-expanding comic universe—through the eyes of people who grew up living the culture, not just consuming it.Hosted by legendary hip-hop producer Pete Rock, radio and content producer Tat Wza, and hip-hop recording artist Mickey Factz, the show dives into the wins, the misses, and the moments that spark debate. From the pages to the screen, from X-Men to Spider-Man, Hulk to the multiverse, nothing is off limits. If it’s iconic, controversial, or just plain confusing, it’s getting discussed. This isn’t fandom for clicks—it’s love, criticism, nostalgia, and truth, all in the same conversation. Because when you care about something this much, you don’t just praise it…you challenge it.Follow @ComicCulturePodcast on Instagram and join the debate.Produced by Merrick Studios – where culture takes the mic.
