    The Stockdale Paradox

There is a LOT of paradox in physical therapy. Things that are seemingly contrary and yet are true at the same time. In this episode we talk specifically about the Stockdale Paradox and how it relates to therapy. . We want to ensure we are giving people hope for their eventual return to sport, while also being realists about their current objective measures and the work they need to do in order to progress. Listen in and challenge yourself to work on your communication and motivational skills with your patients!

    What If Progress Plateaus!?!

We all have times when our patients don’t quite progress as expected. The key to helping them over that plateau is being intentional by changing variables in order to get a different outcome. . In this episode I’ll discuss variables that impact prognosis in the patient context as well as things tho consider changing in the therapy or therapist context. Having a strategy to alter a plan of care when needed is a huge skill in our profession! Use some of the topics brought up in this pod to ask better questions, test to reassess and help your patients get back on track and closer to their goals!

    Anatomy of Unilateral LBP

We all know patients that come in with that nagging unilateral low back pain! . It looks like QL and paraspinals are just working around the clock and our patients get desperate for release there. . In this episode, we talk through two muscles that collaborate with the QL to improve pelvic and hip stability that can truly be the answer for some relief in this area! Listen in and target these muscles with strengthening and fatigue resistance/endurance training in various postures and intensities and see what it does to give your patient the relief they’ve been searching for.

  4. 3

    Build Fatigue Resistance

Building fatigue resistance needs to be an absolute staple in sports rehab! This demonstrates ownership over a movement pattern! Ask yourself, “Can my athlete manage load even after becoming fatigued?” If the answer is unsure, this is likely something to zero in on! Listen in and then give me your two cents on other ways you’re implementing this in your sessions!
