6 Years No Answers: Austin’s Failure in Martin Gutierrez’s Murder

In November 2018, a tragic incident occurred near Austin's Rainey Street district when Martin Gutierrez, a 25-year-old local resident, disappeared after a night out. Last seen at area bars on November 19, Gutierrez was reported missing shortly thereafter. Following an extensive search, his body was discovered in Lady Bird Lake more than a week later. According to the Travis County Medical Examiner's report, Gutierrez died from accidental drowning, with toxicology results showing alcohol but no illicit substances in his system. While Austin police found no evidence of foul play, Gutierrez's family raised concerns about unusual behavior before his disappearance, suggesting he may have been drugged and assaulted. His case is one of twenty-four drownings recorded at Lady Bird Lake, sparking community discussions about enhancing safety measures and surveillance in the vicinity.

Raw Docs E.1: Rainy Street Reaper - a serial killer in Austin?

When bodies began appearing in Lady Bird Lake in 2018, police initially dismissed most cases as accidental drownings or suicides. Now, with 24 bodies recovered, the city of Austin, Texas, fears a serial killer may be on the loose. Private Investigator Michael Crain joins Tom Mireles to discuss the chilling case of Santiago and Martin Gutierrez. The bodies of these two young men were found in Lady Bird Lake a week after they were reported missing. Both were educated and in their early 20s. Despite the suspicious circumstances, their deaths were never thoroughly investigated and were officially ruled as accidental drownings. However, new evidence and closer scrutiny now suggest foul play.
