2024 Mandatory PRO-PM For TJA: What You Need to Know
In this episode of Amplified, Dr. Rana hosts Dr. Huddleston and Dr. Sterling to discuss the new mandatory Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) Inpatient Quality Reporting Total Hip and Knee Replacement PROMs Performance Measure (IQR THA/TKA PRO-PM) for THA and TKA that is being implemented this year. The goal of this measure is to quantify pain and functional improvements with validated PRO-PMs to improve patient lives. The hosts discuss what you and your hospital need to know about the PRO-PM, including what metrics need to be collected, what patients should be included and more. The PRO-PM can be submitted to CMS via AJRR and contains 3 new data elements, including Medicare beneficiary ID, narcotics used ≥90 days and the person completing assessment. For the 2027 payment year, the performance period begins July 1, 2024 and the pre-op data collection window begins April 2, 2024. Click here to read the AJRR FAQs for more details.
