This exposureto different cultures deepened her interest in her own country's traditionalculture, and after returning to Japan, she embarked on a career as aprofessional Rakugo performer. While the world of Rakugo is dominated by men,she is one of the few female Rakugo performers, active in vaudeville and othervenues.
