So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Good-Bye!
🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉So Long, Farewell, Auf Weidersehen, Good Bye! Yes, this is the last original episode of Pickled Watermelon Rinds. You will be able to listen to previous episodes through YouTube at: https://www.youtube.com/@PickledWatermelonRinds. In our final episode, Antie Joan is sick with one of those awful viruses going around, and Ontie has been dealing with hurricane-force winds. Not only did the power go out at Onties, but the wind also knocked down 13 trees! The wind brought up memories to both Aunties of past winds around this area, including realizing that tumbleweeds really do exist. Ontie gives her recommendation for “Wicked: For Good.” It’s been a fun two years and both Aunties have broadened their knowledge of what it takes to provide a podcast and even learned some AI stuff. Here’s hoping you all have a happy and prosperous 2026.Now we invite you to sit back, relax and enjoy!🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉

Vacuuming as Cardio
🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉Get your listening in while you can. The Aunties announce in this episode that they are hanging up their Pickled Watermelon Rinds microphones and headphones at the end of 2025. It’s been a good experience and we’ve learned a lot. Antie Joan found a new store close to her that offer things from greeting cards to booze—a real one-stop shop! The movie “Rental Family” is discussed, as well as the possibility of future job opportunities in that line of work. Think – rent a granny! Ontie went ‘screen less’ for a week and took that opportunity to head up to South Dakota and see Mt. Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial. Back to Basics
🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉In this week’s episode of Pickled Watermelon Rinds, the Aunties tackle everything from unplugging to oddball adventures. Ontie kicks things off with her tale of surviving 29 whole hours without cell phone or internet service—an ordeal that sparks her idea of going “screen free” for an entire week. She’s even thinking of pairing the digital detox with a road trip.Meanwhile, Antie Joan revels in the arrival of cooler weather and drops one of her signature Fun Facts. She also brings listeners the scoop on a delightfully offbeat event headed for Denver: the Oddities & Curiosities Expo.Ontie then switches gears to share her experience at a vegan dinner outing in Boulder before wrapping up the show with a pop-culture highlight—the Naked Gun reboot. From quirky expos to classic comedies getting a fresh spin, the Aunties keep it lively, local, and always a little unexpected. Now we invite you to sit back, relax and enjoy!🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉Links from this episode:Summer Vegan Harvest Dinner - St Julien Hotel in BoulderNational Peach Day - August 28Peaches are botanically related to roses because they both belong to the plant family Rosaceae, also known as the rose family. I Can See Clearly Now
🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉The Aunties cover a lot of topics in this episode. Ontie did a lot of deep cleaning: house cleaned, windows cleaned, and a colonoscopy. Antie Joan noticed the Patcha website, which sells products made from clothing that was sent to landfills. That brought on a conversation about artists who create art from discarded denim. Ontie takes in a movie at the Nederland Theater, and also gives a shout out to a friend and poet who mentioned the Lion’s Gate, a powerful energetic window believed to be ideal for manifestation. Antie Joan wraps it up by discussing changes going on around her.Now we invite you to sit back, relax and enjoy!🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉Links from this episode:Happy Home House CleaningBluebird Glass and WindowPatchaLions GateQuestion for the Aunties? Bend, Don't Break
🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉Ontie had a wild animal break into her house this past week, and one of Antie Joan’s friends had a bear just mosey on up to her driveway. Just another day in Paradise. Both Aunties stretched their creative wings and took a couple workshops. One was Pour Your Own Epoxy, where we made charcuterie boards, and the other was Paint Your Pets. Antie Joan tuned into 60 Minutes and saw the episode about AI Labelers. It was a real eye-opener to find out how information gets into the AI brain. Antie Joan also read “The Life of Chuck,” which prompted a discussion about what would we all do if the day came where there was no more Internet. Now we invite you to sit back, relax and enjoy!🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉Links from the Episode:Raw Sugar Hand Soap - AmazonPsychic Soul MatesBonsai BarThe Louisville UndergroundQuestion for the Aunties? 🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉After a two-week break, the Aunties are back and ready to go! Shout out to National Aunties’ Day on July 26! Ontie had to admit that Antie Joan was right—about the handheld bidet, that is. Both of our hosts dealt with their own heatwave, and Antie Joan’s A/C broke during the middle of it. She gives tips on how to get your service call bumped up to the top of the Wait List. In keeping with the theme of this episode, ‘O-69,’ Ontie chose “Dying for Sex,” an FX and Hulu series. It is a real emotional rollercoaster and well worth watching.
