2.14 Be Here Now: The Mess and The Miracles

This week’s quote is “Be gentle to yourself, love yourself, even when you’re not yourself.” -Kirsten HillI come to you for this episode mores casual than usual: sans makeup and still in my athleisure clothes. I share that this week has had more moments of feeling low energy and down than I had expected and one way I have coped and continued to show up while decreasing self-judgment also allowing for more rest has been to acknowledge the everyday miracles that often get overlooked. Feeling rich in the miracles of the mundane brings purpose within the symphony experience of all the emotions we naturally cycle through in a human life. This sort of perspective is a great foundation for presence. Links & ResourcesWho’s your life coach? Want to know what free resources I am offering right now or if working together is a good fit? 2.9 Building Self-Trust with "Enough" (ie. Less Than Everything)

Our amazing brains often do this thing where, left unchallenged, they think that doing “enough” actually means doing everything possible, the hard route, the grandest option. But the small, seemingly invisible things are always working. And when “enough” gets you to where you want to go, even though it’s less than 100%, it becomes 100% enough, even if just for this moment. And this is soil for self-trust you can build on, get creative within. Growth doesn’t have to be rushed. And you are always enough.Timestamps(00:00) Welcome and deep breath(00:46) Why this episode is intentionally “enough”(02:08) My recent back pain and what I’ve learned from doing slow, simple exercises(08:41) Conversations about “not doing enough” and how we define it(12:31) Priorities vs. time: a mindset shift(14:47) When it really feels like you’re not enough(18:07) Recap(19:42) Quote & closeLinks & ResourcesConnect with me on Instagram to continue the conversation and to learn more about working with me: @meaganhubbardcoachingSEO Keywordsself-trust, feeling enough, defining enough, slow growth mindset, emotional regulation practices, small steps that create change, trusting yourself in hard seasons, slow is smooth smooth is fast, mindset shifts for confidence, honoring your capacity, prioritizing what matters most

2.7 Purpose: The Why That Ties it All Together

After beginning to introduce the Five P’s framework this season, I realized that a 6th P, purpose, is the foundation that ties every other P together—permission, play, patterns, presence, and perspective. When we understand the “why” behind what we do, we can align our energy, choose our yes’s and no’s more intentionally, and feel more at peace in our routines and relationships.Purpose doesn’t have to feel heavy—it can include lightness, play, and joy. Sometimes, doing something “just because” is a powerful purpose, too.Listen in about how aligning our micro actions (the small things we do every day) with our macro purpose (our larger goals and values) can bring more meaning, energy, and intention into our lives.Timestamps (00:00) Introduction and grounding breath (00:45) Why I added a sixth “P” to the framework (01:22) Exploring what “purpose” really means (02:16) The difference between doing things with purpose and for purpose (03:28) Finding alignment between micro and macro purposes, with real life examples (08:39) Shifting from negative to positive purpose statements (11:20) Quote from Brene Brown and what I love about purpose (13:38) My favorite examples of “just because” purpose (15:48) How purpose connects to all five P’s (17:42) Closing reflections and what’s next for the podcastLinks & ResourcesConnect with me on Instagram to continue the conversation and to learn more about working with me: @meaganhubbardcoachingMentioned in this episode: Daring Greatly by Brené BrownSEO Keywords purpose in everyday life, finding your why, living with intention, micro vs macro purpose, mindful living podcast, women’s personal growth, Permission to Pause podcast

2.6 Speeding Up With Mindful Breathing

Breathing is usually automatic, but it can be intentionally used as a powerful tool to calm your nervous system. One particularly practical and useful time to use this is when eating. Taking even just 2 minutes can remind your brain that you are safe, it's ok to slow down, and escort your body from a fight or flight to rest and digest state, ensuring that your body receives more nourishment from the food you were eating anyway.Listen in for how I do this regularly and taught it in the October Mindful Eating Challenge!Timestamps (00:00) Intro & grounding breaths (00:47) Breath, Proprioception, and Internal locus of control (04:40) Introducing the 5-5-7 breath technique (08:26) How stress affects digestion + nervous system (12:17) How to use breath before/during eating (15:07) Invitation & CloseLinks & ResourcesConnect with me on Instagram: @MeaganHubbardCoachingKeywords breathwork for stress relief, mindful breathing exercise, rest and digest nervous system, 5-5-7 breathing technique, mindful eating and breath connection, stress affects digestion, pause before eating, nervous system reset breathwork, permission to pause

2.5 Patterns: Building Habits that Energize and Sustain You

This week I want to bring into the light the invisible rhythms that shape our days and how to jumpstart intentionally build habits that actually energize and sustain you. Even if you don’t think you have routine patterns, you do. There’s a 3 step process that I will introduce so you can move in the direction of patterns that bring rest, energy, and momentum rather than stress or stagnation. 2.4 Playful Transformation for Everyday Life

I've thought before that play was mostly for children, to entertain them, but it isn't. It’s how our brains love to learn, grow, and create. When we bring curiosity and playfulness into our adult lives, things that once felt heavy than they need to become lighter. Whether it’s chores, relationships, or self-development, approaching them with a sense of play opens new doors of creativity and joy.Timestamps(00:00) Welcome and grounding breath(00:32) Story about spelling homework(04:01) Introducing the 4th “P”: Play(07:35) Introducing hinge statements for a mindset shift(15:08) Balancing playfulness with real-life capacity & Recap(17:32) Invitation work with meLinks & ResourcesJoin my 5-Day Mindful Eating Challenge (starts October 20th) – DM me on Instagram @MeaganHubbardCoachingDM for info about my 6-Week Foundations Coaching Program (beta round)Keywordsplayfulness in adulthood, how to make life more fun, inner child healing, playful mindset, mindfulness for moms, creativity and curiosity, everyday joy, mindset shifts, Permission to Pause podcast

In this episode of Permission to Pause, we continue touching on the 5 P’s. This week is “Perspective.” Perspective is how you interpret and show up in your life. Shifting your perspective helps you move from feeling stuck to seeing new possibilities. There’s no way to see everything, but you can see more than your first impression. I’m so happy to be back!In this episode, I’m kicking off my Five P’s framework with the very first “P”: Permission. Permission is more than just saying yes or no—it’s about building self-trust, allowing yourself to pivot, change your mind, rest, or even eat ice cream for dinner when life calls for it (Yes, I have a story about that!). 16. Choosing What Part of Life is Your Home Base

In this episode, I reflect on what it’s meant for me to shift from identifying as “frazzled and unreliable” to seeing myself as someone grounded in peace and growth—even when life is still very much in motion. I share personal stories that illustrate how I've begun to repeatedly return to a steady, empowered home base. From permission slips to pancake breakfasts, I talk about real moments that have shown me the value of living with acceptance, intention, and grace. Whether you're in the middle of a transition or just feeling the pull for something more grounded, this episode is for you.You were born to be real, not perfect. Life is always going to be a mix—of ease and challenge, order and mess. But you can choose which part you identify with. 14. Pace Your Race Week 3: I Receive, I Give

Have you ever experienced living in the mindset that to give is significantly more valuable than to receive--so much so that you forgot how to feel good being the receiver in a relationship? Have you ever said "No, I'm good, but thanks" to someone's offer of help even though you really wanted to say "Yes, thank you so much"? I have. Have you every said, "Yes, thank you" and it's been incredibly connecting and beneficial for your relationship with the giver? I have. This guided meditation reminds me of the value in being both a generous giver and a grateful receiver. I now believe it is a beautiful cycle in which we are meant to experience both.I'm happy to present this as the final meditation in our series.*UPDATED* Timestamps:(00:00) Welcome and Intro(01:51) Meditation BeginsLinks:Come chat with me on Threads: https://www.threads.net/@meaganhubbardcoachingFollow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/meaganhubbardcoachingBook a FREE 60min Solution Conception callHave a takeaway from this episode? And I would love for meditation to become something supportive for you, even if it looks differently.I created this mini episode for you if :- sitting still to meditate has been an obstacle to practicing.- you like variety and are open to experimenting with a different way/posture of meditating.Links:Come chat with me on Threads: https://www.threads.net/@meaganhubbardcoachingFollow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/meaganhubbardcoachingBook a FREE 60min Solution Conception callHave a takeaway from this episode? Bonus 4: Journaling, a Compliment to Meditation

Have you ever found your mind spinning first thing in the morning or as soon as you have a quiet moment? There's just so many things to think about, right?! I've been there, pushed snooze again, and bought the t-shirt. But there's something I've found that helps me be more aware of what the facts are right now, not jus what scary thing could happen, and what I have control over. Journaling.Journaling is a compliment to meditation. A way to slow down thoughts, put space between them, gain clarity. Taking time to journal, even starting as small as one line brings an attitude of intentional pause, intentional acknowledgement, intentional curiosity, intentional creativity to how you approach your day and your challenges.Grab your favorite pen (mine is currently my purple gel pen), and write a line!Links:Come chat with me on Threads: https://www.threads.net/@meaganhubbardcoachingFollow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/meaganhubbardcoachingBook a FREE 60min Solution Conception callHave a takeaway from this episode? 13. Pace Your Race Week 2: Non-Judgment

Have you ever paused to consider how much energy it takes to be constantly judging the things, circumstances, people, etc. around you (and yourself)? That doesn't mean we need to drop it all together. Many good things require energy. But here's one thing you can do to support yourself in the important practice of making judgments, or decisions, in your life. What if you were to take a period of time where nothing is right or wrong, good or bad for that moment, it just is right now for that moment. And how you feel about it isn't right or wrong, good or bad for that moment, it just is. I'll share how myself and another parent meditator find this practice beneficial during the other 23hrs50min of our day.Happy meditating, thanks for joining me!Timestamps:(00:00) Intro to today's practice(02:53) MeditationLinks:Come chat with me on Threads: https://www.threads.net/@meaganhubbardcoachingFollow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/meaganhubbardcoachingBook a FREE 60min Solution Conception callHave a takeaway from this episode? 11. Pace Your Race and the Power of Meditation

Let's talk meditation! I've been practicing for a little over 3 years. Sometimes more regularly, sometimes less. I find it very valuable, and yet I still find myself in seasons where I am going fewer and farther between and I crave a return to it. So I created something to share with you here where we can practice together. Today I talk some basics and we do a 2min meditation together, because 2min works and "counts"!Maybe you're learning about it and starting for the first time. Maybe you're like me and you've done it before, but a reset sounds great. Maybe you do it regularly, but doing it knowing others are doing it with you also sounds wonderful! No matter your story, you're invited. The "Pace Your Race" meditation series starts officially next week, there are more details at the end of this episode.I have found meditation to be one key ingredient to my ability to be less reactive in relationships, more aware of my emotions, and more thoughtful and self compassionate. Never 100% perfect, but a very noticeable difference in my life experience. I'm not promising a silver bullet, but I do believe in miracles and I think adding meditation and mindfulness to your self care and/or spiritual practices does lead to miracles. Have you ever found yourself avoiding a project—not because you don’t care about it, but because you don’t have the perfect window of time and energy to finish it? In this episode, I reflect on what I’ve learned about the power of pausing and coming back, even when it feels uncomfortable. From home projects that sit half-finished to creative hobbies like adult coloring and embroidery, we explore what gets in the way of starting, stopping, and returning—and how we can shift our mindset around each step. This episode is for anyone who struggles with all-or-nothing thinking, who feels stuck between the desire to complete something and the reality of everyday interruptions. Together, we look at what it means to move forward imperfectly, to celebrate small wins, and to practice stopping on purpose—not as failure, but as a new kind of progress. Ever feel like you start working on a great idea with energy and clarity—only to hit a foggy, frustrating middle where everything feels stuck? We’ve all been there too. It’s that awkward in-between where doubt can start to creep in and you wonder if you’ll ever make it to the other side of it.But what if this part isn’t a problem to solve, but a necessary place to grow? In this episode, we're renaming that space from “the pit” to “creative fertile soil.” I’m sharing gentle, practical strategies—including how to recognize what's already working for you. You don’t have to try so hard all the time. 4. Do it the Same, But Different - And Life Will Be Different

“If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.” - Maya Angelou“Could we change our attitude, we should not only see life differently, but life itself would come to be different.” - Katherine MansfieldIn this episode of Permission to Pause, I talk about the concept of making small shifts while keeping familiar routines unruffled. Instead of overhauling everything when something isn’t working, what if you adjusted just one piece first--your presence? And even when it is working, this approach brings sustainability through the skill of bringing childlike attention and wonder into your life.As a life coach for moms will full lives, I share how small but intentional shifts can create more nourishment, presence, and purpose. I draw from personal experiences and coaching insights to explain how to approach routine tasks with a fresh perspective. I share 7 specific times in your day you can do the same thing, but it feels new and refreshing. Adding a mindful approach makes a big difference in how you feel about the task itself or about your day going forward. Often, the key to more energy and ease is adjusting a small piece rather than a complete overhaul. 2. Lessons in Resilience: Labor, Life & Creative Energy

Welcome to another episode of Permission to Pause!Today, we're diving into an unexpected but powerful connection—how the labor process mirrors the ups and downs of life, creativity, and personal growth. As a labor and delivery nurse, I’ve seen how a baby’s heart rate responds to different stages and aspects of labor, and I’ve realized how much it relates to our own experiences. In this episode, I’ll walk you through three types of heart rate decelerations and how they reflect common life challenges:✨ Normal Pressure: The kind that comes with growth—deadlines, big purchases, new experiences. It’s part of the process, and often, no correction is needed.✨ Quick Onset and often Brief Disruptions: When something cuts off your flow—missed meals, sick kids, unexpected setbacks. A quick pivot or small adjustment can help restore balance.✨ Prolonged Exhaustion: When reserves are running low—burnout, stress, prolonged struggles. The solution? More "oxygen," more space, more support, and sometimes, a major change. What You’ll Learn in This Episode:✔️ How to recognize different “energy dips” in your life✔️ When to stay the course, when to pivot, when to rest, or when to be done✔️ Practical strategies to restore energy and creativity✔️ Why pivoting isn’t a backup plan—it’s part of the processIf this episode resonates with you, I’d love to hear your thoughts! 1. "Eat Lunch and Make New Mistakes" | The Story Behind the Why

In this episode, I’m sharing some personal stories that explain why you’ll hear me end every episode with the advice, “Eat lunch and make some new mistakes.” These two things brought me energy and clarity during a time when I felt mostly drained and stuck on a hamster wheel. As a mom of four who has worked outside the home for most of the past 15+ years, I’ve had plenty of ups and downs figuring out how to balance it all. Plus, now as a health and life coach, I’ve discovered healthier ways to do what I love while being present with the people I love and not spreading myself too thin. Here’s what we’ll dive into in today’s episode:What it means to shift from an external to an internal locus of control. How a song from Zootopia sparked vibrant aliveness in me.Deciding to go back to work after being a stay-at-home mom.The life-changing lessons I learned from my first life coach. Why “small hinges open big doors” is one of my favorite sayings. How eating lunch became a game-changer for my energy and focus. Why I’m so grateful for my past self, imperfections and all. What I hope you’ll take away from this episode:You have more control than you think. Locus of control is a spectrum. When life feels overwhelming, pause, breathe, and focus on one small step you can take right now.Don’t skip lunch—it’s your energy bridge for the day.Mistakes aren’t failures, they are a valuable part of growth. So celebrate the progress you’ve made instead of dwelling on what’s imperfect. Finally, remember: small changes can have a big impact, and even tiny shifts—like a song or a podcast—can help you feel alive again.Timestamps:(00:00) Welcome, deep breath, and a quote(01:51) Nursing school and locus of control(04.35) The song that lit my fire again 10+yrs later(07:10) Skipping sleep and lunch, what I didn’t realize(09:58) The scary decision to go back to work(12:19) How I came to life coaching(14:38) The small things that had bigger impact(16:16) Recap(19:01) Still time to join the Energy Catalyst group program!Links:Energy Catalyst More DetailsEnergy Catalyst Sign UpFollow me on Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/meaganhubbardcoachingFollow me on Threads:https://www.threads.net/@meaganhubbardcoachingTry Everything by Shakira:https://youtu.be/jpqV3dzYOgk?si=P5-G8HxQ2VkIV2yjSerenity Prayer:https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=serenity+prayer&form=HDRSC3&first=1Circle of Control Exercise: https://youtu.be/Uq51g4TJlnU?si=8PfyqCvbLwz2VjlQ
