    Interview with Dr. Hoda Refaat

    Dr. Hoda Refaat shares the experiences and acknowledges the contributions of the incredible community that brought the IFS Model to Egypt. Hoda Refaat Mahfouz, M.D., M.S. C., Egyptian Consultant Psychiatrist, Psychotherapist, psychodramatist and certified group psychotherapist  (CGP). She has more than 20 years of clinical experience and she is trained in different modalities of psychotherapy. She is an IFS lead program assistant, IFS-accredited consultant, IFIO staff member, EMDR consultant, Somatic Experiencing practitioner. She is the chairperson of psychodrama section of the Egyptian Association for Group Therapies and Processes (EAGT).

    Speaking with Ana Morante; Self-Led Motherhood and bringing the model to Latin America

    My conversation today is with Ana Morante and is about the role of IFS in her family, in her role as a wife and mother. She shares about the self-led motherhood collective and bringing the IFS model to Latin America. Ana Morante, LMFT, is a bilingual, bicultural Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified IFS and EMDR therapist, and Certified Family Life Educator. Ana was born and raised in Lima, Perú, where she completed her bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology. She earned a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from San Jose State University after immigrating to the US. She has been in private practice since 1995 and has worked in numerous mental health and community organization settings. Most of her professional work has been dedicated to low income, Latino, immigrant populations. For the past 25+ years, Ana has been a Family Wellness Partner and Trainer, and has trained numerous instructors in this program throughout the United States and the world.  Given her passion for “Intentional Motherhood”, Ana founded “Resilient Families Gilroy” in 2017, which is a mindfulness-based, trauma-informed, community led program geared to facilitate intergenerational healing in low-income immigrant communities.  In addition to running this program, Ana has a private practice and provides lectures and trainings on mental health and family wellbeing to different organizations and communities globally on an on-going basis.

    Interview with Dr. Will

    Dr. William C. Washington aka “Dr. Will” is a unique individual who combines his passion for music and psychology. He has become a prominent figure in modern psychology and the art scene, pioneering what he calls the "Silver Age of Psychology." His musical background breathes life into this innovative approach, making him a living icon in his field.Known as "Dr. Will," he is a licensed professional clinical counselor supervisor, clinical hypnotherapist, and Psychedelic-assisted therapist specializing in integration (MDMA and Ketamine). He is an Assistant Trainer at the Internal Family Systems Institute, a Rockstar of Black Therapists Rock, a former collegiate-level adjunct faculty, and a counseling mentor. He is also a virtual reality (VR) therapist and created a simulation world during the pandemic to help kids express themselves online. He has a Ph.D. in Health Psychology, focusing on moral distress and recovering from secondary trauma like burnout, compassion fatigue, and job-life satisfaction.Dr. Will has been published as the first author, advocating for better healthcare provisions for mothers suffering from Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS). He is the author of "A qualitative study of moral distress in physicians during the COVID-19 pandemic." He believes we should never choose the better choice, but the HEALTHY one! He is passionate about success and celebrates everyone he meets for being present. Dr. Will has been a healer for Grammy award-winning artists and celebrities since the pandemic, using innovative techniques specifically for artists, and is now making it public to Clevelanders.Dr. Will has created his own holistic experiential integrative modality called R.E.S.E.T., which helps clients process and heal simultaneously through five principles. It is currently becoming a training model for holistic enhancement.There is another side to Dr. Will, he is an accomplished musician who performs locally, nationally, and internationally. He has learned over 9 instruments and was a member of the internationally acclaimed collective Mourning [A] Blkstar while locally leading Da Land Brass Band based in Cleveland, OH. Dr. Will has performed and created music in notable areas such as Cartoon Networks Adult Swim, The Kennedy Center, and Christoph Winkler Company in Germany. He also creates healing circles using his music monthly; intentionally limited seating is used.     Peter Legård Nielsen is a Danish author and certified (IFS) therapist.
