Premiere: bbsanii - Ambié Funk | Night Shop Records

‘Murciélago’ is the forthcoming EP from Australian artist bbsanii on Naarm/Melbourne imprint Night Shop Records. Born in Naarm and partially raised in Otavalo, Ecuador, bbsanii’s sound is rhythm-focused, textured and intricate, drawing from her latinx roots, soundsystem culture, jazz, electronica and beyond. On ‘Murciélago’, bbsanii explores the intersections of latin rhythms, bass and house music, with a distinct, modern approach. To open the EP, bbsanii leads you into her dreamworld with ‘Ambié Funk’: her dreamy take on baile funk, with syncopated rhythms, textured percussion, thumping 808s and lush pads that wrap you in a warm embrace. Have a first listen to ‘Ambié Funk’ ahead of the full EP’s release on the 8th May, with a launch party at Naarm late-night venue Angel Music Bar. RC:163 Brutuzz

For the latest entry in Rhythmic Culture’s mix series we welcome Brutuzz. A longtime force within the Dutch bass music landscape, Brutuzz has spent years pushing forward heavyweight sounds through his Sonic Boom parties — a cornerstone for bass music in Amsterdam that recently celebrated its 20-year anniversary. As both a curator and DJ, his sound is rooted in deep low-end pressure, drawing from across the spectrum of bass-driven club music. For this mix, Brutuzz delivers a high-energy selection packed with weight, rhythm and soundsystem intensity, reflecting two decades of dedication to the culture. @brutuzz

Premiere: Lomi - Change of Horizon | BRUTALISM

'A Sudden Burst of Noise' is a BRUTALISM release exploring the intersection of cosmic data, architecture, and sound. Built from sonified pulsar signals and field recordings captured at a concrete radiotelescope in West Germany, the record transforms rotational motion, material tension, and electromagnetic presence into sonic form. On 'Change of Horizon', Lomi channels these elements into a shifting, physical composition where structure becomes rhythm and data becomes texture—moving between abstraction and density. RC:161 samwho

For the latest entry in Rhythmic Culture’s mix series we welcome Rotterdam-based samwho. Raised on a steady diet of reggae and dub, samwho developed a deep connection to rhythm and bass — foundations that continue to shape his sound today. As both a producer and DJ, he draws on influences from the UK to West Africa, weaving them into forward-thinking club music. In this mix, samwho threads together his influences with a steady focus on rhythm and low-end. It's a fluid journey that stays grounded in the pulse of the dancefloor. @amuellwho

Premiere: No police - darkweb | Matière

Matière presents Sonic Search, an ambitious four-volume project conceived as an exploration of sound, granting each track the space to assert its own logic while contributing to a broader vision. The compilation brings together artists whose practices may appear distant, placing distinct sonic universes into dialogue until they converge within a shared wave—fragile yet furious, luminous yet abyssal. Moving across ambient, trance, jungle, and techno, the project reveals subtle correspondences between light and shadow, organic and mineral, science and mysticism. Each voice finds its place within this shifting terrain, driven by a common impulse: to push the act of listening to its limits and explore the depth and multiplicity of contemporary sonic language. Premiere: DNGLS - Ascension (Nouveau Monica Remix) | IFT

Following the release of "La route des Alpes - 1921," Nouveau Monica presents a reinterpretation of "Ascension," one of the standout tracks from the DNGLS album. This album was produced following a commission from the Scène Nationale de Lux in Valence to create a live cinema-concert for André Bayard’s silent film, La route des Alpes. It is an exploration of a world and a mountain landscape that no longer exist, traveling through Évian, the Galibier Pass, and Mont Blanc. The album is steeped in this black-and-white atmosphere, giving it a new dimension, an emotion-filled journey shifting between ambient, electronica, breakbeat, and IDM. With a cinematic signature shared with DNGLS, Nouveau Monica reveals a new narrative to the track.. This version is extended and more dynamic, featuring more sustained drum breaks and a brighter tone, while still preserving a deep sense of melancholy. With this remix Nouveau Monica continues the "Ascension" far beyond the Alps. Premiere: Beaabea - MISFIRE | Amity

Amity presents Chrome Abyss, the much-anticipated debut solo EP from sought-after producer and DJ Beaabea. Her tracks have caught the attention of key tastemakers like Jaguar and Martha on BBC Radio 1, with releases including her debut single 'Pixelate' on EMA’s label Woozy imprint, and her latest cut 'Constants' on Amity. After making her mark with these standout early releases, Chrome Abyss arrives as a distilled and deliberate statement, channeling a sound palette that is shiny, metallic, and fluid yet grounded in rhythmic force. Across four tightly constructed tracks, Beaabea unveils a world of glistening surfaces and low-end pressure - bass-heavy, refined, and built for maximum club potency. KNOCK OUT! hits with a sharp, clean impact; I Like Your Mind coils around processed vocal phrases and slick sub textures; MISFIRE rattles with mechanical tension. At the core, onandonandon loops and unravels hypnotic vocals into an endless feedback cycle, refracting around chrome-plated percussion. The entire EP carries a cool, reflective sheen with productions that shimmer like sculpted metal under strobe light. Known for her genre-fluid sets and productions that fuse bass with high-energy percussion, Beaabea has become a distinctive presence, affiliated with collectives like Steel City Dance Discs and Club Glow. Through her event series and Voices Radio show How Did It Get So Late?, she has built space for FLINTA* DJ's, all while refining her own sonic identity. Chrome Abyss now solidifies that identity - precise, polished, and built to resonate. Beaabae @beaabea www.instagram.com/___beaabea___/ Amity @amityclub www.instagram.com/amityclub/

Premiere: Parule - Off Shore | Vienna's Filthiest

Parule taps in with a five-track EP that explores different tempos and ventures into new sonic territories while maintaining some of his signature elements. Stoned Squirrel opens the EP with a slow, head-nodding groove driven by a filtered acid hook and rattling percussions. Off Shore follows as a stripped-back roller, evoking a hypnotic, submerged atmosphere. Chants nods to Parule’s earlier work—fast-paced electro that dances between breakbeats and squelching acid lines. Laufbahn is stripped down, raw and agonizing. Like running in circles with a broken foot. Fujiyama pushes into the 160 BPM realm, weaving in lyrics and vocal textures from ŽEN's "Lov na crne tipke", a track Parule obsessed over throughout the past year. We're back with another mind-bending mix coming from the Belgian scene, courtesy of Loto Retina. In the second mix in a series of two mixes curated by Mika Oki, Loto delivers a tough, bass-heavy journey full of distorted low ends and a punk edge. Mika Oki: "When you step into Loto’s music world, there is no going back. Loto is one of the most talented aliens I’ve had the pleasure to meet. If they had enough hands, they would play drums, bagpipes, tabla, guitar and keys at the same time. Their performances are not just music, it’s a full-on experience with generous, colourful, percussive sounds. A vibe that only Loto can dish out with pure authenticity, no half measures." @lotoretina

Bold rhythms in this week's Rhythmic Culture podcast, as Basel's Mukuna sets the tone for 60 minutes. Being a member of Basel’s collective and label Somatic Rituals, Mukuna is at the helm of the cities forward-thinking scene. Since being a kid and taking Senegalese drum lessons, the main essence of his music has been percussion. As he got into clubbing and electronic music, he began exploring every corner of this newfound playground in which he explored a variety of polyrhythmic percussions and pounding beats. This mix is just a perfect reflection of all of that – we're in for a treat from start to finish. @mirco-mukuna

    RC:013 Korea Town Acid

Hailing from Toronto (but originally from Seoul), Jessica Cho aka Korea Town Acid is a breath of fresh air in the electronic music scene. She blends various sounds together with ease, earning her the title freeform beat manipulator. The releases KTA put out on Cosmic Resonance, Clipp Art and Forth solidify that title for her. We highly recommend checking out her ethereal and raw Mahagoni Forest album! Parallel to her productions, KTA’s DJ sets incorporate that same free flow mentality. For her Rhythmic Culture Records debut, the Toronto native ventures through sounds in the left field of electronica. Her ability to be able to find eclecticism within these borders is beyond! She translates her inspiration from and passion for jazz, fast-paced electronica and deep jungle cuts into a 60 minute mix filled with intricate idm, emotive lo-fi house and experimental techno.
