The guest of today’s episode, Christopher Cvetko, is in the Spitzensport & Studium programme at the University of Klagenfurt, which supports professional athletes in balancing their sport careers and university studies in the teacher training programme. Christopher is a professional football player and studies English and history; this requires good time management since he spends several hours a day at the football pitch and does his university coursework in the evening. His decision to become an English teacher arose from his passion for working with kids and his love for the English language and culture, an interest which was sparked by a scholarship with the Bolton Wanderers in England at the age of 16. This opportunity enabled him to live in an English-speaking context, which has proven valuable later in life.
