Gathering Strength: Moving Through Grief in the Quiet Season
Hello Friends, Welcome to Overcoming Gracefully the Art of Forgiveness. In this episode, we slow down and intentionally lean into the internal work required to move through grief, focusing on the foundational practices of self-awareness and forgiveness.Grief doesn't operate on a schedule—it demands a "quiet season" for true healing. If you’ve felt the societal pressure to "get over it" or "bounce back," this episode is for you. We acknowledge that your internal world is mirroring the deep, necessary stillness of fall and winter: a time for shedding, slowing down, and dormancy. We begin with self-awareness, guiding you to identify exactly where your grief is lodged—in your body, your emotions, and your routines. We discuss why Grief is love with nowhere to go and how recognizing this massive energy shift is the first step toward reclaiming your peace. You'll learn to differentiate your current state from mere sadness, moving beyond the counterproductive myth that you should immediately "get over it."Healing is non-linear, and "gathering strength" isn't about eliminating pain; it's about building the muscle to hold the pain without breaking. We explore the power of memory, contrasting the Trap (replaying painful scenarios) with the Strength (honoring healing memories). Learn the practical "One Hour Rule" tool to protect your day, and discover how to practice "Active Rest"—activities that genuinely replenish your spirit rather than just distract you. Finally, we look at the ultimate destination: forgiveness. We argue that forgiveness cannot be forced; it is the natural, gentle consequence of having thoroughly processed your grief. This is the act of giving yourself peace, forgiving yourself for your vulnerability. Forgiveness is the final exhale of the pain, freeing you.Romans 8:28, which states "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose". This verse is a source of comfort and assurance, suggesting that even difficult circumstances are used by God to achieve His ultimate good purpose.🎙️ Stay tuned and continue allowing God to align you with your purpose!Share your thoughts and stories with us, and don’t forget to leave a review or tag us on social media. 🔗 Connect with us and continue your journey of healing and hope.At Overcoming Gracefully: The Art of Forgiveness, your support means the world to us. The Power and Renewal Of Lent
Hello beautiful sisters and brothers-friends,In this special episode of Overcoming Gracefully: The Art of Forgiveness, we’re stepping into the powerful season of Lent—a time of sacrifice, reflection, and spiritual renewal. Lent is more than just giving up certain pleasures; it’s about eliminating things that pull us away from God and realigning our hearts with His purpose.Lent is rooted in the 40 days Jesus spent fasting in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11), preparing for His ultimate sacrifice on the cross. It is a season that encourages us to reflect on the grace and mercy we’ve been given through Jesus’ death and resurrection. This time calls us to prune away things in our lives that no longer serve our spiritual journey—whether it be negative thoughts, unhealthy habits, or distractions that keep us from living fully in God’s purpose.Elimination feels uncomfortable. Letting go of something—whether it’s a relationship, habit, comfort, or personal desire—can make us feel uncertain. However, pruning is essential to growth. John 15:2 reminds us:“He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.” – John 15:2 (NIV)In this episode, we’ll explore:✔️ The true meaning of Lent and why it matters✔️ How the practice of elimination creates space for grace✔️ Why pruning is necessary for spiritual growth✔️ The connection between Jesus’ sacrifice and our renewal✔️ Ways to realign with God’s purpose during LentForgiveness also plays a powerful role in this season. Wisdom vs. Folly: A Battle for Clarity
In this episode of the "Bringing Light to the Darkside" series, we delve into the timeless battle between wisdom and folly. We'll explore the depths of human behavior through the lens of biblical wisdom, focusing on how to discern and choose the path of wisdom over folly. Our discussion will be anchored in Mark 7:20-23, where Jesus illuminates the root of human folly, and we will complement this with insights from Proverbs and Ecclesiastes. Mark 7:20-23 (NIV) "He went on: 'What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.'" Proverbs 14:7-8 (NIV) "Stay away from a fool, for you will not find knowledge on their lips. The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways, but the folly of fools is deception." Proverbs 10:23 (NIV) "A fool finds pleasure in wicked schemes, but a person of understanding delights in wisdom." Ecclesiastes 10:1 (NIV) "As dead flies give perfume a bad smell, so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor." We must find wisdom in all situations and understand that folly can misguide us in life. It is enlightening to bring light to various situations, but we must always rely on God to direct us towards the purpose He has for our lives. This means being cautious of folly and focusing on seeking wisdom. All these evils come from inside and defile a person,'" we explore the dark reality of this grievous sin and its impact on families and communities. Especially murder. Join in on this controversial topic, as I share a deeply personal story of loss and heartache. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.’” Exodus 20:13 (NIV) "You shall not murder." Leviticus 24:17 (NIV) "Anyone who takes the life of a human being is to be put to death." Breaking Free from Envy: A Spiritual Awakening
Welcome to the "Bringing Light to the Darkside" Series! We will dive into Bible Verse Mark 7:20-23 "He went on: 'What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person's heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly.'" Starting with Envy. Envy is a powerful emotion that can lead us down a path of dissatisfaction and turmoil. The Bible offers profound insights into the dangers of envy and guides us toward a life of contentment and peace. Here are some verses to reflect on: Ecclesiastes 4:4"And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind." Psalm 37:1"Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong;" James 3:16"For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice." Titus 3:3"At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another." Let's strive to free ourselves from envy and focus on the blessings in our lives. By doing so, we can cultivate a heart full of gratitude and a life filled with true joy. May we always remember that our worth is not measured by comparing ourselves to others but by the love and grace we receive from God. Navigating Doubt and Disbelief: Learning from Jesus' Experience in Nazareth
Welcome Friends. Let's delve into the complexities of doubt and disbelief in this thought-provoking podcast episode. Drawing inspiration from Jesus' encounter with skepticism in his hometown of Nazareth, we explore the challenges of maintaining faith in the face of doubt, both in biblical times and in our modern lives, with a few short recollections. Through insightful discussion and relatable anecdotes, we uncover valuable lessons on perseverance, faithfulness, and the importance of community support. From Acts 2:42-47, Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, and Philippians 2:2, we discover timeless truths that resonate with believers today. Acts 2:42-47 "And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved." Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." Philippians 2:2 "Complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind." Forgiving Ourselves for Comparison the Ultimate Stealer of Joy
Hello Friends, Welcome to latest episode of "Overcoming Gracefully" where we unravel the powerful narrative of forgiveness in the face of the ultimate joy-stealer—comparison. Let's navigate the uncharted waters of comparison and discover how forgiveness becomes the compass guiding us back to our authentic selves. Is there an area of your life where you find yourself comparing yourself? Has the comparison created negative thoughts? As a single mom, I have experienced comparison in my life. Learning to curb these comparison feelings can help one focus on their own paths, not the paths of others. The most important thing to realize as we go along our own purpose seeking life journey is that we are all different. We have our own lives and the ability to make changes to achieve what we want. If we wallow in comparison we will not grow or move to another level. One must stay positive by refraining from comparison and finding joy in our own lives by being grateful for where we are as we move towards where we want to be.
