    Today's guests were recommended by Mr. Frank Harrison who teaches a unique course that has been a long-standing tradition at Concord High School.  After taking the course last year, both Cali and Sophia have served as student leaders this year.  They are both wonderful ambassadors for the program and are loaded with stories to tell.

    RiZing Tide hits the road in this episode and records in front of an audience.  Today's guest shares her perspective on the influence of social media on younger students and cell phone policies in high schools.  Nora and Kelly, this episode's co-host, boldly express their thoughts on both of these hot-button topics in front of an audience of superintendents and school principals!

    We're trying something different and calling this our first homecoming episode.  Flannery returns to Concord High for the first time in almost 10 years since graduating to catch us up on life after high school.  And what a life it is!  I knew when Flannery was a 5th grader in my class many years ago that she would change the world and she ABSOLUTELY is doing just that.

    The first season of RiZing Tide closes with an amazing story of someone who just recently discovered a skill that has launched him into the stratosphere of track and field.  Nick recounts his meteoric journey from the moment he first threw a javelin just a few months ago to competing in a national tournament in Oregon on the very day this episode launches.

    This episode features a Concord High School senior who I have had the pleasure of knowing for their entire school career.  Lavender takes us on a deep dive into a variety of topics ranging from gender identity to social acceptance to pogonology.  Don't bother looking that last word up, just give a listen.

    Today's guest, Concord High School student Wilder Riley, reached out wanting to join in on an episode to talk about the "universal language (of music) and....the importance of the creative process" and we are so glad he did.  Wilder is a kind soul who discusses his musical influences and even shares a song.

    Episode #15 - Norah Lanigan

    Still jet-lagged from her recent journey to France and Spain, Norah Lanigan shares stories from the school trip across the pond during the April break.  In addition to sharing details from the trip, Norah explains how the experience has expanded her world view.  And to top it all off, she's an engaging conversationalist with a lightning-quick wit.

    Episode 14: Julianna Frost, Emma Washburn and Julianna Lampman

    The Concord Regional Technical Center (CRTC) is one of the many crown jewels of Concord High School.  Our three guests in this episode shine as they represent the Education and Behavioral Science program in the CRTC.  Each of these three future teachers shares what hooked her into the vocation of teaching.  Emma and the Juliannas also unpack the iTeach Apprenticeship, a phenomenal program that couples full-time experience in the field with a college degree.

    Our guest for episode 11 recounts his experience moving to Concord and starting at the high school knowing absolutely no one.  His story spawns a friendly debate on the topic of popularity.  Our somewhat philosophical conversation meanders through unexpected twists and turns during which both Kelly and Cody share some thoughtful insights on what it means to be popular.

    Episode 10: Elliot Clendenning

    A chance encounter with a member of the CHS Robotics Team at the Winter Carnival resulted in this episode.  Elliot was so eager to show me their robot for this year's competition, it became immediately apparent that he needed to be our next guest.  Listen to find out how the team has been preparing for their upcoming district competition.

    Episode 9: Hyperion the Rapper

    Yes, there is a fully legitimate rapper who walks the halls of Concord High School. And he is the REAL DEAL. Tune in to listen to how he got his start and what he's been able to accomplish since his dad first introduced him to hip hop in 2019. We even have our very own NPR Tiny Desk Concert moment.

    Our guest for episode #8 is so much more than our tallest guest so far. In fact, we start with an honest conversation about the pros and cons of standing head and shoulders above the rest. But the real reason she joins us is to share a special talent that she discovered just a couple of years ago - a talent that she is taking to Poetry Out Loud regional competition for the second time in two years.
