Mohammed Morsi is marking his first year in office. This anniversary however, doesn't come with much celebration. Protests on Wednesday in the northern city of Mansoura left two dead and 170 people injured. Host Carol Hills speaks with Financial Times' Borzou Daragahi who has been following the events in Cairo.

Our history editor, Chris Woolf, was digging into the Edward Snowden case and stumbled across some interesting stuff about extraditions. The US is trying to extradite Edward Snowden on espionage charges, over his leaks exposing the NSA's secret surveillance programs. Anchor Carol Hills asks Woolf about the world's first known extradition treaty, signed more than 3000 years ago.

"Aquaponics" is an almost climate-proof method of raising fish and vegetables using much less space, water and chemicals than land-based agriculture. It’s not a new technology, but it's been slow to catch on in Africa, where the demand for vegetables and protein is soaring. Now one Ugandan entrepreneur thinks his "Africa Aquaponics Association" has finally hit on the winning formula.

Brazilian authorizes might feel a bit bewildered about all of the protests there. After all, conditions for Brazil's poor have vastly improved over the past decade.
