Rock-N-Brews

This episode is meant to answer the questions you may have related to the brewery closing on December 31st.  

Beer isn’t just a drink. It’s shaped music, movies… and sometimes even crime. This is the story of how one beer turned rock stars into smugglers and became the star of a Hollywood chase. Pint Sized History is a new series interspersed between full episodes of Rock-N-Brews.  Fun little stories that have some pretty fun twists.  They don't take much time, but they inspire curiosity and sometimes wonder over this liquid we like to drink so much. So grab a beer and settle in.

We’re back after a looooooong time. Sorry folks. In this episode we go off script and cover so many random topics. We cover the “lost” episode we thought we were recording. In the lost episode we tasted Busch Light Apple (4.2%) Wicked Weed - Blue Razz Burst (4.5%) Sycomre - Tropical Cider (5.5%) Bekah brought in a bag of goodies for us to taste - MD 20/20 - Electric Melon (13%) MD 20/20 - Tangy Orange Spiked Punch (12%) Four Loco Pregame - Sour Apple (13.9%) Scofflaw - Pogzilla Double IPA - (9%) Peppers - Mad Hatter / Red Ghost We cover our new hours, a brewery engagement, Southern Crown Loves Us, Man cards, Ailey the Entrepreneur, Jokes, a famous guest, and Mind reading by Bekah.

This week Jon and Thomas are joined by Bekah so you know it's going to be hysterical. We kick off with a solid IPA brought to us by Scott (Buttercup) straight from Washington state and talk about how you can check a suitcase with as much beer as you want. The we have a little intervention and discuss gambling problems with Bekah and how Carter's getting into it too.   We try a new beer Bekah brought back from PA called Renegade, a beer linked to Styx (the band, not the river), talk about the song Watermelon Crawl and how illegal it is for that festival to happen in Georgia and finish out with conspiracies.  

On this episode, Jon and Thomas take one for the team and try a few beers. Joey broughts us a family size can of Steel Reserve (swill) , an 8.1% malt liquor from Steel Brewing Company Nicole brought us Founder’s Mortal Bloom.  A hazy IPA clocking in at 6.2%. She also wrapped the cans in a very nice decorated paper bag. My Dad send me back Cherry Chouffe, and amazingly crisp cherry beer which is a whopping 8% Imported by Duvel Moorgat Topics of the show include - customers that love our beer and wings, almost to the point they needed to get a room.  There was a brewery disaster that left the brewery closed for 2 1/2 days over THE most important drinking holiday - St. Patrick's Day. The brewery garden club takes off under the green thumb of Keri.  The band you like, but didn't know you liked. How Jeff Bezos and Blue Origin are out to trick you into thinking they have the tech to go to space and back and the subliminal Satanic messaging behind it A new segment called Fun Facts, will blow your mind, at least until you understand the math behind it. And also how much we now respect Russians.  

In part two Thomas and Jon talk about tipping etiquette vs (in)convenience fees. Georgia Beer Day happened and led to yet another “Jon’s gone and hell breaks loose” story. Jon realizes that he’s not a good trainer. Jon and Thomas are Social Media Influencers. And a conspiracy neither of us remembers putting into the show notes.

This is part 1 of 2 - the recording went almost 2 hours so we split it up. This week Jon and Thomas catch up after a long break due to work schedules. Back from a holiday break, Jon and Thomas try Jai Alai Double IPA and it's pretty damn good.  We talk about New Years Eve and what happened at midnight if you were here, you know.  We actually got a couple comments from listeners to talk about - one of which was related to a past episode and one question was related to the hardest beer I've ever brewed. Thomas gets stiffed on a tip after pretty much being someone's bitch all night, we hit a somewhat old conspiracy / movement that may have some footing and then we talk about a music story that proves Jon failed as a father.

Christmas Episode!  [*Extra Explicit and Crude*] In this episode all 4 of us (Jon, Thomas, Keri and Bekah) sit down to drink, laugh and recall various stories and shenanigans from the past month. We kick off the episode by tasting more moonshine that Curtis brought us - Dr. Dum Dum's Strawberry and Blackberry.  We hit some Christmas Party news, Thomas talks to Santa, we talk about a game Jon wrote back in high school, Keri's obsession with Snoop Dog and we round out the episode with a "Who spits water first" - Joke contest which gets very funny and VERY crude. All I have to say is Bekah understood the assignment.

This week on the podcast, Jon and Thomas taste Hayburner IPA from Big Ditch Brewing Company in Buffalo New York, Swing Juice from Weathered Ground Brewery in West Virginia and Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale from Lexington Brewing and Distilling.   We talk about Thanksgiving adventures, the game bookshelf, Jon goes on a rant, some listener feedback about the kitchen, of course Distributor crap and Jimmy Buffet.

This week Jon and Thomas get some new podcasting equipment thanks to Jon's copious amount of Amazon points.  A super drunk customer makes an appearance, Jon thinks Mickey Mouse is a classic rock singer from the 70's and Thomas thinks there's cannibals in our National Forests and Parks.

This week Jon and Thomas try out Kentucky Vanilla Barrel Cream brought to us by friends of the show Keith and Michael.  We have some corrections from the last episode because we make stuff up and occasionally that stuff is wrong.  Jon shares a near death experience, Thomas confides in us about this weekend's Draft Kings experience and we almost had to call the cops for the first time ever. But we didn't, because mama didn't raise no bitch... mostly because I have friends that got my back.

In this special episode, the ladies take over and talk about life at the brewery.  Interestingly they take a different attack and look the the bright side of things :).  They talk about the beginnings of their friendship, how Trax came about and the progression of the taproom construction.  Keri tells a story about her grandpa that may bring a tear to your eye and Bekah talks about how we go to a lot of concerts and why that frustrates dad.  The end the show with Dad jokes with dad - and rip through some good ones.  

This week Jon and Thomas explore more international alcoholic drinks, we talk sports betting and how we got screwed because Draft Kings lost their shirts on the World Series, Some AWESOME gifts from customers, a PSA about your resume if you're a contractor and much, mich more. The mics are still causing issues, SORRY!!! Thomas and I got a late start on the Podcast this week. In this episode we talk about how people treat my brewery and other people’s property. We hit on a fun fact about Russia, Jon has a high school flashback, the absolute hell week we had here and Thomas’ poor deep freezer (FYI - we didn’t drop it out of the back of the truck)

Jon and Thomas taste some new beer, address a new (to us) listener conspiracy, recap our time in Macon for the Beerfest and Jon STILL can't math.  We wrap the show with a joke from Carter, my 7 year old grandson #squirrel
