Over the course of 2024, more than 1,400 tracks were carefully evaluated. From this, a shortlist of over 400 standout tracks emerged. And now, after weeks of fine-tuning, a final selection of 175 unforgettable tracks has been seamlessly woven into a mix that spans an epic three and a half hours. Every beat, every melody, and every drop tells the story of 2024, inspired by the energy of top dance charts, electrifying DJ sets, SoundCloud, Spotify’s Release Radar, and iconic radio shows. Some facts: 122 tracks where cherrypicked out of over 1400 tracks I scanned during the year the mix is a little bit under 2 and a half hours long. it took over three months to finish that was partly because of newly used techniques which involved A.I. Hello! Back with the 2021 yearly overview of dance tracks. All tracks were either released, covered or remixed in 2021 and yes, there are a helluva lot of covers released each year, 2021 being no exception :) Again, all tracks were mainly introduced to me through Spotify’s release radar, or Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy podcast, or taken from entries in the Global Dance Chart. For the first time ever I used some tracks with Dutch lyrics. Other facts: The mix starts at 100 bpm and ends in 137 bpm. From the initial 400 tracks, 106 tracks were cherry picked. Actually a few more tracks were used but only as a very short sample, those are not listed. Next to Dutch tracks, English, German, French and Spanish tracks are included. Accidentally, the Dutch influence is stromg in this mix where over 20 tracks have Dutch origins or Dutch remixers. I snuck in one track from 2022 (Tinlicker), and finally, there is also a remixed Eurovision Song Contest entry in there somewhere. I used Serato DJ pro to sort the songs on BPM and I then used the demo version of Ableton Live version 11 to put the mix together, so had a maximum of 90 days before the trial ended and I could no longer export the mix. I finished it with less then 1 day left.. :) Anyway, let me know what you think!

I collected music throughout the year mainly from Spotify’s release radar and a few podcasts like the excellent Group Therapy podcast by Above & Beyond. Over 350 tracks were selected and further cherry picked for this mix and eventually 80 were used. All of the tracks were either released in 2020 or the remix used was and all can ( or at least could) be found at Spotify. I used Serato DJ pro to sort the songs on BPM and key, although I hardly ever paid attention to the latter. I then used the demo version of Ableton Live to put the mix together, so had a maximum of 60 days before the trial ended :) It was my first time using both pieces of software and I especially liked Ableton for its ease of use but on the other hand didn't much care for its clumsy way of zooming in and out. I hope you like the mix, hope it makes you move and maybe lets you forget for a while the misery that 2020 brought us.
