Season 2 Ep 1- Soft Life

n this episode Shandia and Sandra discuss the implications of "the soft life". We have often believed the narrative that something being seemingly effortless must be of God while if there are challenges and obstacles, it must be God telling you no. Season 1 Ep 9: How to love like Jesus

In this episode, we discuss what it means to love one another the way Christ loves us, His church. Jesus, the second person of the Holy Trinity, was fully God and fully man  (known as the hypostatic union) and yet, while on earth, He did only the will of His Father. In essence, to love like Jesus means to keep His commands, to love one another as He has loved us (not to be confused with tolerating sin) and build one another up. Listen as we flesh this out in conversation. Season 1- Ep 8 Are Boundaries Loving?

In this episode, Sandra and Shandia share contrasting views on the idea of Biblical boundaries and what those look like in the context of relationships. Here we explore what it means to acknowledge our human limitations as finite beings, how to apply the principle of counting others as more important than self (Philippians 1:2-3). We challenge people to veer away from a semi-narcissistic worldview about what is self-serving to consider love, wisdom, managing expectations, while acknowledging  human limitations when setting and maintaining a healthy framework in any relationship.  “Sometimes, our best attempts at loving are met with habitual thoughtlessness, insatiable need, unkindness, anger, indifference, or a lack of mutuality. It’s in these relationships that boundaries begin to sound like a good idea. But God’s Word doesn’t move from the command to love to a psychological category like boundaries. Instead, it presses us to think about what it looks like to love a difficult person. Godly love confronts evil, perseveres, and forgives. It doesn’t interfere with God’s pattern of sowing and reaping. It is willing to risk the other person’s displeasure by forsaking, pleasing, placating, and pretending. It doesn’t do for others what they can do for themselves when it enables laziness, entitlement, and self-absorption. It rescues people from their foolishness, as Abigail’s gift to David rescued both him and Nabal” (Brenda Pauken, 2021).  Biblical references:  1 Corinthians 13:4-8  Philippians 2:1-3  1 Peter 3:9 1 Samuel: 25:3-35 Romans 12:1 1 John 3:16  Matthew 16:24 Phillipians 2:6-8 Titus 2:12 2 Corinthians 6:14 James 4:4 Romans 6:23 Romans 12:21 Genesis 3:12-13 Romans 13:1-4 Proverbs 22:6 Ephesians 6:4 Colossians 3:21 Titus 2:4 Proverbs 19:18  Proverbs 27:6 Galatians 5:13 James 1:5 Ephesians 4:15 Galatians 5:22-23  Reflection/Journaling Questions  In what situations are you most tempted to create boundaries? What are your boundaries trying to protect? How can limitations, love, managing expectations, and wisdom help you have God-honoring relationships?

Season 1: Ep. 6 What is "salvation"?

You have often heard us saying that “if you haven't accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour now is a good time,” but what does that mean?  In this episode we dig a little deeper into what salvation is, why we all need it, and what it means to be saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). Season 1: Ep: 5 Jesus & Therapy

Therapy without the creator, Jesus, may work for the short term but in tandem can bring great healing and full restoration in your life. We often hear the rhetoric that therapy is intended to treat psychosis, those with mental health diagnosis, and or addiction, and while therapy is certainly the course of treatment for all these things.  Therapy is also beneficial in self-discovery, healing from trauma, learning or unlearning healthy boundaries principles, developing or growing in intimacy with Christ, connecting with others, for couples to rediscover one another and rebuild intimacy, families to heal through a sickness, illness, loss, or even just to develop a closer bond with one another. Therapy is all encompassing and finding the right therapist/licenced counselor  is a decision to be made prayerfully. Whatever you’re hoping to improve in, there is a therapist for you.  Bible References Exodus 20:13 Numbers 28:3-8 2 Chronicles 7:14 Proverbs 4:7 Proverbs 11:14 Proverbs 13:11 Proverbs 18:21 Proverbs 3:5-7 Proverbs 15:22 Proverbs 13:22 Ecclesiastes 1:9 Ecclesiastes 4:12 Matthew 5:28, 44-46 Matthew 22:21 John 11 Romans 5:3-6 1 Corinthians 6:19 2 Corinthians 6:14 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 Hebrews 13:4 Galatians 6:2 Romans 15:14 Other References Power of a Praying Wife  https://amzn.to/3y53cUE www.betterhelp.com https://www.christian-works.org/counseling-works/ https://openpathcollective.org/ https://reestablishingconnectionstherapy.ca/resources

Season 1: Ep 3- Why it's called "Good Friday"

We celebrate on Good Friday because Christ's death was a sacrifice so that we could receive the gift of eternal life (John 3:16). The Bible tells us that Jesus bore our sins, shame, and burden on the cross. The results changed the course of humanity and what was meant for evil through a criminal's death, God meant for good (Bible Study Tools, 2024) Genesis 1:1-31 Genesis 3:1-24 Numbers 28:4 1 King 11 Ezekiel 18:1-32 Matthew 5: 38-48 Matthew 26:35-56 Matthew 27:45-31 Mark 9:31 Mark 10:34 Luke 23 1:56 2 Corinthians 10:4-6 Proverbs 16:4 Proverbs 18:21 John 1:1-5 John 13:14 John 13:35 Ephesians 4:30-32 Hebrews 10: 1-39 Jude 1:23   Revelation 1:20 Revelation 21:9 #GoodNews #GoodFriday #Jesus #Resurrection

    Season 1 Ep2: Accountability & Stewardship

The two go hand in hand. Stewardship is the responsibility to manage all the resources of life for the glory of God, acknowledging God as provider (Holman Bible Dictionary, 2015). Accountability is the fact of being responsible for what you do and able to give a satisfactory reason for it, or the degree to which this happens (Cambridge Dictionary, 2024).
